The Worst Place

This house was an absolute mess. The owner does not use a cleaning service. We believe the owner lives in New Orleans and he didn’t even come to clean it himself. We spent the first 2 hours of our vacation cleaning and scrubbing bathrooms and there were 9 of us. Nothing had been washed. All of the beds had dirty sheets. The bathrooms were terrible and one of the toilets had to be bucket flushed. The showers would not drain. The shower curtain was laying on the floor and would not stay up. There was left over food laying around and dirty socks everywhere. The floors were awful and the kitchen table was covered in crumbs. Dirty dishes left throughout the house I spoke with the owner through the VRBO app and he did not seemed concerned and asked if we wanted to go somewhere else, knowing it was Mardi Gras and there was no other place for us to go last minute. This place was so disgusting that we were uneasy the whole time we were there. We did not walk on the floors without shoes. I have stayed in several VRBO places in the past and this is my first ever complaint. I have requested a refund. He agreed but that remains to be seen.

Great neighborhood and a quick walk to the trolley.

Upstairs hall shower does not drain. Floors could use a good cleaning, mattresses were hard as rocks, and just seemed overpriced for what we got. Oh no wifi and television did not work.

50 birthday celebration

Nice house, but we checked in at 4:00, the house hadn’t been cleaned, all the beds weren’t made, except the master. The towels were dirty, we had to wash them to have clean towels, the sheets hadn’t been washed either, the tub had hair in it, there was a few bugs in the house too! The WiFi info we received was wrong, we had no WiFi. I texted the property manager the pics of the issues. I just wished they’d had cleaned the house before we got there! poor management in my opinion

Not the best but not bad

This place was very clean and held our family of 11 very well. The part that was extremely disappointing was the communication with the property owner because there was absolutely no communication at all. Between questions and concerns we had before and during our stay only 1 thing was answered and everything else was ignored and not replied too. Also the description did not say anything about being close to a school which is not a problem except for parking durning the beginning and end of school hours. There’s only 1 spot for your vehicle and you’re so close to the school you’re stuck until school traffic is cleared. The water in the kitchen had horrible pressure and hardly ever got hot, the dishwasher didn’t wash the dishes so we had to hand wash everything. There was only 1 TV in the entire house and it wouldn’t turn on most the time. Lastly the WiFi would not work nor stay connected what so ever.

Family stay in NOLA

We had a very nice stay on Joseph St. This is a really nice property with plenty of room. The place is in excellent condition and the neighborhood is nice. The coffee maker was dead and within an hour there was a new one on the door. We had some internet issues and they were resolved. This is a great place to stay.

Perfect for my bachelor party

I stayed here with 12 of my friends for my bachelor party. The neighborhood was quiet and a safe walk down to Ferret Street or a cheap ride to the CBD. We arrived in 3 vehicles and were able to street park successfully without any complications or headache, which for New Orleans is rare! The house is intimate but spacious enough to where we didn’t feel piled up. The bathrooms were clean with good hot water and good shower pressure. The router wasn’t working initially and the host was quick to respond and help solve the issue. This place is great for large groups looking for a place to escape the city itself after spending your day or evening out. Would book again!

What a nightmare

It all started when we got there. We had multiple login instructions, and when we finally did get into the key holder, it was the wrong key. We had to call multiple numbers to get someone to help us, and finally they started responding. They’d left the wrong key and it would be at least 30 minutes until someone would be there. We were dropped off in an Uber, and it was over 100 degrees, so we grabbed another Uber (at our own expense) and went to a bar. We sat there for over an hour and a half, and when I would text them for updates, etc. it took them forever to get back to us. It turns out that we did have the wrong key, and they left the correct one for us. But they didn’t tell us they’d done so, so we finally just left and went back to see if they’d been there. We got in, and the air conditioning was good. So that was nice. The place was cold and cleaned okay, but there were a lot of roaches. Some of them even flew. The internet code was wrong, too. So we had to get clarification on that as well. We did finally all get on the internet, but it took some doing. When we left, we put the key back into the lock box it was supposed to be in, but then a few days later, I got another text. They couldn’t find where we’d left the key. So I told them it was in the lockbox where it was supposed to be and they found it. All in all, this was just an awful vrbo experience. I would not stay here again. The price was okay but the inconveniences and the roaches weren’t worth it.

Great location for Bourbon Bachelorette party

Property was in a quiet residential neighborhood that had great local bars, restaurants, shops but was close to the French Quarter. The check in code did not work on the lock but our call was answered right away and we were given access through a different method. We were a bachelorette party with 12 adults and everyone had a bed, so the house can accommodate large groups.

Great Neighborhood, Ok House

This house left a lot to be desired. It was missing some pretty basic amenities. There were only 4 forks, and the dishes in the dishwasher were dirty when we arrived. The internet and TV never worked during our stay, and messages to the host went unanswered. The downstairs bedroom does not have a/c, so if you stay in that room when it's warm you'll need to keep the door open. We also found boxes of bullets in the entryway cubbies in easy reach of our children, which was super disconcerting. On the plus side, the upstairs beds were comfortable and there were plenty of beds for our group. The neighborhood was beautiful, street parking was easy, and we were just a few blocks from a great playground for the kids and from Freret, which has some great restaurants and bars for the grownups. With just a few minor fixes this house could be really amazing, but it didn't feel worth the high price tag at all.

Great home, great stay!

