A beautiful location for post-construction stays
The location is as described - a perfect walk to the activity on Playa Bonita and calm vibes of playa coson. The current reality of the home is misrepresented on VRBO, which shows empty lots along the left side looking out to the ocean. These pictures are many years outdated. Currently, Nextdoor is a massive construction site (will be for a while). You listen to chainsaws all day, have no privacy and the view is 50% tin walls. When we informed the owners of the situation they seemed shocked and gave us a partial refund ($1,000 for a 7-night stay). They were friendly and helpful. However, it doesn’t seem possible they were not aware of a multi-year project occurring next door and the misrepresentation on VRBO is something future renters should be aware of. Renters should also know that the way the home is made results in a very slip-and-slide experience. We had close on concrete holding babies, for example. This is the case next to the pool and throughout the house. Ultimately, the most difficult was navigating unresponsive property managers when we needed help. All of this said, we appreciated the refund and owner responsiveness. The location was lovely, particularly as we had to spend all day away from the house to get away from the noise. Altagracia, who cooks breakfast and cleans was lovely and her service was invaluable. Once construction is done, we would consider staying there again, but would likely stay elsewhere where the marketing is more transparent.

I cannot recommend this villa unless substantial renovations are made.
Areas for Improvement: Pest Issues: Unfortunately, we encountered a number of pests during our stay, including rats, frogs, and an overwhelming number of mosquitoes. This significantly impacted our comfort. Connectivity: There was no internet available on the first full day of our stay, which was inconvenient. Kitchen Condition: The kitchen drawers were messy and not properly organized, and the dishes provided were both limited and unattractive. There were no dessert dishes, the coffee cups were insufficient, and there were only two wine glasses available. Refrigerator: The refrigerator was quite small, making it difficult to store food for a larger group. Cleaning and Maintenance: We noticed garbage accumulating near the service area and around the property, and the garden appeared abandoned and poorly maintained. Additionally, the pool towels were worn out, and the bathroom towels were so thick they didn’t dry properly and developed an unpleasant odor. Housekeeping: The housekeeping service was not up to expected standards, which contributed to the overall sense of neglect. The overall condition of the villa does not justify its current pricing of US$600 p/n, a more appropriate price is US$300 p/n

Punta Bonita Stay
The house is located in a perfect location. The ocean right out the back door. Playa Coson is just around the corner and is a calm very quite tranquil beach and just a few minutes walk the other direction along the beach is Playa Bonita that has a few more waves and is fun for surfing and boggie boarding. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance on Playa Bonita. The housekeeper Altagracia is great and was there everyday and cooked us several awesome Dominican Breakfasts. The house is in pretty good shape the only issue we had was some mice and Cucharachas. A little exterminating service would take care of those issues. Overall it was an awesome stay.

Beautiful property, stunning location, great views and staff
10 of us stayed at this house over Spring Break. The 2 hour drive from the airport was easy and the home is well worth the trip. Big pool and right on the ocean. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. A short walk from lots of quaint bars and restaurants. The house staff was wonderful and attentive. We had a amazing trip, would def go back. Brush up on your Spanish!

Perfect Villa in a perfect location
Our two families loved loved loved our stay at Villa Allegra! Being right there on the beach we had both the quietness of our own private secluded paradise and the proximity to our new favourite beach bar (el mosquito) at a 10 minute walk! Fantastic! We will go back for sure!!!

Absolutely Fantastic!
This property is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Everything in the photos represent everything you get. Being on the ocean having the luxury of this incredible home makes me wish you never had to leave. Altgracia watermelon is one of the most beautiful humans to live on this earth. She made our daily stay fantastic. Every morning with incredible breakfast in her love of the property really makes the stay at once in a lifetime opportunity. 10 minutes walk along the beach front brings you to about seven incredible resorts and restaurant/bars with great music island cocktails and surfing. Highly recommend this trip to anybody.

Perfect location
Usually I don’t write long reviews so I will do bullet points. Safety: we walked 3 miles south and 2 miles north and felt safe at all times. Location: your backyard is the Atlantic ocean, just priceless. Place: clean, the hot water is hot and the ac is cold. Service: we paid for Altagracia full services and she became family. Summary: we can’t wait to be back.

Magical location
Waking up with the sound of the Ocean and the beach at the front door, this house was perfect for us , plenty of space and good amenities. Having the pool was great for my kids as I much rather take long walks on the beach and paddle board ( brought my inflatable one with me). Restaurants , surf school are at a walking distance , you get to town in a 10mn drive and the airport of Samana is 30mn away. Everything was easy , we will be planning our next visit and I highly recommend this house if you are looking for peace , warmth and beauty , it’s perfection !

