About this property

Romantic Getaway - on the East side. Perfect location, access to everything!

OCEAN FRONT, one bedroom unit which has been redecorated top to bottom. We chose the total traditional island style with rattan and bamboo...from the furniture to the bamboo drapes, which give the whole place a warm, fresh feeling. We used sand style tile to hide the "beach" sand and dirt. :-)
The new granite counter is called solaris and is a beautiful, sunny gold and browns. This kitchen has been renovated with all new stainless appliances. It is a beautiful gourmet kitchen, where you can prepare a wonderful meal with the view and sound of the ocean as your backdrop. The entire unit has been painted top to bottom...it is also fresh and clean feeling. The old bathtub was removed and replaced with a wonderful rain-shower head and beautiful tile with glossy highlights. The colors simulate the ocean and it is just a great new bathroom - top to bottom. We have put quiet rock throughout on the ceilings and some common walls such as the bathroom and bedroom. We also built a wains-coating wall in the bedroom to also mitigated the sound from the adjoining unit! The curtains in the bedroom are good for total black-out and sound from the path outside. We hope you enjoy all of the upgrades we have incorporated into this ocean-side unit.

The Pono Kai Resort enjoys a fantastic location along the eastern coastline of Kauai, known as the coconut coast, because of the large palm trees that line the coast. From this central location on the island, visitors can easily explore Princeville to the north, Poipu to the south, and other hikes and trails on the island in a timely fashion.

Visitors staying at the Pono Kai Resort will enjoy an assortment of onsite activities such as the onsite pool and hot tub, lighted tennis courts and croquet lawn, shuffleboard, putting green, work-out room, BBQ facilities, and activity desk for booking on-island adventures. Our favorite amenity is easy to access the beachfront paved walking/bike trail that fronts the property and coastline. Explore the scenic trail for miles in each direction.
To enjoy the beautiful sounds and feel the ocean breezes. THIS CONDO DOES HAVE CENTRAL AC. There is a portable unit for the small bedroom, and large ceiling fans and ocean breezes.

We provide everything you need for a day at the beach or hiking, plus we provide new bicycles. You can watch the sun come up from the Lanai...which is a breathtaking experience on the beautiful garden island of Kauai!

Perfect Condo in the Perfect Location

We loved this condo so much! I came with my Mom for our annual mother-daughter trip. The ocean front, walkout lower level was exactly what we wanted.The condo itself was exactly as described and pictured. It actually felt like you were staying at a friend’s house instead of a rental. The owners even left bikes to use although we didn’t because it rained almost constantly while we were there. The complex was very nicely manicured and the staff were constantly cleaning. Check out time is 10am and our flight was at 10pm, the complex has a hospitality room available where you can store your luggage and take a shower before heading to the airport. It was an unexpected and very useful amenity! The town of Kapaa has a lot of dining options and shops that are easy walking distance, it was nice not having to drive everywhere. We loved everything about this condo and would definitely come back!

Anniversary Celebration

This condo was a perfect little place to stay. The pictures are exactly as it looks. Welcoming bottle of wine and a note from the owner. View was amazing. The condo was well supplied with everything needed even waters in the refrigerator which was a pleasant surprise after a very long day of travel. The bed was very comfortable, we normally sleep in a king however it didn’t bother us at all sleeping in the queen. AC works great, fans work great. There is nothing the owners haven’t thought of when preparing for their guests. Highly recommend.

Pono Kai Kauai Vacation

The room was great. Everything was incredibly clean and as the pictures showed. The hosts left a bottle of wine and a note to welcome us. The location is a great place to get to anywhere onthe island easily, and the town of Kapaa has a multitude of places to eat and enjoy yourself in walking distance. Thank you for sharing your small slice of paradise in Kauai.

First visit to Kauai

Checked all the boxes for our first trip to Kauai. Location was convenient to visits to all areas of the island. Loved the proximity to the bike path. Wish there was a luggage cart at the building. I saw some at the main checkin area but it’s somewhat inconvenient given the location of the unit. Otherwise, everything we needed was in the unit and more. Highly recommend!

Bi yearly girls' trip

If you want to stay at the Pono Kai in Kauai and there are only 2 of you, this is the place to stay. You have a direct, unobstructed view of the ocean. The sunrise every morning is an experience worth getting up for. The unit has every necessity needed for a vacation rental, which was nice: no need to rent beach chairs, an umbrella or a drink cooler. The unit provided those items. All in all, I rate this unit with a 5🌟

Perfect place on Kauai

My husband and I wanted to stay in Kapaa due to its central location. The condo was nicely updated and had everything we needed plus more. Great oceanfront location! Enjoyed the sunrises, ocean breezes and sounds of the waves. BBQ area was perfect. Condo was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We will stay here again!

