About this property
Cozy Duke Park Retreat, Whole House
Welcome to my spacious, homey ranch home in lovely Duke Park. The location is the ideal spot to base your Bull City adventure: in a quiet, family friendly neighborhood 1.5 miles to the heart of Downtown. Enjoy the cozy bedrooms, fully appointed eat-in kitchen, comfortable living room, airy front porch and original local art work as you make yourself at home.
In the age of Covid, I offer my home Fri-Tues. Home will be sanitized between stays.
I will be out of town during your stay, but will be available through the AirBnb app or text. And, of course, hope I can answer all of your questions ahead of time!
Duke Park is a quiet, tree lined downtown neighborhood, that feels farther from the action than it is! It's the perfect place to base your Durham adventures.
You'll be able to unwind from your day with a glass of wine on the front porch, watching neighbors walking their dogs and kids to the park. Or, start your day with a run or a walk on the Ellerbe Creek Trail.
You'll have the whole house to yourselves!
This 1950's ranch includes several quaint original features - including the oven and stove top - mixed with modern upgrades, like the renovated master bathroom. Large windows and honey-colored hardwood floors make for a warm, inviting refuge during your stay in Durham. Each bedroom includes generous windows, infusing the space with soft light.
You'll rest your weary bones on cotton sheets and a down comforter. Get refreshed under a rain-fall shower head (the master bath has 3 settings in a custom extra-large shower!)
The kitchen is fully appointed and operational! There's plenty of space for your groceries, all the cooking tools and even storage containers for your leftovers. Organic teas and locally roasted coffee is provided for you to start your day, and I hope you'll make use of my herb garden.
You’ll notice unique and beautiful art on the walls, courtesy of ArtHaus. My home gallery will feature the work of Durham artists DL Anderson [dlandersondotcom], Mark Maya and Reid Rosemond. All marked pieces you see during your stay are available to purchase from the artist.
Location is exceptionally convenient, with easy access to I-85, Hwy 70 and Hwy 147. You will be blocks from Duke Park and the Ellerbee Creek Trail, walking or biking distance to the DIY district (Fullsteam Brewery, Motorco, Geer Street Garden, Cocoa Cinnamon- 0,7mi), Downtown Durham (1.5mi), Duke's East Campus (1.5mi), and grocery shopping (See my recommendations!). Duke's West Campus is 10 minutes by car, 25 minutes by bike, and 40 minutes by bus (No. 4).
I lived here for years without a car, and have always found it easy to get anywhere I needed to go.
I have a guest bike available for an additional charge of $3 per day/$15 per week/$60 per month. Includes lights and reflectors, helmet, bell, rack and panniers, and lock.
It's easy to get to Raleigh (25mi), Chapel Hill (9mi) or RTP (10mi) with a car, cab or Uber/Lyft.
RDU is just 25 minutes away, and the train and Megabus stops are 1.5 miles away.
There is ample street parking if you have your own vehicle.
Note: I share a driveway with my neighbor. so the driveway is only available for loading/unloading. There is plenty of free street parking in front pf the house.
While we are happy to host families, please note that the house is not “child-proofed,” nor do we provide any child-focused amenities (no crib, pack-n-play, high chair, etc).
We do ask that guests are relatively quiet after 10 PM, as a courtesy to neighbors. Parties and loud groups are not permitted. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors.
Smoking or vaping of any substances is not permitted on the premises.
Reservations longer than 29 nights may incur additional fees.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, guests are expected to abide by CDC/WHO guidelines, as well as all North Carolina and Durham Covid-19 guidelines. Full up-to-date orders can be seen at ncdotgov.
