About this property

Renovated Farmhouse Close to Sebago Lake

Family memories await in this oversized, renovated farmhouse just 1 lot away from Sebago Lake. With 5 bedrooms, there is plenty of space for a large family, a multi-family gathering or a fun couple's retreat. Spend your days on the lake & your evenings relaxing around the oversized fire pit in the backyard. Or if the mood hits, enjoy making a gourmet dinner in the well-appointed kitchen with new appliances. Lovingly named The Blueberry House - follow along with us @theblueberryhousemaine

Enjoy a worry-free experience while vacationing with small children close to the lake, but not on it - the house has been designed with families in mind and there are pockets of space scattered throughout for each age group. The playroom is for littles - toddlers through elementary-age; for teens, there are plenty of books, boardgames, cards & even a PS4 in the downstairs spare bedroom. There is a large yard outside with a deck (including a propane grill), a fire pit circle patio, hammock & games to enjoy: cornhole, kan jam, xtra large jenga, etc. (pretty views of the lake from the yard!). And plenty of beach chairs, towels & sand toys for your days at Nason's Beach (3 min drive) or Sebago State Park (15 min drive)! And two kayaks are provided for your use during the summer months (June to Sept) to take to your desired nearby lake destination!

Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms (& 2 full baths), starting with the primary suite (TV) and then down a hall, it is followed by a room with 2 twin beds (TV), and then the child suite (a playroom that connects to the 'sleeping' room - aptly named because it is cloaked head to toe in a deep, soothing blue color - we find this helps our littles setter down faster...). Down an opposite hall is another room with a king bed (TV), perfect for a second couple, as it offers a nice amount of privacy.

Tucked away at the top of the stairs, there is a sitting area prime for reading, but we also have a chess/checker board set up here - so the game can be uninterrupted and also paused if the lake calls...

Downstairs, there is a family room with a woodstove, an oversized couch and three additional chairs & another mounted TV for family movie nights - this room leads out onto the deck. Behind this room is the dining room that is the hub of the first floor - it has beautiful lighting, connects to all of the other rooms, including the totally new gourmet kitchen. The round dining table easily seats eight, & is the perfect place for a long monopoly game and pancake breakfast. The game room/guest room (TV) also connects to the dining room.

We recommend a day trip to the Naples Causeway (15 min) for shopping and excellent dining options (our favorite is Dose for coffee & the Freedom Cafe for lakeside dining!). And Long Lake Marina is right next door - our pick for the easiest boat rental in the area for families.

Nason's Beach (3 min down the road) is one of the prettiest beaches on Sebago & has bathrooms, a general store, restaurant & a boat ramp.

And once you've had enough of the lake (is that even possible!?) - our kids love Seacoast Adventures in Windham for mini-golf, go-karts & a waterpark.

For evening adventures - we love to go to the Bridgton Twin Drive-in (about 30 min), or catch a play at the Schoolhouse Arts Center in Standish (15 min).

Lastly, our family loves to head to Crabtree's for pick-you-own blueberries and then make blueberry pancakes the next morning!

In the winter enjoy a classic Maine wood stove (that guests can use). Ski at Shawnee Peak (Formerly Pleasant Mountain) just 30 minutes away or Sunday Mountain (55 minutes away). Come make memories for a lifetime!

Was my first time in Maine. Had a great time. Great location. Friendly people. The owners did a great job with the remodeling of the house.

Perfect!

We stayed here with 4 adults and 3 kids (11-15), and it was perfect! The house is beautifully renovated, with modern conveniences and fixtures while still maintaining the charm of an old farmhouse. There was plenty of room for everyone. The hosts have thought of just about everything and even provide many kitchen and toiletry basics to help make your stay go smoothly. It is a perfect house for families, as it has a variety of sleeping arrangements (twins, bunk bed with trundle, pull-out queen, two kings), lots of seating and gathering areas, a collection of board games, and even a playroom for littles. Highly recommend a stay at the Blueberry House!

About the host

Host profile image
We live on Cape Cod with our family of 7 - we have always had a difficult time finding a property to fit the age ranges of our children (16 years between the youngest and oldest!) - so we decided to create one to share with other families who might face some of the same challenges! As a mother of 5, I love reading a good book in a quiet space, and my husband's favorite spot is out by the fire pit in the backyard while the kids play lawn games.

Why they chose this property

The Sebago Lake Region has so much to offer to so many different age groups and also interests... whether you prefer relaxing at the Lake, or jetskiing, or hiking - or even lounging in a beautifully decorated space - this area and our home is the perfect fit.

What makes this property unique

Our home offers spaces that have been thoughtfully created to interest a variety of age groups, and also entertain multiple family gatherings - with private spaces for multiple couples as well. The primary bedroom has an oversized bathroom that is attached with a luxurious soaking tub that has seasonal views of the lake. And the fully renovated kitchen with all new gourmet appliances makes for the perfect lazy vacation mornings around the large kitchen island.
