About this property

5 Acre Private Hollow w/Brook Running Under Cabin!

About this space
Unforgettable adventures and quality time with the loved ones await you, when you book this cozy mountain hollow get a way! Go hiking and exploring or simply snuggle up with your favorite blanket and hot beverage while listening to the calming sound of the babbling brook that runs beneath the cabin. Whether you're looking for a private retreat for just you and your significant other, or a place to take the whole family, you'll find everything you need here at the Babbling Brook Holler.
The space
Our cabin is tucked away in it's own private 5 acre hollow close to downtown Highlands, NC. A brook/creek crosses the property and runs beneath the cabin offering your own personal soundscape to relax to. The property is perfect for families to come and relax and spend time outdoors hiking, fishing, kayaking, climbing, exploring, and so much more. The main cabin has two oversized screened in porches which are great for gathering and or simply relaxing...and the hammock and hot tub help with both. The indoor space of the main cabin has a large master suite with spa-like bathroom w/ large Jacuzzi tub, a guest bedroom, a loft with a trundle bed, and a sleeper sofa in the common area. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals. There is a second structure "The Shack" with additional sleeping and living quarters just feet away which is perfect for kids, teens,...in-laws, etc. There are three Smart TV's on the property(two in main cabin and one in "The Shack") which offer streaming services like Netflix & Prime, just login and start streaming (don't forget to logout before you depart). In addition, there is a bluetooth/record player for your enjoyment. The property is 7 miles away(approx. 15 min) from all of the best shopping, restaurants and fun experiences Highlands, NC has to offer. There are 74 waterfalls and countless other points of interest within a 30 mile radius. Our property is conveniently located close to not only Highlands, NC, but other popular NC towns such as Cashiers, Sapphire, and Franklin and the Georgia towns of Clayton, Sky Valley, Dillard, and Tiger.
Guest access
The road to the cabin is a gravel road. In most weather(aside from snow) it is easy to navigate for just about any vehicle. As with most roads, not just mountain roads, when snow/ice is present 4x4 is necessary.

For a good stretch of the road, it is a one-way road. There are pit(pullover) areas at certain spots on both sides of the road where someone coming in and or going out can access to allow others to pass. The road is quiet and void of a lot of coming and going, but you may at one time encounter someone leaving as your arriving and vice versa. It's not at all complicated, but something to note as you plan for your arrival.

Great Weekend Getaway

My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary weekend getaway at this cabin! Nice and private while not being too far from Highlands and some good hikes and restaurants. There was some issue getting the initial check-in information from Vrbo, but once I directly contacted the host he was very helpful and responsive to our questions. We would book again!

Off the beaten path

Cute cabin tucked away on the side of a mountain. The drive is easy, even on the gravel road. There was plenty of room for the 2 of us. The kitchen was small but big enough for us. There is limited seating if more than 3 people want to watch tv in the living room. We loved the wood burning stove and screened in porches. The hot tub was very nice in the chilly weather. Donnie was very helpful and very responsive. Note: you will not have internet once you start up the mountain. Make sure you have copies of all pertinent information before you lose service. The cabin does have WiFi though. We enjoyed our stay!

Cozy hideaway!

This cozy cabin is a bit off the grid, but we all enjoyed our stay immensely!! Comfortably sleeps 8 (my boys loved “The Shack”) with a pull-out couch as an extra. Spacious master bathroom with large soaking tub. Everyone loved the hot tub and the huge front porch was a great place for morning coffee or an evening read in the hammock. Kitchen is small, but has everything ended for a week away. Host was attentive and easy to reach. Thank you for a great vacation!!❤️

Remote cabin in beautiful setting

The drive to the cabin was gorgeous, and it is a very remote area if coming from the Atlanta area. However, a really convenient drive into Highlands, North Carolina and tons of waterfalls and trails. The cabin itself was clean and cozy, and the two screened porches were its best features, including the hot tub on the back porch. The view was incredible. Dense woods, ferns, moss, wildlife; such a magical location. The kitchen was small and sparse, no oven mitts, not quite enough dishes for the amount of people staying, and the last guests didn’t really do a superb job of cleaning said dishes. The little bunkhouse apartment was a really neat feature, and fun for our teen girls to stay in across the driveway from the main cabin. It doesn’t have a bathroom, so that’s something to keep in mind. Overall, a few essentials were missing, but we really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely book this cabin again.
