The location is an easy drive from the turnpike exit and above an excellent restaurant. There is a cosy sitting area and everything was very clean. Beds and pillows quite comfortable. We enjoyed our weekend stay.
The apartment was roomy, comfortable and very clean. We especially liked being above the restaurant which has exceptional food, but doesn’t open until 11 a.m. so we could not get breakfast there and there are no cooking facilities in the apt. other than a microwave. No TV either but a few books.
Wonderful blend of historic aspects of building and modern conveniences — great shower, firm mattress, comfortable living area furniture. It’s close to Bedford’s historic downtown but far enough away to feel very private even though it’s atop a fantastic farm to table restaurant. I plan to return since Bedford is the perfect weekend getaway for me.
We've been vendor at the Bedford Fall Foliage Festival for over 20 years and have stayed at many different place. THIS was by far the best place we've stayed. Super convenient for us and the dinner downstairs was delicious!
Such a great cozy space! Loved the history of this home! Plenty of room, so clean and inviting! Loved the decor and the space heater made it so nice and warm! My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at the restaurant downstairs, so convenient! The next day we slept in and then went to the Bedford spa for pedicures and the baths! The town of Bedford has such cute shops and a great coffee shop too! Went thrift shopping in the way there and on the way home! Perfect weekend!
Check in and out was extremely easy. Sitting area was great, although there are a lot of light switches and mainly ceiling fans with lights and it was hard to figure out which switch operated what. Or to figure out how to turn out just the lights and let the fans run.
It was an 82 degree day (granted in April) when we arrived and there was no AC in sight. Called owner and he said the soonest he could get the AC in was tomorrow morning. And to just open the windows. About half the windows had now screens but he claimed bees don't fly in after dark. Although I'm pretty sure mosquitoes or bats don't care.
Thankfully someone came and installed the AC units later that evening. But they never fully cooled the place down, so I'd imagine it gets really hot in the summer. There was a small window AC unit in the sitting room and then a free standing unit in the bathroom. The bathroom adjoins the 2 bedrooms, but the AC didn't seem to spread into those areas. Or the entire rental is just too big for those AC units to keep up. It was fine during the day but it was warm at night for sleeping. I would think at least some floor fans would help circulate the air.
The little kitchen area is very nice. And plenty of bathroom towels. The rugs in the smaller bedroom can slide, I ended up moving it to avoid falling on the floor. It is an historic house, so flooring is uneven, especially near the steps. Bed in larger room was nice, smaller bedroom bed was very hard and squeaked.
