Enjoy astonishing sound sunset and sunrise views from the furnished deck of this relaxing cozy cottage located on the point in Brigands Bay, Frisco, NC on Hatteras Island, Outerbanks, aka, OBX.

Leave plenty of time to do nothing at all. Sit on the private deck and look out over Pamlico Sound where you'll watch windsurfers and kiteboarders sail across the water. Out on our deck towards evening time, watch the mackerel jump or drop a kayak in the water for a sunset paddle. Just relaxing is 'island time' well spent.

Outerbanks is known for some of the best windsurfing, kiteboarding and fishing on the whole East Coast and this can all be done from the backyard of this cottage.
Plenty of room for rigging your gear, enclosed outdoor shower and BBQ grill are all here in our backyard.

Just north 10 minutes on NC12 is Canadian Hole also known as Kitepoint, which is where wind surfers from Canada have flocked to since the 1980s. This sweet spot now attracts kiteboarders as well.
The warm, shallow water of the Pamlico Sound, combined with the steady warm Gulf Stream and Outer Banks winds create unparalleled conditions for wind surfing and kite boarding.

Just south 5 minutes are the beaches of Frisco. Free parking and don’t forget the cool beverages and sunscreen. Rest a beach chair at the edge of the surf and do nothing.

Our Cozy Cottage has 3 bedrooms including 1 bunk room, 2 single beds, and 1 full size bed.

Modern kitchen with all amenities. Flat top electric stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer on the main level for convenient use.

The living room has 2 glass sliders for access to the decks and great views. Also there is a Flat Screen TV and High Speed Internet for those occasional rainy days or catch-up with emails, etc...
Many new amenities and updates to make you feel right at home and enjoy your vacation.

As owners, we keep the place nice because we stay here too.
We want you to feel right at home in our vacation home.

Some things you may consider doing while staying in the Outer Banks - visit a fish market for freshly caught local fish, kayaking in the sound, charter fishing, birding or lighthouse tours, take an art class, visit the local potteries for hand made wares, set sail on a romantic sunset cruise, take a ferry ride to Ocracoke, a quaint fishing village and artist colony...

Fishing is popular along the entire stretch of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, as both ocean and sound fishing are available. Watch the local fishermen motor out the channel to the sound each day to bring in their catch.
Just across Hwy 12 is a fresh fish market and there are also plenty of fine restaurants, coffee houses and bakeries in the area.

Other popular activities include, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, boating, biking, photography, snorkeling/scuba diving, swimming, sailing, hiking and bird watching. Nature trails are nearby too some of which are in Buxton Woods.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore is a birders paradise, with over 400 different species of birds sighted. Located along the Eastern Flyway, its varied habitats and strong winds and storms force the exhausted birds to rest. The greatest variety of species occurs during the spring and fall migration.

Everything we hoped for!
Absolutely loved our stay here! The views are amazing and the house is super cozy. Our favorite part was kayaking or watching the sunset on the water from the deck. The owner was very nice and accommodating, even in the weeks and months leading up to vacation. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place to go!

Amazing view of the Pamlico Sound!
Great place to stay for small family. House could use a bit of updating and is pretty small but the view more than makes up for it.

LOVED the Cozy Cottage!!
Hi review readers! We just stayed the week of Aug 20-27th. We had a group of 3 men, myself, a baby and 1 dog. The house was so sweet, well stocked with everything you could need. For a pet friendly place, it was nice to NOT be smacked in the face with an animal urine smell when you walk in. The view was incredible! The deck was a perfect spot for eating dinner, drinking morning coffee and adult drinks when the kiddo went to bed. I gave this place 4 stars and Id like to say why; this cozy cottage is...well....cozy! Its about 500-600 sq ft. The price is very affordable and inviting, however do not try to bring a large group here. The kitchen is small, the only bathroom is VERY small and the bedrooms are also very small. The largest bedroom has a full size bed, the other bedroom has two twin beds and the bunk bed room is made for little kids, that room was probably a closet/pantry or utility room at one point. Make no mistake about my review though, we loved the house, amenities, views, and the constant communication between myself and the owners (they were so awesome to work with) Id say if you have a smaller family and your going to be outside anyways, this place is perfect, and has everything you need for an enjoyable vacation! Thanks again, Jim we will surely consider staying at the cozy cottage again in the future!

