End of road with great views and water access

Mix of A and C- ! Views , decks, windows and location were fantastic. High ceilings and large bedrooms very nice. Wonderful access to Bay and ocean without using canal. We are kayakers and were pleased with location. Negatives are spiral stairs to use master bedroom was tough, drinking water is 5 gall bottles delivered but not hauled upstairs necessarily. Interior DIY finishes were rough and worn but that was ok with us. Cleaner and less junk would help.

Location location!!!

This was our second year back and have booked again for next year. The house is very comfortable and the views are AMAZING. We watched the sunrise from our bedroom balcony and sunset from the other second floor balcony. Quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Some great restaurants close by. Directly between Marathon and Key West 25 miles either way was perfect!! Rick the owner was very easy to work with. Can't wait for next year!!

Snowbirding in the Keys

This house has a beautiful view with easy access to open water. There were plenty of towels. Neighbors were very friendly and just a short drive or doable walk to bars and restaurants. The grocery store was a seven minute drive. House was very comfortable with incredible balcony views from every bedroom, kitchen and living room. Owners called first night to make sure we had everything we needed.

Unbeatable View!

I loved everything about this stay. The house is just as pictured and very comfortable. The kitchen had just about everything you need to cook real meals to take a break from the great restaurants in the Keys. The views off the balconies are incredible- especially the upstairs queen bedroom. I set up my office in there and have never had a more beautiful view than Newfound Harbor. The location is also great. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed walking the dog in the mornings and seeing all the birds during migration season. We were even lucky enough to see a pair of wild flamingos in the salt pond. We rented a boat for two weeks and the dock was easy to use. Being right on the channel made it easy to get out and see the area by water. There is a good bit of boat traffic in the canal, but we enjoyed watching it as part of our "entertainment." All in all, this was a lovely place to spend our September and I hope to come back in the future.

Newfound Harbor July 2023

Beautiful location. Wonderful views from balcony. House well maintained with lots of good kitchen equipment. Dock was more than adequate for our 23' boat. I didn't use boat ramp on site but it would probably work at high tide. We would definitely like to return.

Fisherman’s Dream

The location and views from this home cannot be beat, but the home needs a serious upgrade. The furniture and interior are very worn and outdated. Cracked tiles everywhere and wood that’s had obvious and significant water damage. The home is on a cistern (rain water collection system) but the owner does provide lots of bottled water. There were only 2 towels per bathroom and 1 washcloth so bring your own. Bedding pillows etc. are in need of replacement. The dock is fabulous and we were able to easily launch our 21 ft. Key west right on property from a primitive ramp. Important to note is that you’re at the end of a long canal and a single lane channel going out - so lots of wake and traffic, including a large dive boat that goes in and out - but again the dock is great with great bumpers. Canal depth runs 4-6 ft based on average tides. I think most fisherman would not care about any of the “home” items I mentioned - for me it was a disappointment for the cost.

Fun in the keys!

We had a great time! Beautiful location and great home! If your looking for 5 star pristine accommodation, go to a resort and give them your money. But if your looking for a nice no frills, 80s chic, comfort, with ocean access, and the most beautiful sunrise in the keys, stay here!!!

Excellent Location

We were minutes to all our favorite spots on the water! The owner had just put in a new dock that accommodated our boat perfectly. There is a variety of restaurants and a grocery store near the property. Escaping to Key West for the day was an easy 45 minute drive.

A Beautiful Spot

My wife and I spent the month of March 2019 at this beautiful spot. The location was ideal, in the lower Keys close to Big Pine, Bahia Honda State Park, and Key West but away from the crowds. The view was spectacular. The house was well-designed and built, with plenty of windows for light and ventilation and porches on all sides. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. The house would be excellent for boaters, at the end of a canal leading to open water. Since we weren't boaters, we could have done without the boats coming and going. But we wanted to be near water, and near water you have boats. Apart from that the house was very quiet. A downside to our visit was residual damage from Hurricane Irma, which hit the Keys hard in August 2017. As I know from previous experience, a shortage of skilled labor in the Keys means that getting work done is a challenge. The house was quite comfortable, but not all the damage had been repaired. I'm sure that frustrated the owner, who clearly cares about the house. We'd certainly come again.

Unbelievable Views and Location!

We've been home now for a few months, but all we can talk about is our stay at Looe Key Villa! From the moment we arrived, we were mesmerized by the views and the house. We ran around like little kids exploring all the amazing balconies and views. Every room has a balcony looking out to the canal or the ocean. We spent mornings watching the sun rise, and evenings under the starriest skies we've ever seen - because the house is so far from other light pollution - the stars are really intense. The owners were incredibly easy to work with and kind. We asked them a question or two during our stay and they responded right away. The location was perfect for us because we enjoyed the quiet, relaxation - sitting on the balconies and dock, watching the boats come in and out - but we were also about a 20-30 minute scenic drive from the nightlife of Key West. It's the best of both worlds. The rooms are well appointed and clean and the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils (obviously, you bring your own food) - we had more than everything we needed to cook our meals. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay! We'll definitely be back here the next time we're at the end of the US!