Fantastic stay!
The photos don’t do it justice. Wonderful house, great location, fantastic time. What we loved most is it felt like a home, and not just a rental. If you want a beautiful place, on the beach, you can’t go wrong here. We will definitely be back.

Review
I want to say that the property is located in a very nice beach. You have coson beach to your left and playa Bonita to the right. The views from the house are amazing. You have a beautiful garden and then you have the ocean. The owner was very nice. At first I thought the hurricane Dorian was going to hit Samana, I contacted the owner about maybe canceling the reservation and he was completely understanding and was willing to refund me 100 percent even though at the time the hurricane was past Samana and nothing had happen. Altagracia the maid was very helpful and we hire her services for two of the three night we stayed. Overall we had a great time at the property. I would have to point to a couple of things that in my opinion if they are fix would make this a perfect house. 1. The pool has an excellent size but unfortunately the blue paint is coming off. Our feet and back were always blue. Not sure what kind of paint was used so sometimes we were worry about our health but we had to enjoy our days there and could not see what could be done in three days to fix it while loosing the pool. 2. The beds are very uncomfortable and very hard to fall sleep. I believe the part below is concrete and then a mattress goes on top. The mattresses were very hard. This needs to be change right away. It was uncomfortable in all the rooms. 3. The windows are made of wood so when you close them they really don’t close completely so the air conditioner escapes very easy. On the smaller rooms this is not that bad BUT on the main room that is very big We never had a cold room. 4. Also you will have to pay for electricity on top of what you already pay for the rental. We pay 50 dollars for three days. We only had the ac working at night. For three night it was not bad but that is another expense you will incur together with hiring Altagracia to stay longer in your stay. It was about 40 dollars per night with both charges. Again not bad. I do not want people to think this is a bad house. Is located in a great place and the house is good. The views are great and we had a good time.

Great Location but looking a bit dated
The location on the Cap Bonita peninsula surrounded by some of the best beaches is hard to beat. There are restaurants and bars within walking distance, and the town is a short drive away. The house is looking a bit dated though, the lock up process with all the doors and windows is a bit cumbersome. The location and management of the villa was awesome, there was a small issue when we arrived and it was handled fast and efficient.

Beautiful and Private Paradise
We were 7 people and there was more than enough room for us. The owners even supplied two airmattresses to supplement the 4 king size beds. All of the rooms in the main house and bungalows are open and airy. My favorite part of the day were the mornings and opening up all the doors and shutters to the ocean view. The grounds were as equally maintained as the living areas. Altagracia came to clean each day, but we did not ask her to cook because we already have a person we've come to rely on in Las Terrenas. Next year, we will use both! I've been told her morning coffee is scrumptious. We have visited Las Terrenas for many years and Villa Allegra is now our favorite spot. The support staff were friendly and helpful, and the owners gracious and welcoming. The house and grounds feel very private. To the right along the beachfront you will find small hotels, houses, surf schools and outdoor restaurants. To the left, you can walk for an hour or so along fairly empty beach until you get to Playa Coson where there are excellent waves for body or board surfing. (There are good ones to the right of the house too.) The age range for our group was 10 to 60, and all of us felt blissful everyday except for the last day when we had to leave. We loved every aspect of our stay at Villa Allegra. Las Terrenas is a very lively Dominican town that over the years has made an effort to accomodate tourists. Thankfully, it is still truly Dominican. You can rent scooters from various places and locals sell gas in many of the bodega type stalls. The local people tell me that Christmas and Easter are the busiest and most crowded times of the year, so if you're looking for a really laidback, few tourists - kind of vacation, try Villa Allegra February thru October!

Lovely, quiet beach front home
We had a wonderful week long family vacation in Villa Allegre. Punta Bonita is a beautiful, quiet beach. This home is perfectly situated directly on Playa Bonita. We enjoyed getting up each day, walking across the lawn and spending the day on the beach: surfing, swimming, snorkeling and walking. We highly recommend contracting the additional services of the housekeeper/cook, AltaGracia, for daily breakfast and lunch. She is a wonderful cook and host. It is a pleasure to walk in off the beach to one of her delicious lunches. She prepared fresh fish, lobster, shrimp and a host of local specialties during our stay. Our family looks forward to future visits.

Wonderful!
We had a family vacation at Villa Allegra. The location of this house is fantastic. Beach front! Nothing but a pedestrian walk between the garden and the beach. Our experience was everything what we were looking for. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Villa Allegra is a great property with many amenities, great location. We felt as if we were on our own private island!.The staff (Alta) is friendly and thoughtful to detail. Overall, one of the most relaxing and beautiful places in the world. I would highly recommend this property for a family vacation.

