The space
Our home is an open concept home with the ground floor being the living room, kitchen, bathroom with a shower, and closets (this is where you'll find the beach toys and towels). This floor has a deck with a BBQ and benches for seating.
The second floor is the master bedroom with en suite bathroom, laundry room and bunk beds and toddler beds for your family. This is also an open concept floor with all the beds in the same room. The toddler bed has a pocket door that can be closed. This floor has a patio that overlooks the lake view, we have two chairs here for you to enjoy the sunrise and your morning coffee.
The third floor has a second king bed, a living room with a TV entertainment center, pool table and a bathroom with a bathtub (please note that using the shower head in this bathroom is not possible due to the low water pressure). If needed two twin and one full sized cots are tucked into the corner. Extra sheets and pillows are stored on the second floor in cabinets and the linen closet.
**IMPORTANT: The "Bunk House" is bedroom #3 and offers a twin over full bunk bed with no bathroom. It is located behind the main house in an exterior building accessible from the back porch. Please note that this area would only be appropriate for an adult, a cozy space for a couple or a child accompanied by an adult as it is detached from the main house and has an exterior door located up a set of stairs from the back of the house. You will need to access the main house to use the bathroom. If you get here and decide "cabin camping" is not for your group, we have a king-sized air mattress that can be set up in either living room.
You'll have exclusive access to our yard, decks and beach area. You are welcome to enjoy our private beach between the dock and the ‘boat house’. The dock has smooth composite decking, perfect for sunbathing and splinter free for the kids. We have a paddle boat, a water bicycle, paddle board, water mat, and a few life jackets available for your use.
Guest access:
Guests will have access to the entire property and house except for two locked closets upstairs. We may need to access the garbage and recycling containers on or before trash day. Trash is collected on Tuesdays. We work closely with a pest control company who may need to access the interior or exterior of the house. We will do our best to schedule the appointments so your stay is not interrupted.
Common questions:
I hear a siren! What is that for?
A: When emergency services dispatches the fire department for a 911 call a loud siren can be heard around the lake. They test the system on Thursdays at 7:00 pm.
Can we have a fire? Should we bring firewood?
A: As long as there isn’t a burn ban in effect, a small beach fire is okay. Bring your own firewood (grocery stores usually carry some). Our fire pit will be under water approx November to April due to the lake level rising.
Do we need to bring drinking water?/Can we drink the water?
A: Our water is potable and safe, but we prefer to drink bottled water for taste. We provide at least 1 - 5 gallon bottle of drinking water from neighbor's well on the lake for our H/C water dispenser. It is okay to use the tap water for cooking.
It seems the tap/shower takes a while to get hot, why is that?
A: We have a combi boiler that heats both the floors and the domestic water. This style boiler is more common in Europe, as it prioritizes room heat over domestic hot water. When the system switches over it can have a 30 second delay (to limit switching with short tap use).
Pros: Endless hot water and toasty warm floors on those cold days. It’s also extremely energy efficient.
Cons: Waiting for a minute at the sink with the tap on.
