Wonderful River Retreat

If you want to get away from it all for a bit, to sit by the river, to listen to it whisper you to sleep, to have it nuzzle you awake, you are in the right place. Enjoy all the comfort of home (small kitchen, furniture, television, bed, running water) with the rustic idealism of camping. Fantastic! We will be back.

Relaxing

We absolutely loved our stay at the yurt! It was so private, quiet, and peaceful while being close enough to town that we could visit for a late lunch/early dinner. It had everything we needed. Marcy is an amazing host, and promptly answered every message! We look forward to returning in the fall (and hopefully earlier!)!

Spring Fishing Trip

Place was amazing. I go up there every year to fly fish and found this property on VRBO. It exceeded my expectations in every way. Plus the fishing was great for native brook trout right out the back door. Owner provided everything you needed plus more. Bed was very comfortable after fishing every day for 12 hours straight. It will be my go to place from here on out.

Little slice of heaven

My family of four had such an amazing stay! Hikes in the morning to the sound of babbling creeks (dry river isn’t actually dry). The quaint yurt had all the provisions you could need to stay comfortably and there was a little magical feeling to it. I would still be there now if we didn’t have to get back to reality. Definitely recommend this place and would go back in a heartbeat!

Great natural setting.

This Yurt is great. Modern bath and kitchen. Comfortable bed. The view from the deck was as advertised. The pool in the river was very serene and way more private than expected and the water refreshing after a hot day. The host was very responsive to general questions. If you are driving from WVa on highway 33 you might write down the directions since GPS is spotting as you approach from the WVa mountains.

Nice spot on the river

Property was well-equipped, clean, warm, and generally nicer that I expected. Hinton is not much, but there’s plenty of walking, fishing, and exploring to be done around the property. It is not very isolated as there is some road noise and many other cabins and homes in the immediate area. The larger of the two streams holds native brook trout, which was a pleasant surprise. The scenery is beautiful, especially the clarity of the stars at night. Very nice experience.

About the host

Hosted by Marcy Beck

Host profile image
I was lucky enough to find this beautiful property and I am grateful to share it with all of you! When I was building the yurt it was plain to see it was a very special place. Nature is an important part of staying balanced and happy in life, especially with the busy lives we all live!

Why they chose this property

The yurt sits on 1.5 acres of land which it shares with a small cabin in the far corner of the property. We built the yurt right at the point were Dry River and Gum Run meet, with your own balcony to enjoy the view. We have a trail right out front that leads to a secluded swimming hole, The Blue Hole about 1/4 mile upriver. The yurt is air conditioned and heated to keep you comfortable in every season. We provide wood for the fire pit and plenty of shade tree to relax under. The yurt and our few neighbors are surrounded by George Washington National Park. Up the mountain passing another swimming hole called The Bathtub is a trail going 20 miles into the park.

What makes this property unique

Staying in a yurt is a unique adventure, add the river at your front door it is truly a peaceful relaxing break from our every day hustle and bustle.