Beautiful location!
Upon arrival to the cozy cottage, we were ecstatic to finally see the beautiful sights in person! The pictures and description of the cottage is spot on. We spent the first evening swimming in the sound that just so happens to be in the backyard! I thoroughly enjoyed watching my boys swim, crab, fish, and kayak while sipping on a cold drink from the comfort of the large wrap around deck. My extended family rented another house a short distance from this cottage and I was able to kayak right around the point for a visit. We spent most of our days driving out on the beach next to the airport in Frisco. You pay $50 for the week to get a 10 day pass for 4 wheel vehicles, located at cape hatteras lighthouse. Shelly Island was fun to visit...make sure you wait till low tide and you can walk across without much trouble. We found many beautiful shells and our black lab loved the swim across to the island. We collected so many shells, we decided to leave them behind for future visitors to enjoy at the Cozy Cottage. The boys placed the shells around the downstairs showers, which we used daily after our long days at the beach. It was so great to come home in the afternoon to then play in the sound. One cloudy day we even walked across to the other side and the water never went above our chests. We made our dinners here most nights and the outside grill was perfect for burgers and dogs. Fully stocked kitchen was appreciated and we enjoyed the beautiful artwork! Orange blossom is a favorite of ours so make sure you stop in to get an apple ugly for breakfast. Scotch bonnet has some delicious fudge you can take with you before you leave town. Bob's bait and tackle is where you can get your fishing license and the ladies were very knowledgeable. We picked up some seafood for dinner at Buxton Seafood only a short distance from the cottage. After spending every summer in the outer banks and Hatteras since I was a child, this by far is one of our favorite cottages simply put for the location and beautiful views. We spent our last day on the beach out on the point and the people who were our "neighbors" were so friendly and kind! It's a shame we only get to do this once a year...many thanks to Jim and Mary who were very helpful with answering my questions and easy to work with. Our family of 4 with our sweet pup thoroughly enjoyed this cottage and I know why it stays booked. Thank you again for everything and we look forward to coming back for many years to come!!!!

COZY COTTAGE – LOCATION – LOCATION – LOCATION
“Cozy Cottage” perfect name for a perfect cottage and very affordable for our family. The beach theme décor fits the cottage perfectly, was totally amazed at the great art work adorning the walls and actually painted by Mary, the owner. The location of the cottage has a “Million Dollar View” of the Pamlico sound. We sat on the deck and watched the kiteboarders leisurely travel up and down the sound. We even ventured out in the Kayaks provided by the owners (to have to rent them would have been above our budget) so we were grateful that they were there for our use. The bedrooms were perfect for our family, our two youngest were thrilled to find one bedroom had bunk beds. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots, pans and dishes to make and enjoy my fabulous family comfort dishes. There were two brand new outdoor showers that were put to good use, the kids loved the outdoor showers so much they asked their dad to build one at home (maybe that’s not such a bad idea :>) Jim and Mary the owners were wonderful to work with, they were very helpful with some suggestions with our day trip sightseeing plans. We went to the Indian Museum right there in Frisco, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton and the Wright Brothers Museum in Kitty Hawk. So much to see on the Island, we are already making plans to return to the “Cozy Cottage” for 2018. When we go back we plan on taking a day trip on the ferry to Ocracoke another suggestion of Mary’s that we did not have time for on this trip. Thank you again Jim and Mary for opening up your adorable beach house, our family is still talking about it. We took so many pictures and made great memories on this family vacation, we all agree it was the best family vacation ever and we will be back next year.

First Impressions Clouded our Stay
After traveling all day, we arrived at the cottage around 5:30pm, ready to get dinner cooking and enjoy the sunset on the deck. However, we noticed dirty dishes in the sink and luggage in the bedrooms and realized the cottage was occupied by other guests. We checked our booking info to make sure we had the right dates and then started calling all the phone numbers we had for the owners. We found three different numbers and called and left messages on all three. We didn't feel like we could bring luggage in or unpack or start dinner because we didn't know if we would actually be staying at the cottage that night. The owners called us back and told us that they were actually staying in the cottage and that they'd be back in 30 minutes to get their stuff and clean up. At that point it was 6:30pm and I didn't feel comfortable starting dinner in an unfamiliar kitchen with the owners coming in to gather their things and clean up. My 4 kids were also very hungry. We decided we just needed to go out to eat. We were on a budget and had brought all of our own food in coolers and hadn't planned on the expense, but didn't feel like there was any other choice at that point. We left a note asking for them to text us when they were done. We ate dinner and then hung out at the restaurant until they texted--I think it was around 8pm, but I am not positive. On our return, we expected a note with an apology and some sort of discount off the price of that days stay for our trouble. Instead, we got an apology and a reminder to empty the dishwasher of the dishes they had used during their stay. It did not sit well. Overall, we had fun at the cottage. It was great to be right on the sound and have access to the kayaks. We enjoyed the beautiful sunrises on the deck. The home was cute and nicely decorated. However, I was a little surprised by the size. I paced it off and it's approx. 675 sq. ft.--so just be aware it's a tight fit for six. The third bedroom is more like a closet (notice the picture is taken thru the window) and the built-in bunk bed does not have a railing. We thought our 9 year old daughter could handle it, but she fell out of the top bunk the 2nd night (the beds are more narrow than a standard twin--the mattress is a thick piece of foam) and so she ended up sleeping on the couch (which looked new and was very comfortable). There was also a distinct odor to the cottage that I think was coming from the fridge.

