BRAND NEW! The family friendly Sunny Mountain Sanctuary sports great mountain views & wildlife everywhere (21-ZONE3041). 5 mins to Rocky Mountain National Park, less than 1 to fishing, Marys Lake, a local grocer & the best restaurant in Estes. Stylish decor, a fun kid's play room complete the package!
+ Dogs OK (1 dog max, 35lbs, must be added to reservation $125 non refundable fee)
+ 3 bedrooms (K, Q, and Q w/ a bunkbed)
+ Patio with BBQ
+ Fireplace
Family-friendly, 8 guest max
Boring stuff -- the house rules!
+ No check-ins earlier than 4 or checkouts later than 10. We just can't pull it off since cleaners have no idea what condition their other units were left in.
+ No smoking inside or out; no wood-burning fire pits; no parties; no pets.
+ Charcoal grills are banned in Estes but our gas grill is allowed.
+ 3 cars & 8 guests max.
+ Guests must load/start dishwasher and start a laundry load of towels/hand towels/washcloths at checkout. This keeps our cleaning fee lower than most other homes because it saves the cleaners a whole wash cycle's worth of time.
+ This is a townhome so you will have neighbors. Please be mindful of noise!
ONWARD!
Thanks for checking out my family's Sunny Mountain Sanctuary townhome, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. We fell in love with this place because of its proximity to endless outdoor recreation and great mountain views.
Here are a few things that are literally a minute away:
- An elk or deer feasting on native grasses, or the famous Marys Lake Road Herd of Wild Turkeys
- Marys Lake, where you can fish or even sit on a beach!
- The Bird's Nest, with incredible coffee and wood fired pizzas.
- The best cocktails, wine and food at the famous Bird and Jim, one of the best restaurants in northern Colorado.
- My favorite sandwiches to pack into the National Park at The Country Supermarket
Drive four or five more minutes and you'll get to the Rocky Mountain National Park Visitor Center, the Beaver Meadows Entry Station, and even downtown Estes Park.
If you choose to relax at home, cozy up in front of the fireplace when it's cold, or pop out on the patio for the BBQ when it's warm. Enjoy a movie night on the huge TV, cook up a storm in the fully stocked kitchen, and let the kids have fun in the upstairs playroom.

While we won't have the chance to meet you in person, fear not! The Wolf Rentals has an incredible team ready to assist you with your reservation. These folks are top-notch, a bunch of seasoned locals who know every nook and cranny of Estes like it's their own backyard.
Sunny Mountain Sanctuary sits nestled in a cozy residential neighborhood between Giant Track Mountain and the Prospect Mountain Open Space. Believe it or not, Giant Track is actually part of Rocky Mountain National Park, adding an extra dash of natural splendor to our surroundings. As for Prospect Mountain, it's a huge open space (part of it is a city park) teeming with animals.
That means you're smack in the middle of a wildlife corridor that's forever bustling with all sorts of amazing creatures. Elk, deer, wild turkey, majestic birds of prey, cunning coyotes, elusive bobcats, and plenty of other critters call this place their home sweet home.
If you're up for some fishing fun, just a few minutes up the road is Marys Lake, a fantastic spot to cast your line and reel in some tranquility. And when your stomach starts growling, fear not! Just a quick jaunt down the road, you'll find an awesome local supermarket that's stocked with goodies. The pièce de résistance of Estes dining experiences, the renowned Bird and Jim restaurant, is adjacent.
The cherry on top is our proximity to the entry station of Rocky Mountain National Park. It's just five short minutes!
During the summer, there's this awesome free shuttle bus that cruises all around Estes Park and even takes you into the National Park. If you want to catch the bus, just head over to Stop 3 (Manor RV Park) or Stop 4 (National Park Village, where you'll find the Country Supermarket nearby). They're both about 15 minutes by foot, or a minute by car.
NO SMOKING, NO FIRES
My home was about a mile away from one of the largest forest fires in Colorado history a few years ago, so we are a strict no-smoking property. No smoking inside, outside, and no outdoor fire pits (now illegal in Estes Park's vacation homes). Charcoal BBQs are banned; gas ones like ours are allowed.
ROAD CONDITIONS
Estes has a great plow team and our driveway will also be plowed during storms, but if there's a huge blizzard, they may not be plowed exactly when you need them to be. We cannot assist if you get stuck and we always recommend that people rent AWD or 4WD when visiting us from October to May. We are at 8,000 feet and this can be a snowy area!
NONPAYING GUESTS
Insurance forbids nonpaying/non-registered guests on the property.
AIR CONDITIONER
Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. Thankfully mountain air blows down from the high peaks and will cool down the place quickly in the evenings if you open the windows and turn on the fans.
BEARS
Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area often and can break in!
MINUT
We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located on the ceiling of the hallway leading into the living room.
+ No parties, loud noises, unregistered guests
+ Quiet hours from 9pm to 8am.
+ You're renting a townhome with a shared wall; you may have neighbors
+ No smoking
+ Wood burning fire pits and charcoal grills are illegal in Estes vacation homes due to high fire danger. Our gas grill is allowed.
+ Self check in after 4pm and check out before 10am, no exceptions
+ Guests agree to start dishes in dishwasher and a load of towels, hand towels and dish rags in the washer.
