Mountain Retreat

An amazingly peaceful, secluded cabin and yet only a couple short hour(s) drive from the DMV metro area. No issues with the check in and the hosts gave us our privacy.

Wonderfull Place

We spent New Year's at this wonderful cabin that provided the perfect getaway. It is secluded, and at night, the only lights we could see were four tiny ones a mile away, making it ideal for our New Year's recharge. We also took a one-hour drive to Black Water Falls Park, where we got to enjoy the snow. If you're looking to connect with nature, this is the perfect place.New Year's recharge. Fun with the dogs

Us and our two dogs enjoyed our stay. We had hoped to drive to different places in the area to walk around with the dogs, but unfortunately circumstances dictated we couldn't do that and had to stick around at the house. We had some fun exploring the property instead and the dogs were plenty happy. We used the wifi a lot since we were stuck at the house so much, and we had no problems with it. The house is very comfy and we loved the gorgeous views.

Nice and Quiet

Very secluded location. Didn't hear a car or airplane the entire time we were there except for the lawn cutters who came the last day (they were very nice). Just an amazing location if you want isolation peace and quiet. Can see the stars and hear the coyotes at night. The house was very clean. The appliances are dated (except the washer and dryer are newish) but all of them worked very well without any problems The barbecue and deck are perfect for hanging out outside. The internet worked incredibly well but there is zero cell phone signal. Be aware that the last 1/4 mile of road is rocky and a low clearance sports car wont make it so do not bring your corvette!! Its about 25 minutes to a market but the local folks are very nice and enjoyable to talk to. The property is immense and surrounded by woods and is perfect to get away from it all. My Malinois dog loved the property and didnt want to come inside but she is also off leash trained. Lastly the owner Jade was very responsive to our needs and was very helpful.

Excellent spot for a getaway

I’ve stayed in this area a few times and always enjoy it. John and Jades place is off the beaten path which is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a cozy and lovely space with plenty of room to hang out together by the fire or have your own space if needed. We enjoyed the hot-tub even in freezing weather. Kitchen was well stocked and had no problems cooking anything I wanted there. Even though it feels very remote the wifi was flawless and we easily found plenty to do and places to eat and buy groceries in nearby Wardensville (super charming tiny town) or Moorefield (not as tiny or charming but better stores). All in all a great choice especially if you plan to mostly hang at the cabin and retreat from it all. PS. If you are a nerd like me. Download the flight tracker app. I amused myself daily by seeing what flights we saw passing overhead. Would definitely recommend John and Jades place.

Beautiful Cabin with Beautiful Views

Stayed for the Christmas holiday. The hosts left us very generous Christmas gifts under the tree and everything was very thoughtfully decorated. The cabin was beautiful with pretty much everything you'd need! The views were spectacular, the property was fun to explore, the hot tub was HOT and the privacy was unmatched. The only thing we found we needed was bottled water due to the home using well water. There was a grocery store and dollar store about 20 minutes from the cabin. Also, the road that the property is on is unfinished so make sure you're not driving a low riding car or you may not make it. Overall, we would totally stay again!
