This is a rustic cedar log cabin that is off-grid but has most of the amenities of home. Perfect to get away from it all. The view from the front window wall and deck is the beautiful expansive northwoods and overlooks a semi-private lake that is known for northern pike and walleye as well as other warm water species of fish. If needed, heat is provided by a freestanding propane fireplace. The open great room has vaulted ceilings to compliment the cedar log wall construction. Use of boat and motor, and a canoe, are part of the package. A modern dock provides boat moorage and a relaxing place to enjoy the clear water of Porter Lake or dark skies at night for star gazing. Additional fishing and water recreation is available at nearby Cable Lake, which offers a public boat landing.
In addition to fishing, a network of gravel & dirt roads provide access to miles of potential ORV use, hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, bird watching, fall color touring, and hunting. The area is known to be some of the best habitat for moose in Michigan. Bald eagles are commonly seen from the cabin deck and loons are known to nest on the lake. Waterfowl, whitetail deer, grouse, and black bear are native to the area and abundant.
Power is provided by solar panels with battery storage. A back-up generator restores batteries on cloudy days or when needed. The cabin is located approximately 20 miles north of Crystal Falls, then 9 miles west and south.
This is not a commercial-type rental or a resort and is quite remote. There is no wi-fi, no regular TV, and cell service is spotty,
