About this property

Sunny Peaceful Log Cabin SW Exposure, Sandy Beach and Sunsets

A wonderful cedar log cabin only a few feet from the beach. Views of the islands, Foy Park and with southwest exposure you get sun all day and beautiful sunsets. The cabin was built in the 1930's and has been renovated to modern comforts.

The cabin has a great room with a wall of lake front windows, one bedroom with a lakeview window, a cozy kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The great room has a double pull out couch. The lower level has 12' patio doors, a seating area and a bar console with mini fridge.

A firepit area is on the beach by the lake. The beach is sand and small stones. The lake bottom is hard sand with no weeds. Entry to the lake is gradual and great for young children's.

Round Lake is three miles by four miles wide and around 90 feet deep. Water visibility is high, as the lake is fed from springs from adjacent Algonquin Park. Wildlife in the area include: deer, squirrels, chipmunks, otter, beaver, ducks, loons and local habitat. The lake has been stocked with Lake Trout.

One of the finest lakes in The Ottawa Valley and by most standards the largest and most popular lake in a 60 mile radius. Killaloe is the nearest town, eight miles away were you can find a bank, grocery store, health food store, chip stand, LCBO, Hardware Store, Auto Shop, Gas Station and pharmacy. Pembroke the nearest larger town is 30 minutes away. You are about 3000 feet from Foy Provincial Park which has the nicest sand beach on the lake. It is no charge to enter the park and use the beach and hiking trails, as no camping or overnight is allowed.

Homestead at Wolf Ridge Golf Course is a 18 hole course within a 15 minute drive from the Cottage.

Visit the Wilno Kaszub Heritage Museum and you can enjoy a feast of Polish food at the Wilno Tavern.

The neighbour on the other side has 2 small outbuildings by the property line, his cottage is about 100 feet from our cottage. They are a mature couple without children and very quiet.

Pet friendly. A $75 fee is charged per pet maximum 1 pet. Please bring something to cover the furniture and beds if your pet is on the furniture.

Gorgeous waterfront property

It's a small cabin but feels open and spacious due to high ceilings and lots of windows for natural light. It was very clean on arrival and we feel in love at first sight! It was beautiful views, and being close to nature. We had a bonfire 2 nights in a row listening to the waves, loons, geese, owls and foxes! Bed was comfortable and having an efficient heater came in handy for our October vacation! Loved it. Will definitely be back ❤️

A beautiful place to relax and unwind

What a beautiful place to relax and unwind. We had lovely sunny hot days to enjoy the lake breeze and swimming in the warm water (the sand bottom was perfect!). We and our dog enjoyed the daily walk to Foy Provincial park. Sitting in the great room or on the deck watching the lake and the sky was so refreshing!

Beautiful log cabin with spectacular view of Round Lake. Private Sandy beach with all amenities to welcome you to a beautiful relaxing getaway. Lovely deck off the kitchen and lower deck which opens to the Sandy beach. Nancy has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Fully equipped kitchen, with large tv, lots of movies and reading material.the dining table is situated so you can enjoy a meal while watching the waves roll off the beach. Just a perfect stay!! It did rain but we spent the day playing board games and watching movies. Yes the cabin has lots of board games as well.

A great family getaway

This was our second year staying at Nancy's cottage. It's a great spot for kids as there's a huge sandy beach and the water is shallow for 20-30 feet from shore. A wonderful place all around! We've already booked again for next year!

Beach Cottage a piece of paradise.

The Cottage is beautful, it was clean and well stocked with essentials. The beach and lake are clean, perfect for swimming. The Cottage has two kayaks that we enjoyed using. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the birds in the morning while drinking our coffee.

Tranquil moments

We read, we napped and we reflected on life. Our puppy Bowie learned how fun swimming can be and how cozy a fire is at night. We watched the lake for hours and gazed at the stars. We truly enjoyed the moments this place gave us. Places like this remind you to slow down and take time to pause. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Great log cabin and a beautiful clear lake

We had a wonderful, quiet few days here. It felt like we had the lake to ourselves. Thankfully there was A/C during the hottest days of the summer so far. The lake was fabulous, clear and calm. A nice little beach and sandy bottom. Nancy was quick to help us when we had a little trouble with the bbq. I would book this place again.

Wonderful place to stay -- beach was perfect.

The beach was perfect. Very close to the cottage, beautiful sandy bottom, slow descent from shallow to deeper which made it perfect for playing frisbee in the water. Water temperature was warm and inviting every day and the water was crystal clear. Small kitchen, though well stocked and set up with everything you could need so functioned well. Livingroom is a nice open space. View from every room and window was spectacular. Property owner was very quick to respond on every communication and very pleasant to work with. Wonderful place to stay !!!

