This gorgeous, 2400 square foot home offers a Colorado mountain lodge experience for the whole family. It sits on 16 acres of National Forest, with hot tub, hiking on the property, as well as world-class fishing in Poncha Creek.
The house is just a three minute drive from Poncha Springs with groceries, restaurants, brewery and winery, and eight minutes from Salida for all kinds of shopping, dining, biking, rafting, nightlife, and a huge arcade. Monarch Ski Area is 15 miles away.
You're on the edge of a mountain out here! But the towns of Poncha Springs and Salida are just a few miles away.
Whether it's just you on a weekend getaway, or a group of your besties, you get the whole place to yourself.
There's a queen bedroom and a king bedroom on the lower level, a main level filled with a spacious kitchen, living, and dining room, and the upper level has three comfortable beds: a queen and two full beds.
We want to be sure your group can spread out and be comfortable! Just give us an accurate guest count so we know how many to prepare the space for, and so we can charge accordingly. We charge according to group size so we can accommodate various sizes, and so we can pay our housekeepers according to their workload. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
Nearby attractions include frisbee golf (3 miles away in Poncha Springs), O'Haver Lake for fishing and recreation (5 miles up the pass), and Mears Junction/Rainbow Trail for hiking and mountain biking. Also, if you're a mountain biker, a 3-mile downhill ride to Poncha Springs will get you to a shuttle service to the start of the famed Monarch Crest Trail which can then be ridden back to the house! The location is the best of both worlds since you’ll feel far away on the large mountain property but Salida is only a 7 minute drive to the awesome mountain town amenities like dining, concerts, yoga, shopping, and more.
A few additional items that you're welcome to use while staying with us include an assortment of yard games: light-up bocce ball, light-up frisbee, polish horseshoes (a.k.a. beersbee), ladder golf, rollors, and yard jenga. You're also welcome to enjoy the hammock swings, numerous indoor board games, jig-saw puzzles, DVD player with an assortment of movies, sleeping sound machines, and bluetooth speakers, and a work desk with monitor in the sun room.
Want to stay in and cook? You’ll enjoy the well-equipped kitchen or grilling out on the deck. Or order curbside pick-up or delivery from one of many nearby restaurants.
Our cleaning standards have always been very high (as you can tell by our reviews), but with the advent of the COVID 19 threat, we've doubled-down our already high disinfecting standards to ensure the safety of our employees, guests, and our entire community. We've also added air purifiers to the bedrooms, so rest assured your breathing clean, fresh air!
If you book our home in the winter, please note that you may need 4-wheel drive to get to the house from the highway. We have a 1/4-mile dirt driveway that, while not steep, does get icy. We have it plowed after every snowfall of 4-5 inches or more, but since there is no asphalt under it, we have to let the surface become hard-packed with snow and then just plow down to that. Normal 4-wheel drive vehicles can navigate it just fine and should be able to pull right up to the front steps without any issues.

You're on the edge of a mountain out here! But the towns of Poncha Springs and Salida are just a few miles away. We have excellent Starlink internet for normal internet use. We also have Dish TV.
Verizon cell service works well at the house and we do have a cell phone booster and compatible Wi-Fi calling if needed.
Our place is very kid-friendly and includes a baby gate for the stairs, a pack-n-play, kid plates/cups/utensils, an infant bath tub, step stools, and lots of children's books. We just ask that kids not be allowed to have food or snacks anywhere except in the main floor kitchen and dining area, as spills can be impossible to remove from furniture, bedding, and carpet, and we would hate to have to charge any guests for damages after their stay.
