This was a great option if you’re staying in the area. Great communication with the owner, all the appointments you need. Great (very very small) town but again all you need. Be sure to get coffee from Acadia and Mexican at el Checo’s. Only thing I’d note is the upstairs bathroom is bathtub only which is clearly called out in the description but just want to be sure folks saw that. Highly recommended if you’re needing a great place in Ironton.
Stayed at the Sutton House while in town for a wedding at the Arcadia Academy. Plenty of room for the whole family.
Host Tina was very responsive to every question and checked on us to make sure everything was perfect.
Thank you.
Easy drive from St. Louis and great location due to close proximity to Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-ins, Bonne Terre underground mine tour. The kitchen was well stocked and we used it to cook some family meals. Rooms are very large with comfortable bedding. Property was very clean, safe and base for family day trips for hiking. Internet WiFi. Will def rent this property again. Tina was very considerate.
An exquisite home, impeccably maintained with just the right mix of modern and vintage. Staying at the property was like taking a step back in time. We marveled at all of the details and amenities, but by far, our favorite was the original doorbell located on the front door.
My family if adult children had an amazing week here. The property is very beautiful and well kept. It was sticked wit everything we needed. Thank you for a great time.
The house is much bigger than it looks from the outside. There is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their own sleeping quarters. The neighborhood was quite and safe. Ironton is a nice town with friendly people. Our family was headed on a long road trip on decided to stay in this house instead of a hotel. That was the right decision. Overall, the host was excellent with exceeding our needs and I'd stay here again if we are ever in this region.
Great location, easy to get to several of the state parks and attractions. So much to do in this area! The house was very clean and really charming, beautiful kitchen renovation and great outdoor area with fire pit. The owners were very communicative and friendly. Great place to stay!
They have done so well with Grandpa’s house. I especially liked the 3 kingsized beds, and the twin beds were perfect for our teenage grandkids. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was great for cooking breakfast. Loved the outdoor fire pit and seating. Parking very convenient. Area is lovely old neighborhood in this small town. Several places to eat at reasonable prices in town. Close to ElephantRocks and Johnson’s Shut in. Would recommend.
Tina was wonderful!! We had a mixup with Vrbo and she helped us work through it. The house itself was clean with very comfortable beds all in an excellent location. We look forward to visiting again!
Quaint clean house near golf course in Arcadia. Accommodations were very nice.

My daughter-in-law and I stayed here on our overnight hiking trip. The house was perfectly clean and well-stocked. We both slept well and had a wonderful time. We especially appreciated not having to do anything before checking out… just locked the door behind us!
We both said we’d stay here again!
We came with another family and stayed at the beautiful Sutton home for Father's day weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, had everything we needed, plenty of space, and there was great communication with the host. All the kids asked if we can come back again and stay at the same house sometime!
We brought our four granddaughters to Ironton for part of our annual Mema camp. This was a great place for us to stay for easy access to Johnson Shut-ins and Elephant Rock State Park. The house was perfect for what we needed and the girls loved playing outside in the lawn.
The house is amazing. I chose to stay here because my son loves older homes. It did not disappoint. The front porch was perfect for morning coffee. Tina kept me informed and answered my questions promptly.
The Sutton House and the hosts were amazing Folks, just like a warm, welcoming Family for my Family!!! The house itself is delightfully appointed in a Victorian type atmosphere with antique furniture and lamps and beds while accommodating the guests with all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable kitchen, bath and living room situation. Wonderful restaurants, grocery stores, museums and National Parks very close by, The Arcadia Family community itself is steeped in agriculture, mining and Civil War history with very interesting pre-Civil War Churches and a Scholastic Academy close by complete with an awesome restaurant and ice cream parlour incorporated into the Academy itself. All in all it was a great experience all around, we highly recommend the stay at the Sutton House and experiencing all the sights in the community and surrounding areas!!!
We loved our stay at this beautiful home. We enjoyed visiting all the sites in Arcadia like Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut Ins and canoeing Black River. There were cute shops within walking distance, like Riley's on the Square, Checos Mexican restaurant and coffee at AV Roasting Company. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay. We will be back!
Very pleasant. We enjoyed our time with family and friends.

Bob and I were born and raised in Arcadia Valley. After 35 years of being away we decided to retire back home. We love to travel and spend time with our grandchildren and kids. Avid St Louis. Blues hockey fans. We love hosting and sharing our family home as a way to help finance our travel escapades.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood off of the courthouse square is very quiet. It sits at the base of shepherd mountain.
What makes this property unique
Our home is one of the few traditional Victorians built in the early 1900’s. It was purchased in 1957 by my husband’s grandparents. We are happy to have been able to refurbish the home and offer it for other families to make memories as the Sutton family has for many decades.