A Great Place for Family

I tried to hit 5 star but, for some reason, nothing happened when I chose it. My family and I spent our first stay on Ramrod at this home.(Usually stay on Big Pine). Most enjoyable was easy access to the deep water. We were able to wrangle lobsters a half mile from the house! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the water and have easy access to all the water activities. Good for couple with or without children. My grandson caught fish right off the dock. The home is a very casual laid back place where we felt comfortable and at home. Enjoyed the Tiki Bar right at the end of the road. Also, convenient access to all diving supplies. Comfortable beds, plenty of seating, lovely balconies.....nothing more to ask for. Thank you for allowing us to stay. My sweet Jack (our 4 legged child) loved chasing iguanas!!

Incredible Slice Of Paradise

A group of us decided on this home because we wanted easy boat access to open water and some privacy. When we arrived, we were quite pleased with the location and cleanliness as well. We were focused on boating, fishing, diving and drinking- so not being on Key West's back porch was a plus (a half hour away). We had a blast fishing for small fish off the dock and were a little ticked that lobster were out of season- they were everywhere. The only bad thing I can say is that it was a beast mooring our 20' boat when the wind was blowing >10 out of the east. That dock is in a little wind tunnel. We highly recommend this little slice of paradise for families, couples and friends.

Amazing week kayaking and more

Just spent a week here with my husband and grown children. We loved the home and location. My brother had rented a home on the other side of channel so we would kayak and swim and jet ski between homes it was great. Wonderful place to have family time relax and enjoy the beautiful water of the keys . Snorkeling was amazing at Looe Key. Planning on going back next year. Thanks Peg for your kindness next year I hope we can have that snorkel trip together.

mini season

This listing met my expectations and then some. We have been comming down for mini lobster season for years and this place was great. Just up the road is a Tiki bar one can walk to. The dock handled a 27 foot boat with ease. We were a party of 4 adults with 3 kids and found the listing very comfortable. Easy access to load and offload the boat at a local ramp for free. Peg could not have been easier to deal with and was very accessable by phone / email. We had such a good time we booked already for next mini season. Not to brag but we limited out on the 1'st day by 10:30. Views, comfort, key life style and hospitality what more can you ask for! Thanks again Peg.

Wow diver10! I have been coming to this house for about 10 years and every time there is improvements The TV upgrade was nice a couple years ago and the living room furniture was changed out. Water is not an issue, even with a group in the house. Between showering, rinsing gear, etc, never ran out of water even in the middle of a drought. The cleaning crew has always done a good job of having the house clean on arrival. They have also been fair when we left the house a mess, which isn't nice to do but we were in a hurry to leave a couple of times. This the kind of place where you go to get in touch with Florida keys living. Comfortable house with great views. I come to this listing to keep me going at work until I have the chance to come back! Mangroves are part of the keys, no getting rid of them. Maybe diver10 should stay at the Sheraton in Key West

Just Okay

Stayed at the home for the week of July 4th. The owner seems nice enough, but be forewarned that the cleaning company used for this house is very nit picky. We mopped floors, did all the laundry as asked, and still there were some very minor basic cleaning tasks that were cited so that more of our deposit was kept. Overall, the house is pretty average. It hasn't seen any updating since the 80's probably, there's no cable for the TV, and it runs off a cistern water collection system (rain water) which isn't advertised. So if there's no storms while you're there, you may run out of water. A lot of the views from the balconies are obstructed by mangroves. Just be aware of the issues. Its ok for diving.

July 4th week 2011

My family of 7 stayed at this house for 9 days and found it to be very comfortable and had everything that we needed. With it's 3 different balconies you have a view from every direction from sunrise to beautiful sunsets. It is close to picnic Island and Looe Key reef. If you love the keys you will love this house it is very Keyzzz and the last house on the point so you have a dirrect shot out, no canals or bridges. Don't forget to visit No Name Pub on Big Pine, the food and key deer are great. You are also 26 miles to Key West and Mallory Square. We would love to stay here again sometime.

I am a marine geophysicist who designed and built this unique house.

Why they chose this property

The dolphin fish + lobster are plentiful; scuba diving is great in the Newfound Harbor Sanctuary. The water is much clearer, the reefs are in better shape + less crowded than in the upper keys.

There are lots of cultural and sporting events in the area.

What makes this property unique

We are next to 3 tidal lakes with blue crabs in them. The osprey, heron, iguana + key deer are visible daily. Just relaxing on the balcony is wonderful.

We have a small picnic island just out the canal where locals gather. Free live entertainment is occasionally provided.

We are a short boat ride to the international resort, 'Little Palm Island.'
