About this property

5,000 Sq Ft Ski In/Out!

Built in 2011, this ski in and ski out 5,000 sq. ft. home is located in an aspen grove on Columbine hill - right above the base area ski lifts. This house has Scandinavian feel, with impeccable design by an award winning architect.

This house has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 10-12.

In the summer, the early evening concerts at the base can be heard on the house's wrap around deck. Enjoy the music and the views from home or you can just walk on down the hill to the base! The aspens around the house make for incredible summer/fall hikes. Biking trails can be accessed just steps from the house.

In the winter, ski in and out! Ski out from the culdesac to the bottom of Red Lady lift, ski in from the owners' trail at the top of Painter Boy, across Columbine hill. The easy ski out is for all levels of skiers. The ski in can be challenging for beginners.

This house has panoramic mountain views, floor to ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchen. Massive granite countertops, wet bar, large dining room table (seats 14).

There is a king bed in the huge master suite, along with two twin-size couches that can easily accommodate small children. In the second and third bedrooms, there are queen beds. One of these bedrooms also has a futon, which converts to a bed for either one adult, or two children. Both of these bedrooms open into a second living room. This living room has another couch that can easily be converted into a bed. On this same floor, there is a TV room with large sectional sofa.

The 4th bedroom/living space is perfect for kids of all ages. It has 2 sets of bunk beds. There are double beds on the bottom of the bunks, and singles for the top (the kids will have to flip for it!) . This huge room has its own mini kitchen with full fridge. This is really a huge space with another den area. This area also has a sectional sofa and large screen TV. There is also a private bath with tub and shower.

Blair Garth, the owner, is a well-known artist - enjoy her paintings on the walls!

Come to this beautiful home, nestled amongst the aspens with incredible views, ski in and out!

Special note: 4WD vehicles are highly recommended for winter visitors.

Beautiful view of mtns
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. There was plenty of room for all 3 of our families...it was nice to have several different spaces to gather. Mud room for ski gear was handy. The ski in/out worked pretty well....took us a time or two to figure it out coming back to the house. Loved the magnificent view of the mountains from all levels of the house. Overall, we would definitely stay here again! thanks

Perfect Ski Retreat
This home had everything our group needed for a long ski weekend in Crested Butte. More than enough space and beds for everyone to be comfortable, a well stocked kitchen and open floor plan for everyone to gather, and easy and convenient ski in ski out abilities. We would love to come back!

Loved this house!
As others have said, this house is even more impressive in person than online photos. The owner's bedroom on the upper level is massive with a huge closet! You could easily set up a port-a-crib in it and then there are two couches that really would easily serve as beds and could sleep teens also. So in just the one room, you could sleep parents, two kids and an infant, if needed. We loved having our privacy however from the rest of our family. The view from the shower/bath combo is unbeatable! The main level is great for big groups and entertaining. The kitchen is large and open and easily accommodates 6 people working in it comfortably. The pantry/washer dryer/mudroom area is a gem! Ideal for skiers, but it was also great for our extended family in the summer as it gave us lots of room for all our food that didn't need to be refrigerated. The owner stocks the cabinets well with spices, olive oil, etc. and it's nice that you can just leave your extra canned goods and jars that haven't been opened for the next guests. The fridge had lots of mustard ketchup, mayo, etc. The only suggestion is there is a need for a medium sized saucepan and a large skillet. The only choice was a huge wok. I know items in a rental get "legs", so just a heads up that they've walked. Other than that the kitchen is well-stocked. Large stand mixer, blender, toaster, coffee maker, hot tea maker etc. Also, Blair is great at communicating with you if you have any questions! The views from the main level are phenomenal! You can see the lifts running taking the mountain bikes up the mountain. Driving you are just 3 minutes to the mountain base and 6 minutes to the historic downtown area. There aren't really restaurants in the mountain base area, so it's nice it's not a long drive into downtown. There is a free shuttle at the end of the road, (maybe 3/10 mile walk) but we never took it. After the main level there are two more lower levels. In the lower level there are two bedrooms that share a nice Jack and Jill bathroom with tub/shower combo. Also two more living areas with large TV. This floor can sleep a lot of people! If you've got teens that are happy to sleep on futons and couches, this would be the level for them. The deck has a hammock and I think 6 Adornandack chairs. The lowest level (walkout basement level) has two bunk bed sets. Each one has a double on bottom and single on top. I could go on, but out of room! You'll love this home!

Awesome Spring Break fun!
We really enjoyed our stay and found the house to be very accommodating for 3 families! We were a little surprised by all of the stairs, but it worked out great since we had multiple age groups allowing everyone to have their own floor! As stated in the description, the ski out was not to difficult to figure out and the ski in was a little challenging to figure out at first but once we figured it out we were able to take advantage of not having to load up cars with ski equipment and not having to make multiple trips to get everyone when they were done skiing! Blair (the owner) was great at communicating with us prior to our trip and was very easy to work with!

Better than Perfect House!
This house was incredible!! There are so many positive things to say! Space - Not only large, but really set up well with bedrooms on different floors to allow privacy. Also, numerous bathrooms to allow everyone to feel at home. Living room, kitchen, and dining room sets up really nice to host big or multiple families for entertainment, eating and hanging out. This was probably our favorite feature. Very nice modern look - Not your typical Colorado ski home, but it was refreshing to have a different vibe. Ski In / Ski Out - exactly as advertised. Ski out was relatively easy after very short walk to cul de sac. Ski In was super easy once we figured the correct path back. If snow is soft, it can be a little dicey, but it's ski in / ski out under normal conditions. My 8 year old had little issues. Great location!

