The Flats at Front + Union (100 E Front Street, Traverse City, MI) is a boutique hotel that sits on the most prominent corner of downtown Traverse City, the corner of Front St and Union St. One block away from everything, including the beaches, marina, nightlife and downtown Traverse City restaurants. Each Flat comes with its own downtown parking spot.

Each flat is immersed in downtown Traverse City. You can walk to everything.
The corner units, Flat 201 and Flat 301 have views of West Bay down Union Street. Flat 302 has floor to ceiling windows facing Front St, the main street in downtown Traverse City. Flat 205 and 304 face west for the sunset. Flat 203 faces south and has bedrooms that are tucked into the building and show off the brick construction from 1890.
Each flat includes a fully equipped modern kitchen. We are proud to offer plush king beds adorned with soft linens locally sourced from Eelo (you can find our website by searching “Eelo Traverse City”). Eelo is owned by the Vander Roest family (one of the two families that own Front and Union) and occupies the ground floor retail space of the Front and Union building. Eelo sources, designs and manufactures its own organic, fair trade household linens. It has been reported in reviews that our linens will provide some of the best sleep you’ll ever have. The flats are fully furnished with a Scandinavian feel, functional, yet simple.
The Flats at Front + Union are located within the historic Masonic Building, built in 1890 and repurposed into a multi use building in 2023 by two local Traverse City families.
For Summer, West Bay beach, the marina and open space are all one block away. The Sleeping Bear Dunes are within a 45 minute drive.
In the Fall, enjoy a daytime color tour in Leelanau or Old Mission Peninsula followed by dinner and drinks at the famous Restaurants in downtown Traverse City.
Winter activities include skiing at local ski hills, Hickory and Mt Holiday, day trips to Boyne Mountain or Crystal Mountain, cross country or skate skiing at the VASA trail, or a simple snowshoe at Sleeping Bear Dunes.