Best Beach Property
We stayed in Villa Allegra for two weeks at the beginning of June. We had reserved the villa back in December. As I was showing the villa to one of my family members, I read the last review. Obviously, we became concerned and considered renting another villa. We talked to the owners who reassured us of the great condition of the villa. Well, great condition is an understatement. This was our third time in Terrenas, and by far Villa Allegra is the best property we have rented even our oldest son says he wants lo live there! The breeze from the ocean is felt in all areas of the house, and the house is kept immaculate. We went to the beach each day and bought oysters from a young guy- Michel- who also brought us fresh fish and octopus, this all in front the house! The help, Alta, prepares the best fried fish I have ever tasted. Alta was a delight. We would wake up with the smell of fresh brew coffee. A couple times she went to the market to buy us things we needed. Las Terrenas as a whole is not for the pampered traveller, but if you like it in the "raw" this is the place for you. Love it, recommend it, planning to go back.

Description misrepresented, overrated
The villa is placed in a most beautiful place of Punta Bonita, with miles of unobstructed view of blue sky and coral reefed sea, gorgeous palm trees, other villas at reasonable distance. BUT (there is a long list of buts, proving that a lot of elements in the villa description were untrue, or misleading). Most of the problem are related to geographical position , and to poor maintenance. The villa is placed outside the city limits of Las Terrenas, and as per owner admission, many services, like water, electricity, internet don’t perform as they should. Do not expect Internet to work, except for a total of couple of hours a day, intermittently. We had no internet for five days. Nowhere in the description of the villa is its position outside the city mentioned. Many other problems were due to the neglect and poor management. The villa is managed by AIC; they are supposed to bring villa to the best, before the new renters come. This did not happen. When we came, the bedrooms in the bungalow were stinking with mold; nobody could sleep there ; We found the boiler broken, so we had no hot water for five days. The grill did ignite; someone came, but did not fix it properly. The pool broke; seven days later the pool has not ready to be used. We tripped on some broken wood on the terrace. None of the ceiling fans in the living room worked. One had to be replaced. Many electrical outlets do not work (example: the ones by the nightstands; therefore no nightlight). TV down for non paid subscription. The villa is a cesspool of cockroaches and mosquitoes. Most of roaches were, and still are in the kitchen ( under furniture, in the drawers)and upper bedroom. Please see attached pictures. Fumigation was done outside the house, with no success. We killed some with ORO. Mosquitoes are very aggressive; I had to see a doctor to treat my very bad reaction. Please see pictures. Security is another issue: The village has a guarded main entrance, but the entrance from the beach is very accessible. ON Sunday, May 1st, three separate vendors trespassed the backyard; one went as far as in the kitchen, to get a knife. In many other days we had many workers (4-6 for each job, coming one by one or in small groups) to fix the mentioned problems.Very few introduced themselves or had an ID.Having so many people around at all times of the day made us very uncomfortable. We sent at least 20

A great villa for a great vacation!
My family just returned from Las Terrenas, where we stayed at the beautiful Villa Allegra. Villa Allegra is a warm and inviting villa with lots of charm and character, as well as a breathtaking view across its pool and rolling green lawn toward the gorgeous Playa Bonita. For those of us who like to swim, Villa Allegra has a very large pool and, just beyond its signature blue gate, an incomparable beach with calm waters and no crowds. If nature’s beauty combined with peace and quiet is what you crave, Villa Allegra will deliver. We highly recommend Villa Allegra. There are three special aspects of Villa Allegra we must highlight. First, working with Villa Allegra’s owner was wonderful. We had many questions about the villa and the Las Terrenas area. Villa Allegra’s owner was knowledgeable and responsive, and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. In addition, the owner’s property management company was responsive and provided excellent service. Second, we must highlight the charm of the villa itself. Villa Allegra is a Caribbean style, with cool white walls and rich brown wood shutters and doors. Every morning, we opened up the villa’s louvered folding doors to enjoy another “day in paradise”. The view toward Playa Bonita is magnificent. Finally, we must highlight Villa Allegra’s marvelous location. It is located on Punta Bonita, the point where two beautiful beaches, Playa Bonita and Playa Coson, meet. Here the waters are calm and crystal clear. And no crowds! On most days we were the only people on the beach, making it feel like we had our own private beach. If you want to see more people, the very vibrant town of Las Terrenas is a short drive away, where you can enjoy a culturally diverse mix of Dominican, French, and Italian and other international residents and tourists. If you choose not to cook in the villa’s large and fully-appointed kitchen, Las Terrenas has many excellent restaurants where you can choose among a variety of delicious cuisines. Staying at Villa Allegra, with its magnificent views, charm and character, warm and vibrant environment, large pool, and excellent management, made our vacation perfect.