Amazing Condo, Price and People.

Rented this condo 6 nights for our honeymoon in February, we were greeted with leis and champagne in a clean/updated condo. It was more than we could ask for with the price we paid. Owners were very nice and communication was excellent through the process and during our stay. Kauai is beautiful and this relaxing little condo on the beach helped contribute to our perfect honeymoon. Would definitely stay here again, highly recommended.

Best vacation rental

This is the second time we stayed at this rental. It just gets better and better.Used the bikes this time to ride the 10 mile walking path along the coast. Breath taking views. The kitchen is well stocked with every tool you could need. The unit was spotless and everything in good repair. Being so close to the ocean is the best. Also love funky town Kapaa. Many good restaurants and Pono Market (where the locals go) has authenic delicious Hawaiiian food. Location Half way between Princeville and Poipu is ideal.

Great view

Property was extremely clean and well stocked. Beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards and bikes too. Everything you need for a relaxing week. Lots of traffic in Kaapa but fortunately drivers are very willing to stop and let you in or allow you to make your turn. We will be returning.

Perfect Condo

We enjoyed the condo tremendously. Lena provided a binder with helpful hints and maps and things to do. From the living room to bathroom to bedroom to kitchen, it had all we needed and more than we could have asked for. The pictures do not do it justice. The views we had were amazing!! We watched the sun come up every morning from the patio, and sat outside a lot to listen to the water, and it takes less than 1 minute to be at the edge of the water. We will absolutely stay here again. Mahalo!

Très bel unité et très confortable. La disponibilité d'équipement de plage était très apprécié. Ce n'est pas évident d'arriver le soir comme on l'a fait, il serait bon de mettre des instructions plus précises (ex. c'est la première bâtisse si on tourne à droite après avoir passé la barrière de sécurité). A noter qu'il faut pratiquement prendre la voiture pour tous les déplacements à cause de la chaleur. L'épicerie très pratique au Queens' Marketplace et la plage sont à moins de 5 minutes en auto mais marcher serait plus comme 15-20 minutes, la majorité du temps en plein soleil.

What a view!!!

The condo at Pono Kai is exactly what we needed for a trip to Kauai. The location in Kapa’a is central to everything on the island. The condo is well appointed, clean and comfortable. We were greeted with a lovely note from the owners. The complex is great - a pool, hot tub and all the amenities you could want. Walking distance to most things you would need. 20 minutes from the Lihue airport. I highly recommend staying here and plan to stay here again. The view of the ocean is worth he price of admission. Beautiful Fully-equipped Luxury Condo with Outdoor Toys

This was an immaculate high end stay for us, beautifully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen (even including minutiae like covered casserole dishes and a nutri-bullet) We cooked most meals here and used the boogie boards, snorkeling gear, sand chairs and the new Schwin bikes. The patio on the ground floor (JUST like the picture showed!) is mere yards from the bike path and overlooks the eastern morning sunrise. Convenient parking. LOVED this beautiful Condo!!! And our hostess Lena was great/responsive. Thanks Lena!!

Location location location!

Location is key! Centrally located between north and south Kauai. Beautiful ocean views from the room, nearly private beach with all amenities provided. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay on Kauai.

Amazing Ocean Front Unit

This condo was perfect! The view is a sunrise view but I never tire of hearing and seeing the ocean. Location was within walking distance to shopping, food and drinks. The unit has been remodeled with very classy and comfortable vibe. This unit is truly a home away from home. The resort has so many free activities available. The unit has two bike to use, which we did on the paved path in front of the resort. I have nothing negative to say about my stay in this unit. Sandy

Great Ocean view/front property

The condo was very clean and bright. The location is as close to the ocean as possible. View from the lanai was great. The sound of the ocean was very soothing. There were good quality cooking equipment and supplies. There were two bicycles available, but we did not ride. We will stay again when we return to kauai.

We are long time skiers from Steamboat Springs, who are now snow-birds! We spend our winters on Kauai golfing, hiking, biking, boogie boarding and exploring all the adventures this beautiful Garden Island of Kauai has to offer.

Why they chose this property

This is a beautiful newly renovated condo which is ocean front property, located in the wonderful little beach town of Kapa'a. We love this little beach town, which is walking distance from the condo; with several beaches large and small also within walking/biking distance.

What makes this property unique

There is a 7 mile multi-use path in front of the condo which runs along the edge of the ocean. It is so great to be able to just head right out biking. There is a concierge on-site who can help you with any bucket list items you may have: whale watch, Luau, tubing the ditch in a former plantation and any other ideas you may have.
