Affordable, Cozy Honeymoon, Spring Break, Bay View Apartment

LA MARGUERITE APARTMENT is our affordable, luxurious, cozy, studio apartment, located within the newly built BAYSIDE VILLA ST. LUCIA - a private property offering three apartments (LA ROSE, L'IXORA and LA MARGUERITE Apartments) in a quiet residential area located on the outskirts of Castries City, St. Lucia and perched 145 ft above the Caribbean Sea on the La Toc hillside.

NOTE: Tax + Service Charge Included
CHECK-IN Time 4:00pm ; CHECK-OUT Time 11:00am

LA MARGUERITE APARTMENT is surrounded by rich natural vegetation, and boasts a panoramic view of the tranquil Castries City Bay, Vigie Peninsula, Vigie Lighthouse, George Charles Airport (SLU), Vigie Cove Marina, Point Seraphine Duty Free Shopping Complex & Cruise Ship Terminal and Castries City; as well as a hint of the island’s breathtaking northern region from Choc Bay to Gros Islet, visible just beyond the picturesque Vigie Peninsula.

The elegant fully furnished self catering LA MARGUERITE APARTMENT is engulfed by all that guests would require for an enjoyable stay. You are within walking distance (½ mi) from the sun-drenched white sand La Toc Beach and it's fun water sports; a beautiful undulating 9 hole Golf Course manicured to perfection; and the Redland Spa featuring its 'Rub-A-Dub-Dub Two In A Tub' full body massage special. Also, the public transportation “bus stop” is but a one minute walk away from the apartment.

The Castries Bay area is home to many delightful restaurants and bars, which are located either on the shoreline of the Vigie Cove (3 mi drive), or downtown central Castries (2 mi drive). Rodney Bay Village (6 mi drive north) and Gros Islet Town (6.5 mi drive north), with their many exquisite restaurants, bars and night life traditionally beckons all. However, the local flavours emerging from the “Fish Fry Festival” in Anse La Ray Village (6.6 mi drive south), as well as the restaurants and marina night life at Marigot Bay (4.5 mi drive south) cannot be out done and eagerly awaits you.

If shopping is your forte, Castries City is your place. The shops in central Castries, and in the newly built Blue Coral Mall, offer everything you can possibly need at very attractive prices. However, if you fancy duty free shopping this can be achieved within La Place Carenage Duty Free Shopping Mall in central Castries, and at the Point Seraphine Duty Free Shopping Complex - a 3 minute ferry ride from La Place Carenage to the opposite side of the Castries Bay.

LA MARGUERITE APARTMENT, with its private balcony entrance, provides guests with independence, privacy, relaxation and security. This studio apartment is designed to house two adults. Older children or larger groups may require an addition apartment on property. Note, our hillside location may not be suitable for guests with walking challenges.

After your airport pickup the chauffeur will stop at a supermarket / convenience store, allowing you to “stock up” with supplies for your vacation. Otherwise simply e-mail the shopping list at least 48 hrs before your arrival. Your room will be charged with your pre-arrival purchase.

It is your vacation and we are equipped to make it the most enjoyable and memorable holiday you have ever experienced. Your wedding, car rental, deep sea fishing, taxi tour to Soufriere Sulphur Springs and Piton Mountain Peaks (13 mi drive), rainforest sky rides, helicopter tours, morning jogs with the property owners, etc., are all easily arranged. You request it, we will provide it ....... guaranteed!!!

Beautiful View, Nice Apartment
Bayside Villa's view is awesome and the location to Castries and Rodney Bay is great. John and Shirley are excellent hosts...John picked us up at the airport which was great and we stopped at a grocery store on our way in which was very helpful and thoughtful. John also made arrangements with a company to bring a rental car to us the following day which eliminated any potential hassles. My daughter and I stayed for one week and felt very comfortable there and throughout our exploring of Saint Lucia. We certainly can recommend this place for anyone who is looking for an affordable place to stay in an area that has a lot to offer nearby.

Traveled for business
The room was very comfortable and clean. Anthony picked a group of us up at the airport and was very pleasant. He made a stop at a beautiful overlook and for groceries. John drove us to a great restaurant the first night so we could have a nice dinner. We were all given local cell phones so we could make arrangements for a taxi or excursions. The description of the room and the location was very accurate and the property was well-maintained. John was very helpful with any questions that I had. I strongly recommend this property for anyone traveling on business or pleasure.

