The Pono Kai Resort enjoys a fantastic location along the eastern coastline of Kauai, known as the coconut coast, because of the large palm trees that line the coast. From this central location on the island, visitors can easily explore Princeville to the north, Poipu to the south, and other hikes and trails on the island in a timely fashion.

Visitors staying at the Pono Kai Resort will enjoy an assortment of onsite activities such as the onsite pool and hot tub, lighted tennis courts and croquet lawn, shuffleboard, putting green, work-out room, BBQ facilities, and activity desk for booking on-island adventures. Our favorite amenity is easy to access the beachfront paved walking/bike trail that fronts the property and coastline. Explore the scenic trail for miles in each direction.

This place was spectacular. I would give it 10 out of tens. Everything we needed was there. It was beautiful and a close proximity to pretty much everything we needed. I would highly recommend this condo to all who want to visit Kapa'a

Excellent property

This property was very lovely. It was the most stocked condo we have ever rented. It was very clean and spacious. Walking distance to shops and some dining. The only issue we had was maintenance wasn't very helpful. The lights lights were out on the Lanai , so we weren't able to utilize it at night. We like to sit on the Lanai & eat dinner, play cards, etc and we couldn't do that due to no lighting. They had electric candles, but that was not effective for us. We reported the issue several times a day & it took until the last day to get addressed, which was disappointing.

It was a perfect place for our family to spend time together. The view out the patio was amazing. The morning sunrises were breathtaking to watch from the unit.

Second Time Even Better

This was our 2nd time staying in this condo and it was even better than the first. It is within walking distance of lots of food options and centrally located for trips to either side of Kauai. The condo is a delight and well appointed and didn't want for anything.

Eastside Paradise

We loved our stay here. The views from the lanai are stunning! Loved having the walking trail along the beach. Great location to reach all parts of the island. The airplane tour we did was amazing. Highly recommend doing that. Nice to have downtown Kapaa so close by. Plenty of stores & restaurants to walk to. We can't wait for our next visit here!

Very comfortable, supplied with all you need and more, like bicycles. Easy parking. Lovely to be so close to the sea and see the sunrise every morning from our lanai. Nice to be able to walk to shops and restaurants. Lena and Ivan are very friendly and quick to respond to questions, and eager to help you enjoy your stay on the island.

We have visited Kauai 4 times, staying at Princeville on the north shore, Kekaha on the south shore, and at Kapaa where this unit is located. The unit was a great location both itself - 1st floor, facing the ocean - and in terms of getting easily around the island to Weimea Canyon, botanical gardens, and elsewhere. The unit was very quiet, with an excellent master bedroom, bath and rain shower. Communication with the owners was easy. There is a great paved walking path just out the door that runs along the ocean for several miles, and we enjoyed it twice daily. No complaints and we would happily visit this unit again.

This is one of our best vacations ever. We absolutely love the location, the unit, and everything about this beautiful island. 2nd Floor Noise

Our neighbors above us had a toddler who ran around the unit constantly and because the sound insulation is so poor it really became an aggravation. Our last night was outrageous….the running started at 4AM and only let up when I banged on the ceiling. These units are a problem unless you stay on the 3rd floor. Because we don’t do stairs we will not return to this listing.

Truly a Zen Retreat!

Perfect location! Walking distance to restaurants to and shopping. Easy to get to any part of the island. The condo was a perfect size for our two couples. We loved cooking in the kitchen and using the resort grills. The sun and moon rises were spectacular! Dinner and cards on the lanai almost every night! It was a perfect vacation.

Fantastic View

My fiancé and I came to Hawaii for our wedding. The sun rises in the morning were breathtaking from the lanai. The pictures do not do it justice when it says it is right on the beach. The condo had everything you could possibly want or need for a great stay in Hawaii. The location is centralized for convenience of traveling north or south on the island. It is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. The only complaint I have is that the bed in the master bedroom is not very comfortable. We ended up purchasing a memory foam mattress topper while we were there to help provide some comfort. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would definitely come back.

This unit was the best unit I have ever stayed in when vacationing. The cleanliness was exceptional, location was perfect to see all of Kauai. It was so amazing to open the sliding door and see/ hear the ocean. This condo is well worth renting. The owners were amazing and were there to help with any questions I had. Lena & Ivan live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where we enjoy skiing, biking, fishing and all the wonderful out-of-doors activities Colorado has to offer. We love our Kauai get away, as the winters are very long and cold in Steamboat - so we are now officially "Snowbirds". Kauai is our winter home; we first came in 2019 and loved it right away. We love outside activities and Kauai has tons to offer.

Why they chose this property

Why Kapaa Town? The first time we went to Kauai, we stayed in Kapaa, a little beach town on the East side of Kauai. It was perfect. It is centrally located, so you can head any direction, and get there quickly. It has lots of shopping, wonderful restaurants, and it is perfectly quaint.

What makes this property unique

Pono Kai has so much to offer. With a pool, hot tub, tennis courts, boche, croquet putting greens. We love the walking trail right out our Lanai door. And don't forget about the beach and ocean that you can hear and see from the Lanai. It doesn't get any better than that.