We have rented many properties through VRBO or Homeaway and the likes before, so we 've seen it all. This property was nice for our friends weekend in New Orleans. We had plenty of room to spread out and the location was just a few minutes from Freret street, which has tons of restaurants, and bars. We also were just far enough from Downtown not to be in a constant touristy area, and close enough that it only took 15 min. to get there. We just loved the location as it was a true New Orleans neighborhood! And not a touristy place. We were 3 blocks from Historic and beautiful St Charles avenue and its trolley! The houses in this neighborhood were just gorgeous and people were very nice. We were just a few blocks away from a small supermarket, which made it easy for runs for beverages and breakfast food. The owners were also great to deal with. They were very accommodating and let us check in much earlier than our designated time, they also gave us great recommendations for restaurants, activities , bars and much more, they even gave us some of their tickets to go to the Audubon Zoo, which was really cool to see! The owner also cooked a pot of Red beans and Rice for our group. It was delicious and much appreciated the night of our arrival, when everybody was tired and hungry! Thanks again for the great times Chris! See you again soon.

You could probably find somewhere better, but this is fine in a pinch

Overall, the experience was average. I've rented many homes on VRBO and Airbnb in the past, but this experience was particularly lackluster. The house is as described. The neighborhood is good. It's quiet but walking distance to a hip little strip and and a 20 minute drive to the French Quarter. The number of rooms and beds available are exactly as described on the listing. However, it should be noted that house is a duplex. 13 people in a living room is noisy regardless of how mindful they are. Add in the fact that we're in New Orleans, and let's be real, there will be some drinking- it's loud. We're a group of 30-somethings, so we've toned down a bit from our more rowdy days. But we were still asked to quiet down on Friday and Saturday nights. I chose to rent a house because I knew we'd be loud. I would likely have rented elsewhere if I knew this was a duplex. In addition, we had some issues with the house and communication with Chris. I messaged him a few times prior to our arrival, and I felt like I was bothering him. For example, he didn't know the answer to my question of, "are their toiletries in the house?" (There are). When we arrived, the code didn't work to get into the house. The neighbor let us in. I called Chris, but his answer wasn't clear to me how it was going to be fixed. About an hour after, I texted him telling him we fixed it ourselves. In addition, the fridge was broken the entire time. We learned this about 5 hours into our stay, and I texted Chris immediately. He told me that it had been broken before, but that he thought the repairman fixed it. My friend is diabetic and carries insulin, so we had to find a workaround for that. We also had to throw out all of the food that we brought that wasn't eaten the first day. Chris never offered an apology or any kind of fix (coolers, a credit, etc.). This could have been a huge problem if we planned to cook all our food. There are many chores to be done when you leave including stripping the bed, taking out all garbages, cleaning out (broken) fridge, etc. There's also a fee list on the closing details telling you what happens if you miss something. That seemed really condescending and left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I did receive my full deposit back. But I waited until I got it to write this review. To sum up, I would try to find a different place if I were you. But if you can't, I think it's fine in a pinch.

Centrally located older home that was comfortable for our group

The property is centrally located. The house comfortably slept our group of 12. The kitchen is adequate, but who cooks when in NOLA. The bed rooms were well apportioned, water pressure in the showers excellent. The furnishings are bit dated but comfortable. The house served its purpose well for our team of 12.

Excellent Property

We come to the city frequently and have stayed at this property a few times now. Really like the location of this property being close to street car line and would recommend it to anyone. We have a large family and the large number of beds makes everyone comfortable. Its set up well because we go with our adult children and grandchildren. The master bedroom upstairs and the bedroom downstairs are private bedrooms (1 king or queen per room), which works for the couples. They have offstreet parking available (although we don't usually need to bring a car). Chris is also a great cook and makes us a pot of redbeans every time we come back which is a definite plus!

for our purposes the house was great.

the bunk beds weren't used on our stay - one was SO high that an adult would have a hard time getting in it and i wouldn't allow a small child to climb that high to sleep in it. the other one, the frame rocked when my husband tried to climb it and we were afraid of it crashing down on the people sleeping below! the "extra" bed is literally in the middle of the hallway upstairs so if you needed to use it you had NO privacy. we used it for storage of our suitcases and designated it the "drunk" bed in case we needed it! basically, there is 1 bedroom on main level w queen bed and a bathroom on the other side of the house. the upstairs has 2 bathrooms - 1 a jack n jill bath btwn the 2 bedrooms and another one. we had 5 couples and no issues with hot water or bathroom arrangements. it all seemed to work out. there are 3 bedrooms upstairs too. one bedroom has 3 twin beds - 2 can be pushed together for a couple to use and it has the HIGH bunk bed. one room has a king bed which was the nicest room - this shared the bathroom w the other bedroom that had 2 queen beds in it (this is the room me,my hubby, my BFF, and her hubby shared) and the queen bunk that seemed very unstable. all of the mattresses could use an upgrade or a pillow top pad for comfort - esp the king bed and the pillows could be replaced also. overall the house worked for us and the landlord was not only nice but super easy to work with, accessible, accommodating and a great guy. we'd stay at one of his properties again.

Great New Orleans lodging option for groups of all ages

This was a great property with close access to all of the major attractions New Orleans has to offer. We utilized Uber and could get to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter within 10 minutes. Being able to get away from Bourbon Street at times was a nice luxury to have and this house gave us that option. The check in and check out processes were seamless and the house was very spacious and in a nice neighborhood. I would highly recommend this property to any future visitors of New Orleans.