Spacious home with beautiful views
We loved this home! We stayed there with our three boys, my brother & sister in law and their three boys and there was more than enough room for the 10 of us. You can't beat the views and the radiant flooring keep the whole house very cozy. It is recommended that you have a four wheel drive vehicle in the winter and I would say that it is actually required. My brother in law decided to risk it and bring his front wheeled drive mini van. Let's just say he had to be towed out of the driveway at the end of our stay. (Maybe he'll listen to us next time ;-)). I definitely recommend staying at this home. It's conveniently located only 5 minutes from the base of the mountain and only 15 minutes from town. Look forward to going back in the future!

Amazing!
This was the perfect home with so much space for our family and unbelievable views. Wake up in the morning and take in the views while sipping coffee and watching the deer below. Our son was getting married at the top of Mt Crested Butte and this home was absolutely perfect for the Bride to get ready and the location to the base was great . Blair was so easy to work with and her art work around the home is a perfect touch. When we left today I told my family I wish I was coming back tomorrow

Fantastic home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home... and that is coming from a seasoned vrbo family. The host is incredibly gracious. And the views were absolutely incredible - from each living room & dining room to even within the master shower - wow! We had three generations with us and appreciated the bedrooms on three different levels. So many spots to get away from people, or many places to sit and visit comfortably with them. We did see fox and other wildlife... we really could have stayed forever. I can see why 4WD is recommended for the winter between the drive way and the road to the house. But just take it slow and all is well. The location was actually perfect for us attending a family wedding at the Mountain Wedding Garden just a mile away. We would love, love, love to return. Thank you so much!

Perfect house for large groups
We were a group of 11 and the house was plenty spacious. We loved the infloor heating. The kitchen was fully stocked and the dining table fit our whole group. The ski in and out was a little tough for some in our group. CB got tons of snow that weekend and the powder was up to waist for some. We would definitely come back.

Property was as wonderful as I had hoped!
We had three couples and four kids ranging in age from 5 to 16. The house was perfect, enough space for everyone. It was nice having a table large enough for us all. The kitchen had everything we needed. The kids claimed the upper bunkbeds were squeaky so it made it hard to sleep. I think the altitude was keeping them awake. Ski in, ski out was not feasible due to the lack of snow. My only suggestion would be to update the arrival instructions. We had a blown fuse on our arrival and when we called to find out where the fuse box was located we were informed that the management company that we had numbers for were no longer managing that property. They were great and told us where the fuse box was. Luckily we did not have any other questions and no other issues arose during our stay. I would definitely stay there again!

Great place for a large group
We had the best time as a boys get away. The house was great. Clean and fully stocked of essentials. Great outdoor space and hang out space as well. We struggled with the ski in/out portion as it was not clear on best routes to take, but on 3rd day we nailed it lol. Maybe the owner could provide best routes to take.

Beautiful house, great views, nice owner
The house is gorgeous and fits multiple families very nicely being 4 stories. The owner is very friendly and does have some very cool artwork. The views during the day and at night are probably some of the best in Mt. Crested Butte. The table was able to sit our entire group for some great dinners (it sits about 12 people). I could go on and on about all of the good stuff, but I only have two items that could be improved/clarified. The ski in was very tough on Columbine Hill. I think it was much tougher because it was late in the season and that slope was chunks of ice. Only on the last day did they extend the groomed portion down closer to the house. As a result, we couldn't use the house like we wanted to be a true ski in/ski out. Also, we would have loved to had a hot tub after a day on the slopes looking out at the beautiful view. Everything else was absolutely wonderful.

Crested Butte Ski Vacation
I spent a week at this home and the house is furnished very nicely, very convenient to the MTN, literally ski in & out with easy access to & from the lifts. The trail in & out is quite fun! All the amenities you would expect are available & the house is extremely warm & comfortable. We would wake up in the a.m. have breakfast, check email, throw on our gear, ski for a couple hours and we could easily go back to the home for lunch or to regroup, then go back out for more skiing. I would highly recommend this place for families as it provides a great general meeting area, Kitchen, Dining room, Living Room, but allows for privacy. Great Layout & the Views are splendid.

The Real Deal Skiing Home
Many CO homes talk about the views, accommodations and location to the slop, but few can compare to this home. We had a guys trip that lasted 9 days and the home was perfect. Plenty of space to have your own room due to its 4 floors, while the main floor allowed for entertaining and great dinning area. Right next to the slopes and ciews are absolutely breathtaking and can't be done justice in a picture. Can't wait to go back!

Loved the warmth (literally) of the in floor heating. Stayed toasty even under below zero temps outside. Ski-in, ski-out was easy for our group. Contemporary design is refreshing and the kitchen has a great wet bar for evening cocktails. View of Mt. CB and town is stunning. Highly recommend for families, groups of friends, etc.

About the host

Hosted by Blair Garth

Host profile image
My husband and I both grew up on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, but we have a love for the mountains as well. We discovered Crested Butte back in the 1980s and decided to build our dream mountain get-away in 2008. We have two daughters who share our passion for the beach and the mountains

Why they chose this property

We chose Crested Butte as the location of our mountain escape because of the freindliness of the town, the lack of crowds and the multitude of activities available in and near this quaint, historic mining town.

What makes this property unique

We never tire of the fabulous panoramic views available from almost every room of the house. The in-floor heat keeps the home at a perfect temperature year round and the spaciousness allows us to have friends and family visit without feeling cramped.
