Beautiful Views, NO INTERNET/PHONE SVC

This place was beautiful, clean, had amazing views. The only problem, NO internet or phone svc AT ALL our whole stay & HOST was NO RESPONSE until her asst msgd us in the am after our check out time. The host turned us down to check in a little early (normal check in is 4pm & ck-out 10am) due to guests coming from out of the country, we weren't looking to pay additional early checkin fees when we were ONLY staying 1 night, knowing it would include full cleaning fee (same as if stayed a week). We just wanted to make sure checkin went smoothly and get settled in to enjoy the few hours we had for the one night. Once we finally got in there was no service to internet or phones and we had to drive miles away to sit on side of road msg'g the host-NO REPLY. Gave up and the rest of the night worried if any emergency happened there was no way to call for help! That was very concerning to all the guests and put a huge responsibility on me not being able to enjoy a drink in case I'd have to drive to make a call. Again, this place was gorgeous but something has to be done about the service in the event of an emergency.

Originally from Connecticut, I am a financial services lawyer who lived in New York City for seven years and then moved to Hong Kong in 2000 Where I stayed until 2023. I recently relocated to Lisbon Portugal with my partner and two cats where we just adopted a rescue Labrador. I enjoy cooking, traveling and hosting two short term rental properties.

Why they chose this property

My mother started going to camp in Maplecrest 1936 and worked there as a teenager. The lady who owned the camp left my mother the property that our family house is now built on. The valley is a special place of peace and natural beauty with abundant wildlife.

What makes this property unique

We have simply stunning views of the mountains and an amazing kitchen where you can take advantage of all the fresh local produce to prepare a beautiful meals for your family and friends. You can walk to dozens of trailheads from the house and enjoy hiking or mountain biking throughout the valley In the warmer months. In the winter, it’s a short drive to the ski areas of both Windham and Hunter. The house is in a remote, private location surrounded by acres and acres of forest.
