Welcome to our little piece of paradise!
HOME: Villa Aprica sits about 300 feet above Coral Bay overlooking Hurricane Hole and the national park to the east. Looking south, Coral Bay is directly in front and 1200-foot Bordeaux Mountain is to the west. The breezes keep it comfortable inside and out, gently rustling the dozen palm trees on the property. Enjoy easy and comfortable barefoot living with tile and marble floors throughout – including the covered porches and the large deck and pool area. The layout allows for plenty of space to gather poolside or on the well-shaded porches on the top and lower levels. The three bedrooms are very private with each having its own air conditioning, ceiling fan, full bath, and ample closet space. Each bedroom has a King Size Bed - one can be converted to 2 Twins. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each have a full bath en suite and are accessed from the lower patio. The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, sharp knives, coffee maker, coffee grinder, spices, cooking oil, and all the cooking basics. The Weber grill on the deck will be ready for you if you choose to grill poolside. We added a large solar system to the property in late 2024 to ensure our guests enjoy the villa’s conveniences even when the local power grid goes down,
LOCATION: The Villa is up the hill above the famous Skinny Legs restaurant. Other local restaurants nearby include Rhumb Lines and Salty Mongoose Pizza. Plus, you'll find several small grocery stores offering everything from meat and produce to beer, wine, and rum. The local USVI Fire and Rescue squad station is at the bottom of the hill. We are grateful for their service in our community.
ACTIVITIES: For active vacationers, the Johnny Horn Trail is a short ten-minute walk from the house to the trail entry. This steep trail brings you high above Coral Bay and the North shore with inspiring views. Its access to an extensive network of trails allows you to explore the Brown Bay Trail, the ruins above Waterlemon Caye/Leinster Bay and more. The hiking can be steep on island, but it is a great way to explore off the beaten path places and discover wildlife and unexpected ruins. If you’re up for a challenge, you can hike up Bordeaux Mountain on the road and descend to the south shore via the Bordeaux Mountain Trail. It’s a heck of a challenge but the views of the USVI, BVI and south shore of the island are spectacular. We love to hike, so we have lots of tips to share on hikes and places to explore. For lazy beach days, you’ll love Maho, Salt Pond, Hanssen, Haulover (south), Cinnamon Bay, and Trunk Bay to name a few.
TRANSPORTATION: Renting a car is strongly recommended when visiting to explore our small island. The road leading up to the villa is concrete and well maintained. Four-wheel drive is not needed to access the villa, but other parts of the island might be best with a Jeep or other 4WD. There is private parking at the villa with room for at least two vehicles. The beaches are all a short drive away with Maho Bay and Francis Bay being the closest north shore beaches. Salt Pond and Hanssen Bay are the closer beaches with southern water exposures. We are happy to answer questions about all the famous and not-as-famous beaches on the island.
AMENITIES: Beach towels, six beach chairs and a cooler are ready for you when you explore the beaches of St. John. Maho Bay, Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay have food and drinks/alcohol available, but the rest of the beaches do not, so the cooler will come in very handy. We don’t provide snorkeling gear for health-related reasons, but there are several places to rent it by the day or for the week. There are lots of sea turtles grazing and it’s something special to watch them through snorkel gear.
TECH: The property has solid Wi-Fi connectivity (usually between 80-100 mbs) if you need to do a little work or want to stream the latest on Netflix, Hulu, etc. We have no trouble with Zoom calls and video conferencing. The living room has a 32" TV with an Apple TV for streaming. But in our experience the views, a good meal, and a little music makes you forget about the world back home.
ASSISTANCE: The property management team is on-island and just a call or text away if you need anything during your stay. We will do our best to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
ABOUT US: After renting this villa in 2021 and 2022 (known then as Villa Adeste), we are thrilled to be the new owners. We fell in love with it after spending a month here each year. Renamed as Villa Aprica (which means having lots of sunshine), the home is ready for you to experience Coral Bay. We will keep the stellar reputation of this Villa intact as we work to make your time on St. John memorable and relaxing.
We know you will also fall in love with Villa Aprica for your island getaway!