Amazing!
Jim and Mary, Hi, on behalf of myself and family, I wanted to send you a heartfelt thank you for making your rental available for us last week. We had a wonderful time making memories together on our first journey to the outer banks. Your cottage is lovely and the location was amazing with the water views. We so enjoyed watching the martins and the antics of the loon in the canal. Thank you for being part of what we will be sure to look back on very fondly in the years to come as we remember the relaxing time we had there together as we explored the outdoors and enjoyed all of the natural beauty we could absorb while we were in the area. Warm regards

The Cozy Cottage is a little piece of heaven
We enjoyed our stay so much, thank you! little piece of heaven there. We thought your house is absolutely perfect. Cozy, relaxed and just has great flow. We watched the storm come through and get pushed off shore...really awesome. We played and did yoga on the decks, paddled around in the kayaks, listened to the cool old radio. Love the outside shower. Actually ended up having good weather most of our stay and swam in the ocean everyday. The paintings by Mary are beautiful! Tropical storm Bonnie was here with us and we had some rain. About an hour after the sun came out, we left for Frisco beach and didn't have too much trouble. We would love to come back, I'll keep in touch. Thanks again, Kelley

Perfect !
We stayed one week at the cottage at the end of March with our 3 children. It was great. The cottage is well equipped with all the kitchen accessories you need (we cooked almost all our meals there). It is clean and all the appliances work great including the heating which we appreciated being so early in the season. It sleeps 6 although you need to know that the top bunk has no railing but a kid can easily sleep on the couch in the living room. The cottage is on the water in the sound which is wonderful. The kids kayaked and also walked to the island across and to the sand bar a few hundred yards out they loved it (we rented full wet suits at Wind NC since the water was still pretty cold). My husband and my daughter took windsurfing lessons with Wind NC and they came to the cottage with the rigs and they gave the lessons right there !! What more can you wish for ? We also went for horseback riding at the Buxton stables a couple of miles up the road and highly recommend them. Further down we went to Frisco Bait and tackle and they had great advice and they helped my son rig his rod... And it worked we had puffer fish for dinner ! Otherwise the Buxton fish market is also nice we got fresh catch and shrimp from them. We loved the place and the area and hope to be back soon.

What a magnificent view!
Our time at the Cozy Cottage was a restful and much needed vacation. The view from the back deck is absolutely breathtaking and changes with the light of the day. The view at night is of a sky full of stars! The use of the kayaks was a tremendous benefit. My boyfriend loved going out to fish in the sound. The kitchen in the cottage is stocked with everything you can imagine, even a coffee grinder! Loved our stay at Cozy Cottage and we'll be back again next year!

Great vacation
It's been a great week at the outer banks. The description of the cottage was accurate, very clean and everything we needed to prepare meals. Bedrooms are small but adequate. (Who comes to the beach to sleep anyway??) Quiet and relaxing, writing this review while sitting on the deck. Awesome sunsets. Already planning our next trip. Check out Harbor House Seafood in Hatteras for local fish to cook at home. Scotch Bonnett for yummy fudge. Also, beach access is about 5 minutes away, with restrooms, always a plus. Owners are a pleasure to work with respond quickly to emails. Until next time .....

Great way to relax on spring break
The week I spent at the cozy cottage was relaxing, sunny and beautiful. The view from the deck at sunset was panoramic and wonderful and area around the house was so dark, the star watching was so spectacular that you could see the milky way. The house was cozy and very comfortable, with a kitchen stocked with all the cooking gadgets one could imagine. The beds were comfortable, the space was clean and airy and being right on the sound, my boyfriend wind surfed right from the backyard. The outdoor hot shower and kyacks were terrific perks. We will definitely come back!

