We recently stayed at this charming cottage and couldn't have been happier with our experience. The property was impeccably clean and offered a comfortable, quiet retreat. Our teens especially loved having their own beds and their loft room, which gave them their own space to relax. The location was perfect—close to all the attractions and amenities Prairie du Chien has to offer. We highly recommend this cottage for anyone seeking a peaceful and stylish place to call home while on vacation. (Yes, the cottage is 1 block from the train tracks, but we didn’t hear the trains after the first day. The trains don’t sound their horns from 10p to 6a. We all slept soundly.)
Wonderful little house for cozy stay. Clean and comfortable. Had all the amenities you would expect to find in a quality hotel. Quite neighborhood except for an occasional train passing through on the tracks a block or two away.
We had a lovely time at the Harwood House. The pictures on the website were exactly like the house. Cute as could be ... our favorite room was the sunroom. We had coffee in morning and dinner in the evening. We appreciate that we could
take our dog. He liked the treats Shirley left for him. Shirley made it so easy to there there. Thank you!

This little house is so cute and decorated so wonderfully. It has a cottage vibe. Has everything you need to stay for a few days and longer. The fridge is small so if you are staying longer time frame, it may not hold everything you need. It worked for our needs! Our hostess was very easy to work with and the communication was great. Comfortable beds for sleeping, nice size shower and the four seasons room is great for relaxing. There are rail road tracks close by but we were able to sleep through most of the trains that came through. I highly recommend this place and will book it again!
What a nice, cute, comfortable house! I had such a great sleep here, which is so important to me when I stay away from home to attend an event or sight see in an area. I need energy for the day! I did not know this house was dog friendly! Really cute, welcoming set up for your pooch. Convenient location to head out of town if you're checking out the surrounding area. This house is close to a train track, so there is train noise and vibration, but that didn't bother me. I loved my stay here, and would definitely stay here again.
We were in the area for a wedding. The house was great with enough room for all 4 of us to spread out and get ready, so much better than a hotel room.
The only downside is that it's close to the active and very busy railroad tracks, but that would not dissuade us from staying here again.
Thank you, Shirley!
The property/home was exactly as stated. Very clean. Easy to communicate with owner. We loved having breakfast in the sun room. Located within easy access of all the places we visited. Highly recommend this location.
My friends and I were very pleased with this home! It was stocked with everything we needed and very clean. It was a short distance to downtown Prarie Du Chen making our stay even better! I would definitely stay here again!
A comfortable well appointed house in a perfect location many activities.
We had a great 3 night with our dog at Harwood House while enjoying the state parks on both sides of the river and the Effigy Mounds National Monument. We were also able to walk to downtown Prairie Du Chien as well as the very interesting St. Feriole Island Park and the Mississippi River. The house was perfect for us and exceeded all expectations.
Our daughter got married in PDC. We live somewhat local, but decided we wanted to stay in town for the weekend. Everything was perfect! We had everything we needed at the house, and then some. Thank you for sharing your house with us!

Okay Stay
It was perfect for our needs, but after checking out we found that the host had numerous cameras that weren't disclosed on the listing. If you don't want to be watched your entire stay this won't be the place for you.
This house is so cute, clean, cozy and inviting. The screened in porch in the back is heavenly to enjoy in the early morning as you wake up. The game room, sitting room off the kitchen is a fun "get away" and is decorated with such cute added touches, as is the entire home. I will call it a "home" because it "feels" like home. The beds are so comfy you feel like you are being hugged all night. The property is very easy to find and we enjoyed it being away from the busyness of downtown, but easy to get places in a short time.
The property is a reflection that Shirley and her husband are great owners and take pride in their home.
Shirley and her husband were very hospitable, prompt, friendly, helpful, and concise in their communication with us. They definitely shines in all aspects.
We hope to book it again next year.
We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, just a few blocks from the river! Shirley was quick to respond to anything we needed. The cottage was clean and decorated nicely! The cottage is centrally located to anywhere you need to go! This was my third stay at a rental property and by far the best. Shirley left a card for us and even treats for our furbaby! I totally recommend this cottage!
Close by to Mississippi River scenery and parks. We were very appreciative of such a nice, cute, well renovated place. We were grateful it was also dog friendly. Thanks to our host!
