A quiet getaway that is less than a mile from Howard Marsh, and only a quick drive to Maggie Marsh, Maumee state Park and Meinke marina. It is in close proximity to a marina, with ample parking for a boat. Free boat ramp 7mi drive. This welcoming house will provide comfort during your stay wherever you decide to adventure: birding, fishing, swimming, or just relax. Home is pet friendly.

We provide a breakfast treat to enjoy during your stay along with your coffee out on the balcony or on the way to the Lake.

The unit comes with AC, Wi-Fi.. Our VRBO is within driving distance to several popular parks. An ideal base to explore northwest ohio.

Great stay for a family or couple that wants to be within driving distance of beautiful spots!

We loved staying so close to so many beautiful preserves and the lake. The owner baked us bread! It was so nice.

Perfect Place

The Fisherman’s Retreat was great! Perfect size for me and my cat to stay. Close enough to spend time in the city, and close to nature preserves.

Lovely cabin

We really enjoyed our time here. The cabin wasnt the most stocked or modern, but it was everything we needed for two days. Very close to great birding parks and beaches. The super market nearby has a little bit of everything and we loved the outdoor patio.The hosts were very nice to make us cinnemon bread which we enjoyed. Overall good experience!

The cabin provided a great, quiet place to stop on both ends of a long road trip. The hosts provided a thoughtful baked treat for us to enjoy, and everything was just as described.

Hunting trip

Stayed here for the short drives to the marshes, the property was clean and very nice to stay at, the host was very responsive and answered any questions I had. If I have any need to come back to the area I’ll stay again.

The property was very nice and the property manager was very timely and responsive. Only concern is that potential for pipes to freeze if there is not a way to circulate the heat from upstairs. The property manager was very accommodating and assisted with additional heat sources. The only concern is for the property itself, our stay was fine and they made sure we were taken care of.

We had a great weekend at the this property. Communication was excellent with the host and property was as described. Location was great for birdwatching/hiking in proximity to Maggie marsh and Howard marsh. Ate at bono tavern and Oregon inn. Jacks Superette is a close grocery store

Loved the cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. It was so relaxing and quiet. Perfect getaway! The homemade cinnamon bread was an added bonus!

Great mini house for small family or 3 adults

Host was attentive and hospitable. They even had fresh friendship bread for our family to enjoy. The kids loved it! Cute primitive woodsy decor through the home making it very cozy feeling. Deck and balcony were well maintained. Great experience!

Clean and Nice place to explore out of

3 of us stayed 4 nights here and all thought that the house was very clean and well put together. And appreciated the privacy and silence that this home delivered. We all slept very well and were very comfortable aswell as being within or just over half an hour to Port Clinton or surrounding areas. If we get back out that way we will be staying again. Everything was perfect, loved the little home and the area to visit!! Lots of wonderful nature places. Only improvement would be the mosquitoes but they were all in the area, my guess from the marshes.

Why they chose this property

This is an unique house that has a neighboring home that had been vacant for years. We are in the process of renovating it so that visitors can book a vacation with their family/friends. Be assured that no construction will be taking place while you are visiting. :)

What makes this property unique

It is close enough to route 2 to get to where you would like to go with ease. For birders and those exploring the outdoors, it is very close to all of the local parks Howard Marsh ( recently expanded), Metzger and Maggie Marsh. It is also close to Maumee Bay State Park that includes lakeside and a man made beach.
