About this property
Charming Uptown home - next to Audubon Park
Inviting, quiet, Uptown home located two blocks away from Audubon Park, and walking distance to Tulane/Loyola University and the streetcar. The neighborhood is extremely safe, peaceful, and beautiful. This is my personal residence that I rent when I travel for work, so it feels like your own home away from home - from the furnishings to the fully stocked kitchen to the little details offered with love and a personal touch. It is meticulously cleaned in my absence to prepare for guest arrival.
This is a two bedroom, two bath house, with a living room, full kitchen, laundry room, and office. Both beds are queen size. The pictures track the rooms, front to back. The house has central AC/heat, except for the laundry room, bathroom, and upstairs bedroom in the rear of the house (which are additions to the original house). Rather, the upstairs bedroom features two AC window units and radiant heaters. The house also has ceiling fans throughout. Also, please note that the stairs to the upstairs bedroom are slightly steeper than average (9.5 inches vs. 7.5 inch standard height) - look at the photos - and so might be a little challenging for the infirm and the inebriated.
The upstairs bedroom, rear bathroom, and laundry room can be accessed from the rear of the house. If you wish, you can close the office door to the the laundry room to make the rear of the house a private space. This is what I do when I am home/in town, renting only the upstairs portion of the house.
For this listing, the entire house is available to you, except for the master bedroom closet and the wicker armoire in the office (the green room). Please, make yourself at home, and enjoy your stay :)
I only rent the entire house on AirBnb when I'm away - otherwise, I live in this house! That is to say, the contents of the house are my personal belongings, not generic rental amenities, so please be respectful. You are welcome to use anything that you find, in the kitchen and otherwise. The armoire in the master bedroom has been cleared out for you to use, as well. The only space that is "off limits" is the bedroom closet. There is a "lock" on it, but it doesn't really work, it's just to remind guests that I've stuffed all my belongings in there!
There is a long-term renter on the other half of the duplex, and she works regular business hours, so please be extra respectful of noise - the soundproofing on this old house is not the best.
I've set the thermostat for the central AC/heat, but feel free to adjust to whatever temperature that makes you comfortable. I just ask that you return it to my settings whenever you conclude your stay.
When you leave, just replace the key in the lockbox. Place any towels, blankets, etc. in a pile on the bedroom when you leave, and I'll take care of the rest.

About the host
Hosted by Sean McDowell

Hello, my name is Sean, and I am an avid traveller who loves meeting new people. I have worn many hats in my life, including work as a scuba diving instructor, an electrician and a lawyer. I grew up in Florida and attended university in New Orleans and New York City, both cities that I adore. I took my first backpacking trip twenty years ago, spending 7 months exploring Mexico and Central America. Since then, I have travelled through or lived in Southeast Asia, Europe, parts of South America, and the Caribbean. I love live music, especially indie/alternative rock, dance (especially house), and jazz and blues. I love to cook, and I enjoy all kinds of food - one of the best aspects of travel. I love big cities, but I also love the great outdoors, whether I’m hiking a mountain or sailing the ocean. I am animal friendly, especially cats. I’m open and friendly, generous and respectful.
Why they chose this property
I enjoy sitting on my porch, or even spending time inside. I painted every inch of the house myself, creating an inviting, cozy environment. I love to cook, and I have set up my kitchen with everything that I need.
What makes this property unique
Audubon Park is practically my backyard, and the house is within walking distance of the streetcar and Tulane and Loyola universities. Safest part of the city, with private neighborhood security patrolling the area. Very quiet, very beautiful, well-maintained, and walkable.
