About this property
Kennebec River House -- Sweeping River Views and Hiking Trails
Located at the end of a private cul-de-sac in the highly coveted north Bath, this updated ranch house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an open floor plan with chef's kitchen, dining area and sitting room with wood burning fireplace.
The master bedroom looks out to the woods in the Thorne Head Preserve. It is minimally furnished with a king bed, walk-in closet, and ensuite bathroom with shower.
The second bedroom also looks out to the Preserve and has a double bed and closet.
There is an unheated sunporch that has a pullout couch and desk.
The main living area is an open floor plan, bright and airy with sweeping views of the Kennebec. The kitchen has all the mod cons with marble countertops and stainless steel appliances. There's a dining area and sitting room with the largest L-shaped couch you've ever seen hugged around a wood burning fireplace.
Bath is a quaint town on the Kennebec river, recently voted one of the best small towns to live in America. Front Street and Maine Street have antique shops, boutique clothing stores, a great health food store, and Cafe Creme, a lovely coffee shop.
Stroll around historic downtown to see the architecture, or walk along the riverside park and stop in at the Farmer's market. If you enjoy nature and hiking, a trailhead to Thorne Head Preserve adjoins the property. Otherwise, Popham Beach, Sewall Pond, Morse Mountain bird reserve and Josephine Newman Sanctuary are each about 15 minute drive.
Boaters can take tours down the Kennebec (or even to Seguin Lighthouse) through the River Run tours, or the Maine Maritime Museum. This museum also has exhibits for all ages, highlighting the history of the town that once was famous for building clipper ships, including a boat builders area and a pirate ship.
Shoppers will love that Bath is 20 minutes drive from Freeport Outlet town and LL Bean flagship store. Bath is also 15 minute drive from the quaint town of Wiscasset, which is fast becoming Maine's antique-shop capital, and a 15 minute drive from Brunswick, home of Bowdoin College.
