About this property
Victorian Mansion 1 Mile from Downtown Minneapolis
Imagine living at the peak of Victorian opulence and luxury, but with all of today's comforts and amenities, and you'll have The Lion's Greene.
Painstakingly restored and renovated, this 6BR, 4BA, 4-level, 4,500 sq ft home means there is space for, and something for everyone. Restored historical interiors with all-new plumbing, electrical, insulation and heating, means this home looks like old, works like new :)
Each bedroom more amazing than the next, with its own unique story, professionally designed, and all feature at least one walk-in closet with built-in storage.
The Louvre: filled with art and photography, featuring a vintage double bed with tufted headboard, and direct access to the 2nd story deck. Enjoy your coffee and relax watching the sunrise. Or, watch the sunlight sparkle off the city skyline as the sun sets.
The Bishop's Bedroom: rich and lavish, this room will bring you closer to heaven with an amazing solid oak double bed and satin sheets. Featuring vintage marble-top vanity and walk-in closet with original leaded glass window.
The Aviary: Designer fabric ceiling, shimmering wallpaper filled with birds, 2 walk-in closets, an amazing hand-carved, marble-top sideboard, and King Bed make this room cozy and bright. Enjoy the private sunroom directly off this bedroom, leading to the 2nd story deck.
The Admiral's Turret: Regal and majestic, this room is an homage to The Admiral himself. Blue, gold, and green hues echo the oceans and the seas. Dive into the king-size bed with waves of pillows. A hand-carved,18th century English sideboard from The Admiral's personal collection stands next to the bed. Sit in your leather chair in the turret, sipping on your drink of choice, watching over your command.
The King's Suite: pretty much says it all. See it to believe it. 12' ceilings, 40" wide crystal chandelier imported from an Italian house of royalty, fireplace and mantel, cozy reading nook, master closet with his/her dressers, and a bathroom too amazing for HGTV.
White Trees in The Onyx Lounge: King bed with unimaginably soft faux fur bedding and pillows. Custom tile accent wall with fireplace. Big modern dresser and large double closet for anything you travel with.
The Onyx Lounge in the lower level features seating, custom built-in bar, BA, exercise room with elliptical, TV, and sauna. 4K projector and 110" screen for an AMAZING place for movie-night, gaming night, or whatever you want to do with 110" and 4K pictures.
Your outdoor entertaining and relaxation options are abundant. Take it easy on the limestone front porch, or on the expansive rear sun porch/deck. 2 bedrooms have access to the 2nd story deck. 1st floor sun porch has 55" 4K smart HDTV. Large 5-burner professional gas grill, table that seats 6, and an outdoor seating seat with couch, chairs, ottoman and other seating. Open the 2 French doors, and suddenly you have an outdoor area that flows into the sunroom for one heck of an entertaining scene.
The home is located a mere 1 mile from Target Field/downtown Minneapolis, in the historic Old Highland neighborhood. Insanely easy access to light rail, public transit, and all major highways. Minutes to the North Loop, Uptown, NE, and other desirable Minneapolis neighborhoods. Also, 2 miles from Theo Wirth Park, one of the biggest and best regional parks in the country. City-living + easy access to outdoor recreation. Seriously, we can't say enough about Wirth. Whether it's mountain biking, cross country skiing, golfing, hiking, swimming, fishing, sledding, or frisbee golf, this park, with the new Loppet Trail Head facility, has become a regional (and national-wide, host of the US Open Skiing event) destination for outdoor recreation. Check it out, directly west of the property right down the road. And 1 mile in the other direction, you can walk along the Mississippi. Best of both worlds.
Things to Note (these also include the house rules)
*The yard itself is still in progress and hasn't been landscaped yet. It is NOT an amenity and we should not be punished for any expectation you may have. Work may be done on the exterior if there are longer stays, if guest grants permission
*The garage is not available
*The home is located 1 mile from downtown. With this comes an amazing, centrally located home near anything you want to do. It also comes with certain things that come along with the inner core of the city. If you're wanting the burbs, this isn't the home for you. Right on the bus line, although personally I believe the street isn't that busy, and the new windows do an amazing job of keeping the home quiet.
*construction is being done on the house next door and across the street.
House Rules (we will also send these prior to check-in and they include a user manual of sorts)
*parking on-street opposite side of the home.
*There is NO smoking inside the house of any kind. Smoking inside will be an automatic charge of $(bid by contractor)
*Shoes OFF at ALL TIMES. This has been proven by the CDC to reduce germs and overall reduces wear and tear to hardwood floors, carpet, and is the EASIEST way to keep the house clean.
**ABSOLUTELY no moving of furniture!! Moving furniture is the easiest way to cause damage, especially to the floors. If you need to move something let me know. Our cleaning crew get paid to clean, not move.
*please make us aware of any issues or concerns within 1 hour of check-in. We'll take any action we can so everything is to your satisfaction. We feel we should not be punished (via comment/negative review) for anything not brought to our attention not given the opportunity to correct to your satisfaction
*Please turn off the little battery operated tea lights we put in the sconces in the DR when not in use :)
*The remote to LR fireplace is on the mantle. Al remotes (TVs, fireplaces, AC units) are to be returned to where you found them. Loss of remotes will be charged.
*No noise or loud activities after 10pm. Please respect the neighbors. Vice versa, if the neighbors are being an issue, please let us know!
*Do NOT put water in the sauna heater. Please sit on towels or yoga mats.
*one garbage can is for recycling, one for trash. We put some cans in the recycling bin to get you started.
Please review Minneapolis guidelines for recycling and follow them. Plastic bags are NOT allowed in recycling bins, for example. If we have to go through the trash to properly sort recycling and garbage you may be charged. Please familiarize yourself with the recycling guide-
https://www.minneapolismn.gov/media/-www-content-assets/documents/recycling-guide-english.pdf. Guests with unsorted or trash in the wrong containers will be charged a fee.
*please turn the front and rear exterior lights on/off at dusk/dawn.
*Please do not use bath towels as makeup removers or rags
*in the Onyx Lounge,
The controller Velcroed on the right end table controls the ceiling light in Onyx Lounge bedroom.
*Please clean before you leave and leave house as you found it. You do NOT need to make the beds :) Please leave all used towels on either bathroom floor.
*Vacuum cleaner is in Lounge closet. Cleaning supplies if you need or wish to use them are under kitchen sink.
*Close and LATCH/lock all windows.
*Feel free leave any clean reusable\extra food or drink. We usually donate those to local charities.
Your main entrance is the rear deck door. To unlock, enter the code, push # and gently pull the handle toward you so the latch actuates. The lock is "sleeping" if it's been inactive, so you're not entering the code until you hear the first "beep." To lock, simply press the # button for 2 seconds and pull handle in a little. It will say "locked" when done.

About the host
Hosted by Blake

Not native to MN, but at this point been here 28 years, all in Minneapolis. I like being a host because I love to offer people unique experiences that contribute to, or enhance, the special moments in their lives.
Why they chose this property
The home is located in Old Highland. All the homes (that are original) are turn-of-the-century marvels that were built by mill, lumber, or other magnates of the upper class from 1890 to 1910. For the last 17 years the homes in the area have been restored one by one. Personally I've done 4 of them. It's also a very tight-knit community, where they welcome renters and homeowners alike.
What makes this property unique
Just look at it ;) You literally won't find anything like it in the city, with everything it has to offer