Nice place for a great price
We stayed in the studio apartment for a week in March 2013 and had a great time. We arranged through John to have Anthony pick us up at the airport. The drive to the apartment was about an hour or so but you don't notice since your checking out the views and talking with Anthony. We made a stop at a Super J (grocery store) on the way there and bought some grocerys. I would recommend the grocery store in Rodney bay for a way better selection. John and Shirely met us at the apartment and made us feel right at home. The studio apartment has everything you need except for a couch/love seat. The kitchen is full size with many appliances such as a toaster, coffee maker, oven, full size refridge, etc. There are plenty of outlets to plug in U.S. stuff. The AC works good although nothing for the bathroom. Yes there are numerous dogs around but they are very small and do not approach you because John has a "no dog contact" policy. We had no issue with sleeping at night because of them. Once in awhile we could hear the neighbors dog barking but the AC drowned them out. The bed was a bit hard but I have yet to find one that's not in my many trips to the Caribbean. John arranged to have a car for us for a cheaper rate than any car rental places and they dropped it off on Monday. Really nothing to it, sign a bunch of papers and your ready. Driving on the opposite side of the road is a leap of faith on day one but by the second you'll be a pro! I would describe the driving as a "go with the flow" style since many traffic lights dont work, no traffic cops and everyone is a maniac. The apartment is not by any shops/resturants but the Sandels resort across the street has a great beach and John will arrange to let you use their lounge chairs. The walk there is paved but on a steep hill (10 min). It will wear you out! Make sure to get out and explore! We drove to a different beach everyday while stopping at attractions along the way. It's definately a 3rd world country but we felt safe. I wouldn't recommend the street party on Friday night in Gros Inlet. There where a lot of shady people trying to sell me drugs. Best snorkeling that I found was at Anse Chastanet and then Anse Cochan. Best place to walk around and shop with tons of resturants was Rodney Bay. Bring lots of $$, food was so so for $75 - $100 for 2. The best meal we had was at Pizza Pizza for about $28. Overall staying at John & Shirleys allowed us to get out and enjoy, thanks!

Great view, challenging terrain
The property is located approximately a one hour drive from Hewanorra IA so you get to see quite a bit of the island on the drive in. Our host, John and Shirley, were very helpful, recommending activities and suggestions for getting around. There's even a favourite taxi driver, Anthony...very pleasant and accommodating. Our unit, the studio apartment, was meticulously clean and fairly well appointed. Would have been nice to have a small couch to sit on to watch TV. The property is located on a hillside, so you're either walking up or walking down about 150 ft at 35 degree angle...wheelchair riders beware! Also note that transportation is required to get anywhere....buses are frequent and cheap (and interesting). The view is great...cruise ships in the bay passing in front of the property, the ocean in the distance. Great to sit in the shade on the 'patio/balcony' enjoying the cooling breezes. Not too many nearby activities/attractions/restaurants to enjoy, except perhaps a day at the nearby Sandals Resort. Recommend Rodney Bay for your 'western' shopping experience, Castries Market for your Carribean shopping experience, or various tours of your choice....John can help you arrange. So, on the downside.....the remoteness of the property AND the barking dogs, especially at night (bring earplugs!!)

what you see is happily what you get!!!!
My hubby and i just spent two weeks in the La rosa apt, the apt is spacious, clean, with great air conditioning, we made lots of meals because of our two weeks stay and enjoyed the views immensely. We recommend binouculars which we forgot and running shoes, you are walking and climbing up hills if you stay here. We loved it and really enjoyed the buses that were easy to ride after our tour of castries with the owners son it helped to familiarize ourselves with castries and our new home. This is a great start to your holiday and we recommend it. We then were travelling all around on the buses we went to pigeon island and marigot bay by bus its very cheap. We did find the cabs expensive we usually took bus to redruit beach rodney bay our fav beach for 16 EC round trip which is 6 US dollars...we went our for supper one night and it cost us 40 us dollars for cab ride to rodney bay ...and if you share cabs they just up the price per person....we just made our days around the buses and in the evening made our suppers at the villa and enjoyed the views...john and shirley helped us when we needed it....we missed having a pub or beach close by but adapted because of the beautiful villa and view..la toc beach is a fifteen minute walk downhill so you have to get back up hill lol...we would highly recommend staying here ...i personally had only one complaint and that was the barking dogs around villa and area..there are three dogs at villa they bark throughout day and night on and off ..no one else seemed to mind them but me ..thanks john and shirley for all your hospitality and also our tour guide of castries

