Fantastic cabin, great location

Quiet cabin with all the amenities. Very clean, excellent communication with the owner, who was very helpful with local history and recommendations. We loved easy access to the North Fork area and the Apgar entrance to Glacier NP. Highly recommended for couples or families.

Perfect location

Communication was fantastic. Dave came by to make sure we didn't need anything, and we felt very taken care of. The fire pit/grilling/recycling area is a great amenity. It was the perfect jumping off point for all of our wilderness adventures in Glacier national park.

Bears and mountains

The cabin was perfect! The location made it easy to access Glacier Park and Flathead National Forest, as well as Whitefish. We took a day trip south along Flathead Lake to the Bison Range, with lots of animals and wildflowers. We went across Logan Pass, of course, took a boat ride on Lake McDonald, saw lots of big horn sheep. We also went east and north to Browning to the Museum of the Plains Indians. Being at the cabin made all this possible as well as having the family time I had hoped for in such a pleasant environment. The details and amenities were so welcoming.

Awesome Cabin close to Glacier!

This is a great cabin located in a quiet area away from the highway, but a short drive to West Entrance at Glacier. It’s a nice small collection of a few cabins. Ours was awesome. Two bedrooms, comfortable beds, very clean & well stocked kitchen. Wish we had more then one night there. Would definitely stay at again.

Very pleased!

Such a cute and quaint area for part of our stay at the park. It was close enough to things If we needed, but far enough we felt like we were getting a true “wilderness” feel. We had long days and it was a nice place to come back and relax in. The cabins were very clean and cozy and the owner was very friendly to communicate with. I would highly reccomend staying at the reclusive moose! It truly is a whole vibe :)

Loved our stay in the Trout Cabin!

My husband and I loved our stay in the Trout Cabin. Very comfortable and adorable!! The kitchen was so nice and perfect so we could still cook some meals. We met Ryan who was very friendly. We loved the location as it’s quiet, close to river, and 10-minute drive from West Glacier entrance. Make sure to dine at Three Forks Restaurant in downtown Columbia Falls. It’s farm to table and the most amazing pork chop I ever had!! The food is special and delicious!

Fantastic !

What a fantastic place to stay! The setting is lovely and well cared for and the cabins are perfection. Very clean and comfortable with every thing you could ever need. We had a BBQ each night which was a lovely break from eating out. The BBQ area is sunny and well set up. We arrived as a group of 7 and booked two cabins... I was seriously worried that we would leave as a group of 6 as Mum said several times she could stay here forever very happily!

Fantastic! Highly recommend! Clean!

We have stayed alot of places and this is by far one of the best! Owners Ryan and Christie do a fantastic job! They have exceptionally Clean cabins, great attention to detail, very friendly, helpful with suggestions and supplied us with way more then we expected! It's away from town and not too far from Glacier. Highly recommend! They are doing it right! It was a great get away! We loved it and hope to return someday!

Wonderful Glacier Country Retreat

The Reclusive Moose cabins are cozy, comfortable, and absolutely wonderful in every way! Located in a beautiful, peaceful setting only minutes from Glacier N. P., the cabins offer a perfect retreat for those wanting to relax and explore the area. Christie and Ryan have lovingly attended to every detail from the well stocked kitchen, to immaculate cleanliness, to beautifully maintained grounds. It's rare to find this level of "perfection" in a vacation rental, but the Reclusive Moose is certainly in the top 1%. - Can't wait to go back for another stay!

Amazing Cabin, Amazing Stay

My girlfriend, some friends and I had the pleasure of spending four nights and three days at one of the 2 BR/1 Loft Reclusive Moose Cabins, owned by Ryan and Christie Dunn. Our experience at the cabin could not have been better! Our excitement began when we first laid eyes on the “Elk” cabin. The open front porch is adorned with comfortable sofa benches and tables which we used to enjoy dinner on the cool Montana nights. It only took one step into the cabin before we were wowed. The craftsmanship and build quality was top notch, the lighting was warm and welcoming, and the décor was tasteful and on point; themed appropriately to the Glacier NP wilderness so close by. While I wouldn’t describe the Elk cabin as huge, it’s not tiny either. It was perfectly comfortable for four adults and we never felt on top of one another. The beds were comfortable, it was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was well appointed with all the cooking supplies you'd need. We were impressed with the little things too like there being an electrical outlet on each of the four walls in our bedroom which made plugging in our devices nice and easy. It's always nice to not have to unplug a lamp or alarm clock to snag a free outlet! Ryan and Christie also had a binder in the L/R complete with local restaurant menus, wifi and departure instructions, and other helpful information. We enjoyed the grill area, which is shared between the four cabins and only 20 steps or so from the cabin’s doorstep. We did some grilling and had dinner at the picnic table. Recycling was easy as there is a bin separated by glass, plastic, and aluminum right there. We also took a couple of the bikes Ryan and Christie make available to guests for a ride down the road. We chose the old-school bikes, the ones you need to pedal backwards in order to break, and had fun riding them. A housekeeper came by once or twice during our stay and provided fresh towels and toilet paper which was appreciated. We mostly communicated with Ryan while we were there and he was great; very cordial, helpful, and prompt with his responses. He recommended some cool hikes we want to do next time we visit GNP. When we were planning our trip, we knew we wanted a comfortable home base right outside the park entrance, a place where we could relax after a long day of hiking…we found that and more at this place. Next time we come back to GNP we're booking at the Reclusive Moose!

About the host

Host profile image
We have worked in all aspects of the hospitality business. We are delighted to offer our guest a new cabin in the Glacier National Park area. We have lived in the area for 20 years. We are glad to share this beautiful place and assist our guests with as much information for a wonderful time in Glacier.

Why they chose this property

We came to Montana to work & vacation in Glacier National Park for the summer. We fell in love with the area & wanted to live as close to Glacier as we could. We found a small log cabin that we made our own (Glacier View Chalet). With many years in Hospitality business working and managing properties inside and outside the park, we decided to venture out and build four Reclusive Moose Cabins on the property. We love to share our love of the park to our guests and a comfortable place to call home when here.

What makes this property unique

From these beautiful 3 acres, we are always amazed at all the wildlife, from the Reclusive Moose, black bears, coyotes, deer & wolves. We also have many colorful birds for all those birdwatchers. This location is convenient to the west entrance of the park, airport & town for groceries and dining. Activities are endless from hiking, biking, fishing and rafting. Our favorite part of our property is the ability to enjoy the convenience of GNP and yet escape the crowds at the end of the day in your own private Montana Cabin.
