Everything is just as pictured, and I think one of the best choices in the Cabanas on price, cleanliness and modern ammenities. 4th floor, with elevator, barbecue, on-site laundry, and everything you need to enjoy the Turtle Cove beach below. The unit contains beach chairs, an umbrella, some snorkel gear (the snorkeling isn't bad right in the cove) and beach towels. The kitchen's fully stocked and just as pictured, seems to have been recently updated. In fact, everything is just as pictured. Everything in the unit overall was clean, stocked and ready to go, even though we were a couple of hours early getting there.
My wife and I were looking to stay away from the crowded vacation-factory experience in Waikiki, so we opted for the more local experience in Makaha. We ate better and more reasonably by cooking most of our meals at our home away from home.
There are plenty of supermarkets close-by if you have a car, which is necessary in Hawaii, though there is a bus if you have loads of time to spend. Still, we were able to get to Hanauma Bay, the North Shore and Kai Lua on the East side, all within about an hour. We got to see whales, swim with a sea turtle and a monk seal joined us for a full day's rest on the beach!
And from the start, Wayne was responsive and clear, in taking our reservation deposit, sending a basic contract, and finally detailed instructions on how to get in as well as how to check out. He even followed up regarding the deposit without a word from us. Nice.
We got lucky all around this trip; the flight went as scheduled, the rental car reserved as promised, the one night reservation in Waikiki, and finally the trouble-free, and welcoming stay in Wayne's unit in the Makaha Beach Cabanas. I could only hope he'll trade us some day for a stay in CA wine country!