Perfect base of operations for getting "off the beaten path"
My wife and I recently spent eight days on winter holiday in St Lucia. The majority of the time we stayed at a studio apartment at the Bayside Villa, just outside of Castries. We tend to avoid packaged experiences and touristic "destinations" in favor of immersion in local places and culture, and the Bayside Villa seemed to offer an affordable and pleasant place to spend our nights in St. Lucia. We were satisfied on these counts and more. The proprietors, John and Shirley, were wonderful hosts, very accommodating and generous in both time and advice. They helped us to get our bearings and to feel at home in Castries / St. Lucia. Once, at the beginning of our stay, their bright and engaging teenaged son even accompanied us to town and gave a charming tour of downtown Castries. We got to know a few locals and felt comfortable hanging out there, although the bulk of our time was spent on day-trips to beaches, hikes in national parks, and nearby towns and villages. For all of these the owners provided excellent recommendations. (We eventually spent a couple of days in Soufrieres and found Castries to be much more cosmopolitan and accessible, especially as a base of operations for other sights and activities in St. Lucia.) As advertised, there is a beach within easy walking distance (La Tac). Although this beach is dominated by a Sandals resort, it is nonetheless very pleasant, especially if you arrive early in the morning and more or less have the water to yourself. There are numerous beaches to be found within half an hour of Castries, accessible by taxi or, as we preferred, local buses and water taxis. The apartment itself was commodious enough for basic needs, and we managed to cook several nice meals in the little kitchen. We also spent many mornings and evenings on the porch dining, drinking, and watching the boats and ships come and go on the harbor. The view of the bay and Castries is spectacular. . . . All in all, an enjoyable and memorable stay, thanks in no small part to the kindness and thoughtfulness of the owners. We would definitely return!

We were nothing but impressed!
This was our first VRBO experience but if they are all as good as this one we won't rent a hotel for vacation ever ! We rented both condos for 1 week and both were as clean, quiet, convenient and had a spectacular view on the Castries Bay. Big thanks to John, Shirley and the kids, we had a wonderful time. Very courteous hosts and they sure did help in making this vacation in St.Lucia very special. Hope to see you all soon !

We Enjoyed our Stay!
We stayed in the La Marguerite apartment of Bayside Villa for six nights in March, 2012. The studio apartment was just the right size for the two of us, and was furnished with everything we needed for our stay. The owners, John and Shirley, were very accommodating hosts and provided us with insider tips on making the most of our stay. We enjoyed sitting on the small balcony and enjoying the views of Castries Bay. Bayside Villa is conveniently located on the bus route to Castries, and we made frequent use of the local buses to get to town, where we could transfer to other buses to further explore the west coast of St. Lucia. Though typically crowded, the buses are an enjoyable and inexpensive means of transportation around the island. We would recommend staying at Bayside Villa for its location in a residential community with convenient access to all that Castries has to offer.

Beautiful views, safe, clean, comfortable
We left the winter-cold Toronto, Canada, in January and and arrived to balmy St.Lucia a few hours later, staying in La Rose apartment in Bayside Villa in January. The bay views from the terrace are breathtaking and very relaxing with sail boats, fishing boats and huge cruise ships gliding right by, you could really enjoy your morning coffee and all hours just enjoying the view. The cruise ships leaving at dusk with all lights glittering and majestically gliding through the calm sea is just like a scene from a movie... We really had fun taking local mini buses to bustling city centre, it is very cheap and you only need to wait less than 5 min. at any given time and it only takes another 5 min. to get there. Almost every day we went to the huge local market buying fresh veggies, fruits and fish: cooking was easy in the apartment's fully equipped kitchen. The villa is clean, safe and comfortable, we did not even need to use air conditioning, since sleeping with open windows is totally safe. Owners Shirley and John are the best, they know everything about St.Lucia, excellent info when we needed. An easy place to take day trips anywhere on the island!

Incantevole appartamento!
Orietta & Flavio

Great location
John & Shirley are kind and welcoming; we arrived to St Lucia for a quick trip to attend a destination wedding...Bayside Villas was a perfect location to our friends; we found John to be wonderfully accomodating; although we would have enjoyed staying longer and getting to know him and his family better. He picked us up from the airport down south, and since we had a lot of desired activities for a short stay, he made sure we didn't waste any time :) so....we stopped for ziplining right away; it was a thrilling adventure for a first time! He patiently and kindly waited for us (~ 45min-1 hour) He also stopped along our route to take in the views and photos, including site of the General's mansion; he also was nice and thoughtful to take us for shopping at the local grocer... we got to our apartment, which was charming and nicely inviting... We had a wonderful time! We attended the wedding and spent most of our time with dear friends and made a few new ones; we went on Man of Sons day tour by speed boat along the west coast to Pitons, volcanos, mudbathing, botanical gardens, snorkeling and a most delicious Creole homecooked lunch; we returned to the hotel, spent the evening dining and entertained; all wrapped up in a perfect getaway weekend in PARADISE..... without insect bites, which amazed us :) John and Shirley are great hosts and would have much enjoyed spending more time talking with them, which will make for another wonderful visit. Thank you both! Take care Sarah and Eric

