We enjoyed our stay. The view was beautiful, the house comfortable, and the location was good for getting to some fun hikes and walks in the area. Definitely recommend getting up for the sunrise!
The kitchen has a good variety of pots, pans, etc. Recommend bringing oil, etc, if you plan on cooking, as we did not find any there.
We stayed in the larger bedroom. It was spacious and had good storage options for our things. The bed was soft for our liking, but everyone has different feelings on that topic!
Would definitely recommend this stay.
The cottage was perfect, felt a lot larger inside, and plenty of upgrades! The host was awesome! She took time to introduce our children to her horse and they were able to feed them dinner and carrots. One night she started a fire while we were out to dinner so it was ready to roast our marshmallows for dessert!
What a lovely and well done house. It has all of the luxuries of home, peace and quiet, and beautiful views. The host is great and very helpful. We loved our stay.
The house has been nicely updated and is as pictured. Host was very helpful. We enjoyed the history of the area. The view out back toward the mountains is beautiful!
We stayed for a week working in the area. No issues at all place was clean and had everything you need. Host was super responsive and oils stay again when back working in the area
This was the perfect place to stay to section hike the Appalachian Trail. The view was fabulous. We enjoyed sitting on the patio. The kitchen had everything we needed for 2 people. The host was very friendly and timely in her responses.
Great place to stay with a gorgeous view. In town for a wedding in Fincastle. Close to groceries and food options, but tucked away in the mountains. Surprisingly spacious on the inside.
I opened the door to this property and was amazed.fireplace in the living room was beautiful.Kitchen was absolutely amazing the window in the kitchen showed the best views.I could have stayed in that one spot and watced threw what i called the magic window.bathrooms and bedrooms was very nice and comfortable. Planning another trip for next year. This house was located in the perfect spot.
Beautifully remodeled home.
You walk into the front door, to a view out the kitchen picture window that’s majestic! Well stocked home & new appliances.
Crisp & Clean & Quiet. Loved the fireplace at night.
The house was very impressive. It has been totally renovated with new floors, kitchen and bathrooms. A very pleasant stay. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the area.
The home was absolutely wonderful. The spaces were clean and beautiful, the beds comfortable, and the views were outstanding. We’ll absolutely stay again next time we’re in Virginia.
Great getaway with beautiful views of the countryside. House layout is great for two couples. We were in town for a baby shower in Roanoke but this wasn’t a far drive in to downtown and the value of this place was worth it. Landscaping was a work in progress which hosts let us know ahead of time but still had a great view. You can see horses from your kitchen window! At night we enjoyed looking at the stars from the back patio as well. This place was well equipped with anything you might need! We had a relaxing time
The house is lovely and very comfortable and clean. My boys and I had the best week at the house. Suzanne is amazing! She even introduced her horses to my boys. We didn’t want to leave! We hope to be back again next year!
Beautiful view of countryside. Great accomodations for 2 couples. Host provided every needed household item to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. Host made us aware that landscaping was a work in progress but view from back patio was spectacular.
This was the perfect getaway for a long weekend. The location is close to activities in Roanoke but in a wonderful country setting. The cottage is very comfortable. They had everything we could need!

About the host
Hosted by Suzanne
I grew up in the Saratoga New York area, working with horses and helping on my grandparents farm. I graduated from Penn State University and enjoyed years of travel before settling in the Roanoke Valley. I enjoy hiking, baseball games and spending time with friends and family.
Why they chose this property
The space for my horses and the mountain views makes this property the perfect place to relax and unwind. The open space brings the deer and a variety of birds to the yard. The pond in the pasture draws the bullfrogs and occasionally you will hear bagpipes in the distance , thanks to a talented neighbor.
What makes this property unique
Botetourt County is ideal for being close to, but not in, Roanoke City. It's the perfect home base for experiencing the heart of southwest Virginia - its history, culture and outdoor recreation. Wineries, breweries, restaurants, Carvins Cove and the Blue Ridge Parkway are within easy driving distance.
