We had a wonderful New Year's celebration with family and friends! We are glad that we found this house, it is spacious, large and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The house was very spacious and fully equipped. The five king sized beds were very comfortable. The fifth bedroom is really an open office with a futon. But there is a king sized bed in the basement which we used as our fifth bedroom. The house could use a few more chairs to sit at in the kitchen area given that it sleeps 15. The hosts were great about answering all of our questions and let us check in early given that we arrived on Christmas Eve. Our location was very convenient to our extended family who lives in North Aurora and to other things that we wanted to do while there. We would definitely rent again if the need arose.
Don’t let the exterior of this house fool you! The interior was clean and spacious, & perfectly suited for our early family Thanksgiving dinner gathering. And our family of 7 that stayed there, had plenty of room and towels, etc. There was even a basement with a pool table, ping pong table, skeet ball, chairs, TV, plus a large bed and full bath - What a bonus! I’ll be keeping this one on our list for any future stays in the area, for sure.

Great potential, but needs some work
Property listed as “sleeps15”, which is possible, but not ideal. Other aspects of the house were not set up for 15 guests. Seating for dining was 8, seating in family/ living room was 5-6, place settings of dishes for 12, etc. The interior of the house was in general ok, but not great.
The property is located on a nice, cute cul-de-sac with nice homes all around. The actual property itself is poorly maintained on the exterior…. lawn not mowed, landscaping in disrepair, junk discarded along the side fence, etc. Frankly, it was a little, scary looking, when we pulled up for our stay.
The basement was a great open area for the teenagers to hang out. They loved playing ping pong and pool down there.
Overall, the house served its purpose to be a gathering space for our family. However, our past experiences with VRBO properties have been much better. This one was disappointing.
The place inside is true to pictures. Very lovely! HUGE great room with enormous kitchen island. I’m super jealous and would love my own home to look like this! Very convenient and family friendly.
The basement was very spacious and the skeeball kept my kids VERY amused.
We did have a significant issue with the thermostat. We were locked out of changing it. It was set to 60 and FREEZING in the house. We messaged the host and though our host was very responsive, they said they couldn’t get anyone out until the next day to fix it. We were panicking that we were going to have to take our kids to a hotel or something. My husband was able to google the model and there were instructions online on how to fix it. (VERY odd instructions like press the down arrow three times, then this button then this button….). We were able to fix it and set it. I suggest that the host immediately replace that thermostat so it does not happen again to anyone else.
I will say, with as nice and Impressive as the inside of the house is, you would never know it driving up to the house. The yard could use some serious care with mowing and weeding. Curb appeal is not good. No big deal if you don’t care about this (we didn’t need the curb appeal) but this house was actually available to us after the bridal party of the wedding we were going to passed up on staying here after driving by to check it out and decided not to stay.
Overall, good stay. Good for a group. Hope the host fixes the issues
This property is great for large families! 4 king size beds and 3 full bathrooms was perfect for all of us. We stayed up late every night playing games in the basement! The open concept kitchen/living room was perfect for all of us to make food and hang out together. The pictures do make it appear nicer than it is in real life - there was quite a bit of damage when we arrived. We just took photos to make sure the host knew we didn't do it. Even with some of the damage, it felt clean and I would easily book this property again!
Nice place to stay for a family wedding in Aurora!
We enjoyed our stay in Oswego for a family wedding in Aurora. Wonderful communication with owner. Easy check in. There was enough space for 3 couples and room for a few more people if need be. The beds were comfortable. Overall cleanliness was good. The game room downstairs was fun for game time--love the skeeball machine! There are some areas that need maintenance however--Areas on the wall where stuff has obviously been taken down, missing outlet plate covers, wear and tear type stuff that hasn't been fixed, wobbly bath faucet downstairs and the outside of house/lawn/landscaping--siding is worn and dirty, grass needs to be mowed, overgrown plants is not a good first impression. A couple other suggestions would include adding hooks in bathrooms and bedrooms, vanities in the bedrooms so multiple people can get ready, and adding more artwork/decor. Overall, we would stay here again with a large group when in the area but would like to see some maintenance improved to take it up a notch.
Curbside appeal was not good. I was expecting the lawn to be manicured and it was not. The neighbors yards were cut and neat. The back yard also needed attending. The grass was cut while we were there but first impressions are lasting ones.
The lights were flickering up and down. I called the property manager for assistance and the response was quick. He told me how to make the correction.
Not a bad stay but for the money and how early I booked the property my first impressions should have been wow, like the pictures were when I chose the particular property.
We had a total of 9 adults and 3 kids (5, 1, and 8 months) stay in the house for a week and it was everything we needed and more! The beds and pillows were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on staying in a rental house or hotel. The laundry room was great for washing out the messes the kids made and we really enjoyed cooking and gathering in the clean kitchen around the large island.
The only downfalls I saw were the lawn/outside area and the noise level within the house.
The lawn needed to be cut and there were weeds everywhere. It made it so that we could not enjoy using the grill or hanging out outside at all. It wasn’t a huge deal as we had other family in the area and enjoyed the amazing weather at their house.
The walls in the house seemed a bit thin and you could hear everything going on in the basement when other people were trying to sleep upstairs. It wasn’t so bad that the kids couldn’t sleep but it was noticeable at times. I also wasn’t able to plug the drain in the bathtub in the bathroom upstairs. we ended up just bathing the kids in the shower which was not ideal
One suggestion I have to the homeowners is to move the king bed that is in the basement to where the ping pong table currently is. Where the bed is currently was a little awkward with it being the first thing that you see when you walk down the stairs.
Other than those minor things, this was a great house and we would absolutely stay here again the next time we are in the area.
We just completed a 4 night stay at Moxie and really enjoyed our stay. We were in town for a wedding and Moxie was a great spot for a multi family stay as we had children and grandparents in our group. Basement games were a hit with the kids and location was close to everything we needed. Overall it was a great stay in Oswego!
This place needs some TLC. Grass a foot tall, several broken shelves, stained pillows, moldy and dirty siding, rusty back door, full stinky garbage, and cobweb filled entry.
We live locally and were displaced for home repairs. This location was perfect for what we needed and had plenty of space. It's an older home that has been upgraded. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. FYI...If you are taking a small pet, be careful when letting them out as we did see some coyotes!
This house is extremely comfortable and wonderfully outfitted. Unlike many rental houses, we didn’t feel we needed to run out and get necessaries like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. and there were many items we were happily surprised by, like full coffee supplies and good toiletries in all the bathrooms. We originally rented the house to stay close to family for Christmas, but my father passed a few days before our arrival and the house turned into the place for the funeral luncheon and general gathering place for our grieving extended family. It worked perfectly. There were different areas for small groups to gather, and kids of all ages had a great time with the game room in the basement. We will be back!!
The house was exactly as promised. It’s perfect for large families with loads of space for fun. The basement was one of the highlights with the games and space to enjoy everyone. We will definitely use his place again.