Anniversary getaway

Solitude on the waters edge. Yes, there are neighbours, if you call not seeing them, hearing anyone or being disturbed in any way having neighbours! Our getaway was absolutely perfect. The weather was amazing. The cottage was quaint and beautiful. The location is roughly half way between Algonquin and Ottawa, so it was in just the right spot. Clean and quiet. Cozy and serene... Thank you Nancy for sharing your cottage with us for a few days.

Piece of Paradise!

Nancy was very quick to reply both through initial contact and throughout my stay and also greeted me when I arrived. She provided excellent local suggestions and was totally accommodating to my particular situation. The cottage and location were spectacular, the cottage was pristine, very cozy and had everything you would need. The views are beautiful from anywhere in the cottage and on the property, it's extremely peaceful and very relaxing. My only regret was that I didn't stay longer. Nancy is a stellar host and I am very grateful that she shares this property with others so that they can also experience the magic of her place. Cheers, Jason

Wonderful cottage on Round Lake

We highly recommend this cottage, especially for two people. The sandy walk-in beach and crystal clear water of the lake was remarkable. The house is beautifully and thoughtfully equipped and the owner has supplied everything one might need. Even without a stove, with a bit of juggling the various small appliances and BBQ made it easy to cook meals. The lake is peaceful with not too many motorized boats. The large windows in both the main room and the bedroom allow for wonderful wide views of the lake. There are so many places to relax both in the sun and not, when not swimming, canoeing/kayaking, walking to Foy Provincial Park, or exploring further afield. It was the perfect getaway from the city.

A perfect cozy getaway for anyone needing to get away from it all.

What a lovely cottage! The online photos do not do this little gem justice, and I wish I could attach some to this review. A wonderful balance between rustic cottage life and modern conveniences to satisfy our needs. The lake was beautiful and great for swimming, and despite the size of the lake, VERY few boaters, which made for a nice quiet stay. We spent our days relaxing by the beach reading, paddling in the kayaks, playing cribbage, taking long walks in the nearby parks, and enjoying the wildlife sightings. Nancy was quick to respond to the only communication we had when power went out for a few hours, informing us of Hydro's expected return to service. Had the fan not stopped spinning, we would not likely have noticed anyway. LOL. We lacked nothing and never needed to go into town for supplies, but decided to do a "driving tour" of the area during the above mentioned power disruption. Of course, we had to visit Kilaloe, home of the Beaver Tail! The kitchen is small, but very functional and had everything we needed. With just the 2 of us, we had no need for an oven or large cooktop, and made perfect use of the BBQ, toaster oven, and induction plate on the one rainy day. The full sized fridge had plenty of space for all our food and drinks, and there was more than enough cupboard space for dry goods etc.. The bedroom with queen sized bed is a tight fit, but very comfy and you don't really need any extra space with the large living space right next door. The living / dining room? What can we say except THAT VIEW! Just sitting on the couch reading and looking out those windows was one of our favourite things to do. Watching the loons, waving and kayakers and paddle boarders, and enjoying the STUNNING sunsets. We wish we could have stayed longer. We hope everyone enjoys this little gem as much as we did.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband is from Texas and I am from Ottawa. We have two boys 19 and 22. We love to travel with our boys and discover new places. Round Lake is our sanctuary and we enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views from the great room. We look forward to spending our evenings around the firepit making smores, telling stories and singing camp songs. We hope you can create some family memories of your own at our cottage.

Why they chose this property

I grew up spending my summers on Round Lake. My parents retired here and most of my siblings have bought property here as well. We love the community, it is a very eclectic area. Lot of music, art and local talent. Festivals, farmers markets and fishing derbys. People here are friendly with a strong sense of community. This is your opportunity to enjoy our cottage and our lake community. We can offer all kinds of suggestions for outings in the area as well as leave a fully stocked binder of brochures and maps for you to plan your week. (or just stay at the cottage and enjoy the lake and sunsets).

What makes this property unique

The lake is always changing. Some days it is calm, others a wind comes up and the waves can be like the ocean. I find that we have very few bugs as we are on the windy side of the lake. With South West exposure you can enjoy the sun most of the day and watch the sunset in the evening. The deck is overlooking the beach and firepit area. The lake has very few boats so it is quiet. I enjoy a morning walk to Foy Provincial Park with my dog. I walk down the beach and through the hiking trail. (about 1.5 miles round trip). The park is a non operating park so usually it is empty in the mornings. It is a magical place.
