Provincetown, affectionately known as P-town, is a gem nestled at the tip of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, renowned for its vibrant culture, breathtaking natural beauty, and rich history. Spanning just 17 square miles, this charming seaside town offers so much! From its picturesque beaches to its thriving arts scene and lively LGBTQ+ community, Provincetown encapsulates the essence of quintessential New England charm blended with a unique and inclusive spirit. Let's delve into what makes Provincetown a must-visit destination for travelers seeking an enriching and memorable getaway.
One of the most alluring aspects of Provincetown is its stunning natural landscape. Surrounded by the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, this idyllic coastal town boasts pristine sandy beaches that stretch for miles, providing the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls, sunbathing, and water activities such as swimming, kayaking, and sailing. Race Point Beach and Herring Cove Beach are among the most popular spots, offering visitors the opportunity to unwind and connect with nature in a serene setting.
Beyond its picturesque shores, Provincetown is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. The Cape Cod National Seashore, which encompasses a significant portion of the town, features scenic hiking and biking trails that wind through dunes, marshes, and forests, showcasing the region's diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife.
In addition to its natural splendor, Provincetown is renowned for its vibrant arts and cultural scene. The town has long been a magnet for artists, writers, and creatives drawn to its unique light and inspiring surroundings. Visitors can explore an array of art galleries, studios, and exhibitions showcasing the works of local and internationally acclaimed artists, from paintings and sculptures to photography and mixed media installations.
What makes this property unique
Our property was built in 1939 and while it's not in the historical district, it was owned by an historical person from town. Frenchie was a local lady, a renowned artist, provided an animal sanctuary and had a pet seagull named Joey! She even had an annual day named after her Frenchie Day! She also built one of the infamous dune shacks on the Peaked Hill sand bars and started the Dune shack preservation society. She added an addition to this house in the image of a dune shack. When we initially purchased the property we planned to knock down and rebuild. After three years of the permitting process we had fallen in love with the quaint and oddly built house and decided to love and revitalize it instead! Hence the Dune Shack was so named!
