Many guests enjoy reserving the optional Pontoon Boating Pkg -- it really opens up a whole new world to be able to get out on the lake – and the little ones just love playing 'captain' steering the boat. The Pontoon Boat also makes for a great mobile swimming platform, and sunsets are glorious as it's so peaceful to be out in the middle of Stone Lake and just slowly drift and watch the waterfowl, birds, etc. And if anyone likes to fish - that's what Stone Lake is famous for! We include in the rental of the Pontoon Boat a personal orientation session so that the Pontoon can be operated safely and with confidence. Also included is 10 gallons of fuel.

Included with a Pontoon Boating Pkg are 7 kayaks (5 adult, 2 child). Also included is a 6x17' floating "Lily Pad", which is great fun for everyone.

Great Stay!
Our family had a great time at this lodge for a few nights leading up to Thanksgiving 2023. The outdoor playing fields and trails were a blast and the indoor game room kept us occupied when it rained. With 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms there was plenty of space for our entire extended family to enjoy some time together under one roof. Would look forward to staying here again and working with these owners.

Memories That Will Last Forever
The time we had with family in this house are memories we will cherish forever. The main level bed was awful and the house was covered in ants, but that wouldn’t stop us from staying again and again. Those two things are easily fixable. If you want bonding time with family, this house has everything you could ever need.

Adult Weekend Away
This property was perfect for our weekend away. After a few year break, this year started our weekend away with a great group of friends up again. It marks our 13th year getting together. There were cornhole championships, axe throwing championships, euchre, pool, and a little ping pong, too! The house provided ample space for meal prep and consumption. There is no better therapy than laughter and time with friends. The Knotty Pine Lodge provided a great location for both.

Fabulous Family Reunion!
We had a fabulous weekend at Knotty Pine! It was just perfect for our family. With ages from 17 months to 70 years old, there was something for everyone. I’m so glad we invested in the boat package. We fished, and some even jumped in the cold water because the weather was so beautiful! We also enjoyed the kayaks. Would definitely plan another vacation there in the future, only longer! We didn’t even have time to ride the bikes or fully explore the trails. You have a wonderful setup for families, and the accommodations were excellent.

Family Gathering
We gathered our family from multiple states for a family wedding and needed a 7 bedroom home . Finding a home of this quality with such an amazing view was a dream come true. What we were even more impressed with was the accommodations this property offered for accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges. They were so well designed that they blended seamlessly into the flow of the home. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BEAUTIFUL HOME THIS IS PERFECT AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HOME THAT OFFERS ACCESSIBILITY THIS IS THE HOME OF YOUR DREAMS. Family Vacation
My group consisted of eight adults and four children. The house offered plenty of space. The bedroom setup was great and the kitchen was well stocked. From the pictures, the main floor living area seemed larger than it actually is (at least to me) but it was not too much of an issue given all of the other available living areas. The game room was perfect for my group and is where we spent the majority of our time. We did not spend too much time outside given the time of year and weather. We did walk to town one day and it was a fairly easy walk.

Beautiful Property
We had a wonderful stay at Knotty Pine Lodge. There were 20 of us for a family get together and there was plenty of room for us to all be comfortable. The lodge is big but somehow still feels cozy. Communication with the owners was great and quick. We hope to do another family stay there someday.

Wonderful place!
Our family really enjoyed our stay here - there was plenty of room and activities for everyone (16 of us, including adults, teens, and kids!) and the homeowner supplied us with just about everything we needed. Great views and quiet area with ample parking. It's not a far drive to Swiss Valley at all and we were able to get some skiing in while we were there. The fire pit / gazebo was a very nice feature as well and the game room was a big hit with everyone. We would definitely stay here again.

Super Bowl weekend
Our group of 14 stayed at this property over the Superbowl weekend Friday-Monday. The 7 bds & 7 baths were great to house this many people in the winter months. The house itself was large enough that we were not in each others way. We also had nice enough weather to utilize the firepit put back! The kichen was large enough for all the meals & snacks that were made. The house had everything we needed. The gameroom was a huge bonus for tv watching and playing competitive pool. The guys in the group had fun. All in all great experience. The hosts were great! They answered any questions we had and were very gracious. I made Valentine cookies and the table was perfect for decoate them.

Christmas in Cassopolis Did NOT Disappoint!
Our family (17 of us total ranging from ages 2-80+) decided instead of gifts for Christmas, we’d start a new tradition of doing a family getaway! We thought we might have been crazy renting a place like this in December, but Cassopolis is such a cute little Hallmark town with quite a bit to do, close by - that between visiting the town and hanging out in the house’s game room we ran out of time before we ran out of things to do! Communication with the owner was amazing. The house was amazing. And Christmas 2022 in Cassopolis was amazing!

Happy Thanksgiving
We had a big family gathering(15 adults and 7 kids) this Thanksgiving with people from multiple states and from overseas. Perfect place for a large group with different age groups. There was something for everyone to do. We especially enjoyed the game room with the ping pong table, the pool table, and a big screen to connect the kids' Nintendo. The lake view was great, and we liked the fact that it was the last house on the street.

Perfection on Stone Lake
This property is amazing! The house is immaculate, very clean, and has especially comfortable beds. The game room, private lake access, smokeless firepit, basketball goal, private hiking trails, and huge playset set this property apart. Not to mention all the extras: a well stocked kitchen, tons of extras for playing (cornhole, ping pong paddles and balls, basketballs, etc.). My definition of perfect isn't everything going perfectly, but having property owners/managers who take care of you perfectly. That is exactly what Ted and Brenda did for me and my group of 19! We will be back.

About the host

Hosted by Ted Gogol

Host profile image
In the early 1980s we moved away from Michigan for jobs, settling in Maryland near Washington, DC where we raised our two wonderful children. As empty nesters, in the summer of 2008, we started what we thought would be a 5-year search for our dream retirement home back in Michigan, on a lake, halfway between Chicago and Detroit -- where all of Brenda's family have homes. In our very first house-hunting trip in June 2008 we came across a beautifully restored 1935 craftsman house on 3 acres; it exceeded our expectations in every conceivable way. It's a dream come true for us that in one short year became a mecca for family gatherings. In 2010 a 47-acre wooded parcel became available that surrounds the 3 acres and which included 150 feet of lake frontage...we were able to acquire it and build the Knotty Pine Lodge right on the water. We hope you will consider staying here at Stone Lake to build your own wonderful family memories. -- Ted & Brenda

Why they chose this property

Cassopolis, Michigan with its two lakes -- Stone Lake and Diamond Lake -- is halfway between Chicago & Detroit...about 2.5 hours from either. Less drive time = more fun time. Why drive 5-6 hours?

What makes this property unique

Here's what's most unique: The privacy and tranquility of a 47-acre wooded retreat with a private shoreline featuring a secluded, gentle-slope sandy beach upon which sits a 7-BR, 7.5-BA, 3,700 sq. ft. home that easily accommodates multiple families. Throw in a private dock with available Pontoon Boat, Kayaks, floating 6x17' "lily pad", 8 Mountain Bikes -- and it's a recipe for a great week at the lake. The icing on the cake? Guests can walk to downtown Cassopolis' restaurants & watering holes...and within 15-20 minutes by car are a plethora of other great restaurants. The Lodge House is 40-minutes from Notre Dame / South Bend and 45 minutes from Four Winds Casino. Numerous Golf Courses are nearby as are many Wineries which offer tours.