Great Anniversary!
This property was exactly as described! I cant imagine finding a more perfect place to stay. There were just 2 of us, but beds for 6. Cooking was a breeze with all the items provided, so much so that we only ate out once. Although it was a bit early in the season, we found that everything we wanted to do was available. We took the kayak on a tour of the sound, and my husband dumped me...much to our neighbors delight! He offered to call the Coast Guard for us, but we managed. (The water was about 2 ft deep) Kiteboarders could be seen out almost every window. We plan on returning next year, and bringing my parents along for some much needed R&R. Thanks for sharing your home with us! You helped me an awesome 1st Anniversary!

COZY COTTAGE IS OUR FAVORITE PLACE IN FRISCO
We really enjoyed sitting on the spacious deck watching the gorgeous sunsets and the purple marlins checking out their nightly accommodations in the cute bird house set out for them to enjoy. As our plan was to cook in each night we were happy to find the kitchen was well equipped and the mattresses were very comfortable. The upgraded heating/air conditioning system was enjoyed as the nights were a little cool this time of year. This was our third year staying in Frisco at this cute ‘Cozy Cottage’, we also enjoyed the heavy wood swing in the yard. Kayaks with life vests provided by the owners were used for a fun day on the water, we also enjoyed our nightly bike rides around the area. The washer/dryer are conveniently placed as is the TV. We had a pleasurable tour of the Indian Museum and the Hatteras Light House. The owners are very friendly and we look forward to spending another week at the ‘Cozy Cottage’ in 2014.

VERY Cozy cottage!
We just spent a windy week in your darling cottage and I can attest to the fact that it is cozy! We were very warm, had a great time and everything was top notch. The internet was great, cell phone reception is great, tv is great and the kitchen lacks for nothing. It was too windy to enjoy the kayaks but they're there, under the house. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with lots of jumping off points into the sound for all kinds of water sports. We watched wind surfers right outside our door every day. The cottage feels like family and we appreciate you sharing it with strangers. Thanks for everything!

A Quiet & Relaxing Vacation Spot
We really enjoyed our stay at Cozy Cottage. Sitting out on the deck, the views are wonderful and the ever changing light over the sound is a visual delight. Speaking of sitting out on the deck - almost a bug free experience, thanks to the colony of Puple Martins living in the houses on the pole. We are big fans of outdoor showers - that was a real bonus. Your cottage has the best equipped kitchen on the OBX. Also, having a kayak available was great.

excellent experience beautiful area
I couldn't say anything bad about this experience. The home was beautiful, the view was beautiful the area was beautiful and anything you could hope to want stocked in the home was there (not to mention an immensely stocked kitchen). The area is extremely peaceful. You can tell many people retire in this area, along with a few other homes which are used to be rented out as vacation homes. Everyone in the community area is respectful of each other and we found our favorite thing to be sitting out on the porch enjoying the sun, view, and the peacefulness away from our crazy city lives. Another favorite amenity was the wonderful heated outdoor shower. Amazing. These people thought of everything from kayaks to beach chairs to DVD's to chilled beer mugs. Everything was clean and tidy as described. We did not want to leave. The owner was extremely accommodating and understanding with our initial hesitation to it being a scam because the price seemed to good to be true and the deal was found online. They provided full information to prove the opportunity was legitimate and were patient with our research. It is evident the owners put a lot of pride and care into this home and in renting it out to those fortunate to have the opportunity to stay in this cozy water-front vacation home. We both hope to go back again.

We are from the mountains of central Pennsylvania but have always had an attraction to the water. Many of our memories are of our pleasant times spent at the Outer Banks.
One of the first places we stayed here is just 2 blocks from our cottage. That was during the beginning of our courtship. As the years passed we kept coming back here to the Outer Banks to enjoy the quiet, clean beaches and to have time away to recharge. We saw the need to invest in our cozy cottage for future generations to enjoy as well. We are only to happy to share our cozy cottage with our guests. When we stay here it feels like home. Our dog Tipper usually comes along too as you will see in the additional pictures.
One of us is a scuba diver and the other a kite boarder so this place offers the best of both.
We hope that you will create memories as we have done. Relax, recharge and enjoy your stay!

Kindest regards!

Jim and Mary

We have been enjoying the Outerbanks for over a decade and for the 2011 season we are offering our newly acquired vacation home for others to enjoy. We have found Frisco to be one of the nicest areas of the Outer Banks. The warm waters soothe and gentle breezes relax. We appreciate the beautiful beaches and how natural and uncommercialized the area is.

What makes this property unique

Laid back island lifestyle. Home away from home. Perfect relaxing vacation spot with real friendly locals. Freshly caught fish and shellfish.
