Being on the Red Cedar River and hear the sound of the water was fantastic! However getting up and down the stairs to river side deck was challenging. Plan to stay again! Awesome weeks stay.
My friend and I stayed for a mom’s getaway, and it was perfect. Beautiful space, lovely views of the river, I could bring my dog. It was so peaceful. I would definitely stay again.
Property sits in the trees along the Red Cedar River. Host is easy to work with. She brings items to make your stay better. Plenty of deer in the evening.
We appreciated the lovely view of the river and the cozy accommodations as we were in town celebrating our daughter's graduation from UW-STOUT. It was only a 15-minute drive from campus and worked out well. Thank you, Trudy for making this a seamless process and opening up your special place to us. Waking up to the sound of orioles singing in the back yard was a treat :)

I didn't realize I was renting someone's basement. My fault, something I know when look in the future.
Beautiful property on the maple-tree-shaded bank of the Red Cedar River just above a set of gentle rapids. The property has the dual benefit of being quiet and somewhat secluded, and yet it's just a short five-minute drive into Menomonie. We had wonderful sleep here.
Our dog loved the property, and a small fenced-in yard just outside our door made it very dog friendly. The rental was well equipped and the arrival instructions and directions were thorough and super helpful. We highly recommend this property!
This site is the lower level of a private home. It has very few kitchen items: hot plate not a stove, very little counter space. You will hear the owner moving about upstairs.
Worst of all, is the owner thinks nothing of entering the rental area when you are gone. The entry is quite a distance over unpaved ground, part of which is not illuminated at night, unsafe if it has snowed or after heavy
rain. Listing was for a 2 bedroom site but only one was available when we arrived. We had to request the owner

Did not realize when looking at photos that this property is a walk out basement with owner living above. With that said, it was private and quiet place to stay. Everything was acceptable and comfortable but cooking our meals was limited to a hot plate and microwave. The only negative comment is the access to the rental was not senior convenient to carry suitcases and walk on sloped ground. It was a good thing our grandson was there to carry them up to our car. Also the walk down to the river was also not doable for seniors. Great place for younger people.
A very homey, peaceful place! Though in a lower level, it didn’t feel like a “basement” with its many windows and pretty view. I enjoyed the patio table with view of the river in the morning! There were many steps down to the river, but the dockside chairs and rippling waters made it worth it! Pleasant decor, comfy bed and reclining sectional couch. Gas fireplace was nice for evening reading and relaxing. Host was thorough, prompt, and kind with communication. It was very nice for some quiet alone time in a beautiful place. Thanks Trudy!!
This was a very nice place.
The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable even though it is on the firm side. Plenty of nice soft towels.
Very quiet. Occasionally I could hear walking upstairs, but not in the bedroom. A lovely country setting, but no noisy animals.
Big plus: a bathmat to prevent slipping! I usually have to bring my own.
Lovely small deck right by the river with comfy chairs and a fire ring. We saw an eagle fishing in the river!
The hosts are very helpful, and their driving directions are spot on.
Tips - The refrigerator is like a dorm-size frig and is quiet. Bring your own wash cloths for the bathroom. Nice shampoo provided.
Minor suggestions: blackout shades would be nice in the summer to encourage sleeping in
It would be nice to have a broom available to sweep the chairs and deck down by the river (which had been recently cleaned, but the trees drop stuff constantly).
