About this property

Secluded Cabin Near Hood Canal & Olympic National Forest.

Isolated cabin on 5 acres of forested land. It's easy to feel a world away from any bustling city or sleepy town, here it’s you and nature. Once you step foot inside your new retreat you are greeted with professionally designed interiors that continue to make your experience even more exceptional. With cathedral ceilings, a wall of windows, and an open concept living space it’s hard to feel confined.

Once you pass over the entry threshold you are invited into the living space that includes a wood burning fireplace (wood is provided). Bring your own logins to stream your favorite movies and TV shows, a Roku TV is available for guests to use. Just beyond the living room is the dining table and kitchen. All open to one another so guests can feel connected no matter if they are reading a book next to the fireplace, having a bite to eat at the dining table, or preparing a cup of coffee in the kitchen. The owners are cooks themselves so the kitchen is appropriately stocked with high quality cookware and knives. Continuing down the hall there is a full bathroom, a laundry room with a washer, drier, and utility sink, and at the end of the hall you’ll find two bedrooms outfitted with queen beds and plenty of closet space. Upstairs is a one-of-a-kind loft with plenty of space to spread out. There are two built in twin beds and a long window bench for relaxing and playing games. Don’t forget the outdoors! The porch is as long as the house and here you’ll find yet another place to cook and dine. The porch is outfitted with a gas grill and an extra-long dining table as to accommodate all the food to be shared amongst family and friends. As mandatory with any cabin there is a fire pit on the property (wood is provided) and if you have little ones (but not limited to kids) there is a tree house for extra fun times. And, if you dare, we have a functioning outhouse, clean and ready for your enjoyment!

1. We are baby and kid friendly with a Pack ‘n Play as well as a high chair and some utensils for tiny ones.
2. Consider bringing some cozy slippers because we ask that you not wear your outdoor shoes inside.
3. We apologies if this next rule prohibits you from enjoying our cabin but pets are not allowed.
4. No events or large gatherings
5. We have Starlink, satellite internet but understand it’s not as fast as some are used to.
6. Be aware: being in the woods can limits cellphone service.
7. Two-wheel drive vehicles are capable of making the trip, but be aware the last half a mile to reach the cabin is on a gravel road. All-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for the winter months.
8. During winter the only ways to heat the house is with electric radiators or wood stove (wood is provided).
9. The cabin is in a heavily forested area power outages are a possibility.
10. There are actively recording cameras monitoring the exterior of the property. This includes the front entrance, the deck, the side yard, and the back yard.

Magical misty escape

The owners have done a truly lovely job with this location. I was here with two other friends for a writing retreat, and we all were enchanted. Comfortable rooms and beds, thoughtful choices around every corner. And the location really makes you feel like you are in your own corner of the rainforest. Our only regret is going during the summer burn ban - we are all considering returning in a cooler month to take advantage of the magical firepit.

Perfect Home Base for Exploring the Pacific Northwest

We recently spent 17 nights at the Lazy Bear Cabin, and it was truly the perfect home base for our family's adventures in the Pacific Northwest. From the Hood Canal to Olympic National Park and Mt. Rainier, we explored it all—and every day ended with the comfort of returning to this peaceful retreat. The cabin was incredibly well-equipped and stocked, making our stay effortless. The owners went above and beyond, even setting up a portable air conditioning unit to ensure our comfort on warm summer days. Inside, the cabin was stunning and inviting, with everything we needed at our fingertips. Our little girls loved every moment spent on the property, from playing on the swing to exploring the treehouse and tiny creek. The outdoor space was a dream for them, and it was a joy to watch them enjoy the simple pleasures of nature. After long days of hiking and sightseeing, it was such a relief to know we were coming back to a tranquil, comfortable place. The Lazy Bear Cabin provided everything we could have asked for and more. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, well-appointed home away from home while exploring this beautiful region.

Hidden Gem

This cabin is the perfect secret getaway. If there weren't endless opportunities to explore on the Olympic peninsula, one could laze about inside the cozy cabin the entire stay. The forest surrounding the cabin is simply breathtaking. This place felt like home. Loved every second of our stay.

Cozy getaway

Really nice cozy getaway for a few days. Could easily fit 2 couples or a larger family. No issues with internet even with surprise snow in February or any power issues. Place heats up fast with a small fire which I recommend! Comfortable environment, enjoyed the lack of clutter and the clean and simple, modern setup.

Great Stay

My family of 6 spent Christmas in this lovely cabin. Casey allowed for us to check in early and the home was perfect! Extremely clean, kitchen stocked, lots and lots of coffee. Comfortable beds and sheets. This was a perfect trip and a great property.

Care and Quiet

My family and I had a wonderful time at the cabin. Check in was simple and the cabin itself was very clean and tidy. You can tell extra care has been taken not only to care for the cabin, but for guests to enjoy their stay. There was a detailed welcome binder, a lot of firewood, toys for our kiddo, games for the adults, very fluffy pillows, extra blankets and so much more. There is also plenty of natural beauty and quiet. All of this care combined with the quiet seclusion made it very hard to leave. Check out was also made easy. We appreciated the clear and friendly communication from the hosts. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect place

Really great place to unwind and relax for the long weekend. Kitchen was well equipped. Fireplace was enough to keep the entire cabin warm, and the big windows were perfect for watching the eagles during the day. The host thought about everything so you feel really taken care of. And it’s really clean. Would recommend to any family.

Hood Canal

Very comfy and newer cabin. Location allowed for equal drives to Port Angeles or the rain forest. Amenities and appliances were great. The information binder was helpful. Try to arrive in the daytime. Way finding is a challenge the first time in the dark. The gravel lane off the main road could use some TLC, pretty rough. Overall, we were very happy with the property and management. We would highly recommend it to others.

Book it now

What a beautiful home and amazing views. Not only was Casey super easy and wonderful to communicate with, she communicated quickly and was so helpful. The rental has everything you need and more, will definitely book again when we’re in the area. One of my favorite parts is the sweet sunrise in the morning, while sipping coffee on the porch. They provided many different kinds of Kcup flavors, so no worries if you forgot to pack coffee. Book it, you won’t regret it!!

Charming Getaway: A Cozy Retreat with a Welcoming Ambiance

Nice and cozy place, with a pleasant ambiance that adds to the overall experience. Everything was good and nicely presented. A big thank you and +1 star for allowing us to check in earlier, as the property was ready. This gave us the opportunity to spend a little more time there. We encountered an unusual thing during the checkout process, something we experienced for the first time: At checkout, we were asked to strip the beds and wash & dry the towels.

Highly Recommended

I had a great weekend at the cabin in the woods. Casey was a great host and communicated well. The directions and map to the cabin were very helpful, I was able to find the gravel road that took me to the cabin. The cabin's interior was nicely decorated, it felt very warm and cozy inside. The kitchen had all the necessities for my stay. The wood burning stove kept the cabin very warm, I was surprised. There was plenty of firewood provided.
