I’ve stayed in a lot of vacation house through the years and this was hands down the absolutely cleanest one I’ve ever seen! A clean house makes everything so much better! Check in was a little more hands on than I’m used to with having to call to have the alarm disabled. Also, the kitchen cookware was really sparse. There was only one small pot and a couple of frying pans and not much in the way of cooking utensils. But overall it was a great place and sooooo clean.
Hosts Helen and Burt are wonderful, helpful and went out of their way to make our trip great. Their thoughtfulness and willingness to help with anything were greatly appreciated! Our daughter had a wonderful and memorable 18th birthday staying at the "cowboy cabin." The easy drive up to Dodge Ridge made staying down below the snow level and in town with plenty of amenities nearby work just about perfectly. Clean and comfortable accommodations, though no hot tub that we planned on based on the listing. Still the house and hosts were what made the stay so great. We would definitely stay again.
Pretty cozy stay, over all. I would recommend this cabin/house to others. :-)Pros:-Clean-Owners are friendly-Not too far from Twain Harte Market and 'downtown' Twain Harte (if you walk, cut through the back/soccer field of TH Elementary)Cons:-Driveway is a steep hill, so I wonder if it might be challenging to drive back up during a heavy snow storm-House is kind of dark (both day and night) and mostly lit by lamps, which aren't as bright as overhead lights would be. Kitchen is bright though. :-)-Laundry/linens are washed in heavy fragrant laundry soap. Also, all other soaps in house are also pretty fragrant. This probably won't be an issue for most other folks, but our family is just more sensitive to them. We actually picked this place because it says "NO pets allowed". We liked that because my son has many different allergies. I stripped the bedding for him (because of fragrance) and we used his sleeping bag. He didn't seem to experience any irritation, etc, so that was great! :-)*I might consider staying here again in summer sometime
