This was a really fun property to stay at. It was very clean, and had everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. We had a lot of fun fishing on the lake and caught some bass, had a good time playing the pinball machine and other activities available. The property is very pretty. We really enjoyed our stay.
Greg was fantastic to book with. Very fast responses to any and all communications. The home was very clean, well stocked and quietly situated on a picturesque lake. Pin ball, ping pong and onsite boats helped fill our day with great memories!
While hurricane Milton threw a wrench into our plans, the host was wonderful to work with. He responded quickly to any questions and was very understanding about any changes we needed to make.
I'd definitely rent this property again. The property is quiet and beautiful and had everything necessary for a relaxing weekend.
Although it drizzled three out of the four days we were there, we enjoyed fishing off the dock at dawn and dusk. 8 bass and a good size crappie. A gator appeared and watched us fish for about an hour. We saw an owl land on top of the teatherball pole TWICE.
My wife, two boys and I wanted a short vacation getaway close to home and this lake house was perfect.
Really needed to bring nothing as it was probably the best stocked place we've ever stayed.
The lake is beautiful and the kayaks and jon boat were perfect for us.
The boys caught several bass right off the dock and loved playing on the second floating dock (as well as the pinball and arcade machines). Check in and communication with the owner was a breeze and we definitely plan on making this a repeat spot as it is closer to Gainesville and minutes from Hawthorne with lots of nearby amenities and fun things to do.
This was a great place for us to bring my dad away from the crowds. We could eat at home and spend time on the water or hiking/biking nearby. It was all we needed and so much better than camping.
I didn't know about the 15 or so stairs you had to take to get to the living area. The balcony had a rubber flooring that was very slippery when wet (which is very often here). We could not use it at all.
Literally the most peaceful place we’ve ever been to. Exactly what we hoped for!
Came to ocala for the rock the country festival, wanted to have a quiet place to unwind between shows. And this place didn’t disappoint. The lake was amazing especially since is was 97 degrees for 4 straight days. The canoes and kayaks were a huge bonus, also caught 10 good size bass. The house is so cozy, ac works fantastic, kitchen is fully stocked with everything someone can ask for. New tvs in every room not to mention the awesome video game machine and pinball..not a bad 11 year anniversary weekend. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you greg
We had such a goodtime there. So much you can do.The adults enjoyed the pinball machine, ping pong table,teetherball...We celebrated our great granddaughter 4th birthday while there and she said it was the so fun and wants to do it again...Thank you for sharing and giving us more memories!!!
We came down for John to fish! Our children live in Jacksonville and came over with the grands for two days. There were all sorts of toys and activities they enjoyed. They went on a canoe ride and played tether ball and ping pong and jumped and swam in the sandy beach. I enjoyed the kayaks and felt very safe in going around the lake. We made a fire and roasted marshmallows. John and our son fished at Lake Rodman Reservoir with a guide, but also caught some big ones of the on-site dock. The kitchen was fully furnished and we all had a great time. We ate at the Wrap Shack in Hawthorne and the Blue water cafe in Melrose.
Great area, good fish in water. Gators all over but best part of outdoors, they roam around water i dont bother them they dont bother you. Good firepit area and sunset is amazing over the water. Deer flys definitely excessively out but the owner did warn me as they were out alot more then usual.
Fantastic stay at Riley Lake house! We will be back again for a fun filled relaxing break!
We stayed at Riley Lake In early May and were lucky to watch nest of fledglings from white fuzzy babies to almost grown and ready to fly!! The young adults enjoyed all the amenities while we adult kids had a blast with pinball playoffs!! We enjoyed peaceful meals on the deck and by the lake. It is remote so need to plan ahead meals. There were great venues 30 to 45 minutes away. We were content to relax and enjoy each other!
The property owner, Greg, was fantastic and very helpful with every aspect of my stay. Quiet get away with no traffic noise, just the wonderful sound of nature.
Home was kept up and very clean.
However, would prefer not having to drive a ways to discard of my trash/garbage at end of my stay. First time ever having to do this at the conclusion of my vacation.
If you're looking for a secluded place to "chill" and relax? This is a great spot to do it.
Highly recommended.
We had a lovely time in this lakeside retreat. All the amenities were exactly as described. The property manager Greg reached out several times to make sure we were comfortable. I think the only drawback was the sulfurous (smelly) well water, but that's normal for Florida and there's an RO system for drinking water in the kitchen.
We enjoyed the tetherball and ping pong. And took out the boats everyday to paddle around this quiet lake. The pinball machines and video games went over well, especially with our 7 year old. It was a quiet, remote location that gave us the chance to disconnect and unwind. We would love to stay here again.
We could not have been happier with the whole experience. We rent 4 to 6 VRBO houses each year. Greg was hands down the best owner we have ever dealt with, and we have had some good ones in the past. House was exactly as described. The old pinball machines were awesome, ping pong table and tether ball were a blast. We caught a bunch 1 to 2lb bass and a pile of nice bluegill of the dock. We did not utilize the boats at all this time, as we just chilled on the property. We are already planning dates to bring the kids to Greg’s house, we will be back soon! Greg, thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy your property!
Small place. Plastic on sitting area roof is very slippery when wet - and holds water. Stair entrance going down is a bit scary. Would be nervous with small children. Good drinking water from RO in kitchen. 3 tables and 6 chairs not shown which came in handy. Good beds. Nice showers. Nice canoe. Cheap kayaks. Sand in lake nice for about 4 ft then mucky. We brought a large brush to get the sand off the bottoms of our shoes outside. Headache and sinus issues sleeping in garage bedroom due to chemical fumes. House is clean, just the garage fumes were a problem. If you get up a lot in the night, the walk through the garage to the bathroom is very inconvenient. There are good night lights. Deer/horse flies were a slight problem. Caught lots of bream at dock. Caught several small bass in the lake fishing from the canoe. Internet very slow for just reading the news must less a 30 sec clip. Unhappy with the 40 minute drive out of our way (there and back) to the dump for trash. Trash removal should be included in the cleaning fee. On a dirt road - some bad sections. The AC is at 85 at arrival which took well into the night to cool off. Nice bean bag toss boards. Nice kitchen and microwave. Hawks, owls, squirrels. Nice view. Overall a nice stay. Dock, canoe, lake, fish, roof seating were what we enjoyed most. Price is good. You just have to be aware this is a rustic place and all that entails.