Wonderful Service and Excellent Views
My wife and I spent 8 short days in St Lucia in March/April and had the privilege of staying in the smaller, though no less intimate, suite in John and Shirley's vacation rental. From our first enquiry many weeks before arrival, John went out of his way to answer our many questions; from that point, we knew we would feel very much at home. Upon arrival at Hewanorra Airport in the south, we kept John waiting, as our plane was the fourth jet to land and there was a long lineup. John kept good humour and gave us a wonderful ride to our villa, after stopping at the nearest market for us to stock up on supplies for the week. On arrival at "home", we received wonderful rum punches and met John and Shirley's very helpful daughter and son. The photos on this website exactly depict what you'll get, and one feels so part of Castries harbour and the cruise ship scene when a new ship or two arrive each morning (except Sunday). One can easily wile away each day sitting and reading on the verandah if that is what one wants, but there is no shortage of boats and planes (taking off and landing at Vigie airport) to see, not to mention all the dogs! We were also very impressed with the fact that John and Shirley were always there to assist us and answer questions, but made a point of leaving us alone to explore and discover this beautiful island on our own. They were never short of information and assistance if we needed it. Another plus was a cell phone loaned to us for our stay, so we could make local calls for the week. Why don't others think of this idea? There are no negatives about the property or the unit, but one should be warned that the driveway is steep and always gave us exercise as we walked it. La Toc Road is somewhat isolated, but we always walked everywhere anyway - wanting to meet local people. La Toc Beach, which is our favourite, is not far away and we swam there daily. There are not really any restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but Castries is a short van/transit ride away. One can also walk up to the Governor General's mansion and Morne Fortune - both worth experiencing. I would recommend this property without hesitation, and know that you will get excellent service. Should we ever make our way back to SL, we would stay here again. Thank you, John and Shirley. M and H

Now Happy and Relaxed....NO WORRIES!!!
My wife and I recently completed a glorious 10 day stay at LA MARGURITE apartment. Everything was absolutely perfect! The property is every bit as wonderful as described both in the posting and in the reviews that we had read prior to booking. I must admit that I was a bit suspicious of the reasonable cost, after all where we come from you can hardly get a bad hotel room while travelling for the cost of the apartment. This is due to the hosts, John and Shirley, and their most gracious attitude toward sharing their dream with others by providing reasonably priced lodging in order to allow working folks like us (and them!) the vacation of a lifetime without breaking the bank. In turn they work very hard at keeping this property clean, beautiful and most inviting. You can see when you enter the apartment the subtle touches they have added that truly make it their own from interior appointments to the beauty of the yard that makes a very pleasing foreground to the view of Castries Harbor. Although getting around was easy and convenient using the public transportation, we got the feeling just from relaxing on the balcony overlooking the harbor that we really didn’t need to go anywhere to be happy as we enjoyed Shirley’s welcome rum punch. As John put it during one of our conversations when you sit out and look at the scenery here “the troubles of your day just seem to melt away.” Thanks to our hosts getting there was the hardest part of the trip even with the direct flight out of JFK. John picked us up at the airport and showed us the sights on the way to Castries. Once we arrived John was sure to point out to us where to go and how to get around as he stopped us off for some grocery shopping. Using his direction, we had a great time doing what we wanted when we wanted to do, no cruise or resort people and no rushing from one place to another, always landing back at our home away from home. Little things like the local cell phone that was provided made it easy to communicate and John was so gracious as to use it himself to check on us the first few days to make sure we were OK and did not need anything. Ten days of “no worries” was just what the doctor ordered after the horrific winter we had endured in the Northeast US. We will certainly return to LA MARGURITE, in fact cannot wait until we are able to. John, I still want the first booking in the penthouse. God bless you and your wonderful family, we can't wait to see you once again.

A Home Away From Home
The La Marguerite apartment at Bayside Villa is everything that it is advertised to be and more. It is ideally located high upon a hill facing north with a spectacular view of the deep-water port of Castries and the entire coast all the way up to Pigeon Island. The studio suite that we stayed in was simply, yet delicately decorated, and included a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom and access to a laundry facility. All of these combined gave us the “home away from home” feeling we were hoping for from our accommodations. St. Lucia is a beautiful island with all the exotic and tropical attributes you might expect, but from our experience, the most beautiful aspect of our vacation to St. Lucia was meeting the owners, John and Shirley, and their two children Xenia and Yuerik. They were always accessible and genuinely willing to help us in any endeavour to explore and experience all that the island has to offer. We wish to thank you all for making our vacation time spent at Bayside Villa a truly memorable experience. We look forward to visiting you all again some-day.

Heavenly Views. Classic Hosts. Awe Inspiring Island! - Honeymooners in St. Lucia
When my wife and I were looking for a place to stay in St. Lucia, we thought, like most people would...How can we stay as LONG as possible without breaking the bank, yet still have a great place to stay that was nice and comfortable and conveniently positioned on the island. After looking at the pictures that John and Shirley posted as well as seeing the AMAZING price per night, we thought this was too good to be true. I mean, if something is that inexpensive your logical side comes out and you start thinking of all the possibilities as to HOW in St. Lucia can you REALLY have a good place to stay for such a low price. It wasn't a good place...It was a GREAT place! Not only were the views MAGNIFICENT (the pictures don't do it justice) but the hosts, John and Shirley were EXCEPTIONAL. They were extremely helpful, provided us with our own cell phone, told us where to go and where not to go (saving us tons of time) and different tours that we may enjoy. To say we had the best time of our lives would be the only way to put it. The first day we got there we were greeted by the entire family. They were so hospitable and when we walked into our new home for the next 12 days we were blown away to see an open suite furnished with a fully functioning kitchen (granite countertops for a nice touch) dining area, queen bed and full bathroom. We thought that this was going to be a place that we would just lay our head down, sleep, wake up and head out but there were days where we literally sat on the front porch for hours at a time. We chose to immerse ourselves in St. Lucia's culture, drinking coconut water and eating the jelly, playing dominoes, walking the streets of the cities, eating the local food (best place was on Vigie Beach just across from the airport), taking public transportation everywhere so we could meet locals (when you get on the bus say "Good Morning/Afternoon" its a lot of fun!) Sierra and I were sad to leave but hey, we had to go make more money to come back! Would we ever come back and stay in this same suite? If it's not booked solid YOU BET! We know it may sound like we're selling this suite to you and WE ARE! The reason is because you know as well as we do that when you come across something good you want everyone to know about it! So can you blame us? Thanks again John and Shirley!!!

The Best Vacation Ever
My husband and I stayed in La Marguerite at Bayside Villa the last week of January and thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience. John & Shirley were exceptional hosts; they recommended restaurants, tourist sites, gave us directions to practically every part of the island, and went above and beyond our expectations. They even arranged our beachside wedding at the majestic Calabash Cove and were our witnesses at our ceremony. We are truly thankful and so lucky to have met such wonderful people in St. Lucia. The studio is equipped with full amenities and is as warm and welcoming as the family that runs it. The view of La Toc Bay is beautiful and relaxing, as is the breeze that comes off the water up the hillside. Considering all it offers, the price is a major steal! I recommend La Marguerite 100% and would stay there again if we ever came back to gorgeous St. Lucia!

Great Value in a warm home
Our stay in La Marguerite was excellent. We had welcoming hosts and a very well-equipped studio. John and his family, including his two children, were very helpful. They were attentive to our needs and really friendly. The beach nearby, La Toc, was a 7-minute walk up and down a hill, which we enjoyed thoroughly. All in all, we highly recommend the hospitality of Bayside Villas. We already miss having our breakfast on the small terrace that overlooks the bay. Thank you and your family, John!

Everything I needed and more!
I stayed at La Marguerite at the end of October for one week. The trip started off by being picked up at the airport by the owner followed by a wonderful drive up to the apartment filled with lots of information about St. Lucia. Before getting to the apartment, John stopped at a grocery store to pick up some food to get me started. The accommodations were perfect, very clean, and very well decorated. Everything you need is in the apartment. The best part about my trip was the owners...they were available to help with any excursions I wanted to take, recommended local restaurants, and were available for any questions I had. The beach is within walking distance and everything else you would need is a quick drive or bus ride away. You can not go wrong by choosing La Marguerite as your vacation rental, you will not be disappointed. Thank You John and Shirley for such a memorable vacation!
