The Holston River Lodge is a magical mountain riverfront retreat. Nestled on a beautiful stretch of the South Holston River with over 2 acres of land and yards of riverfrontage. This is the ultimate outdoor playground, seamlessly blending relaxation and adventure. The fishing is world-class and the swimming, tubing, and kayaking are loads of fun too. After a day full of adventure unwind in our hot tub overlooking the river or get cozy in front of one of our two beautiful stone fireplaces, one on the main level living room with a 75-inch TV and another in the basement den with a 70-inch TV.
With beautiful architecture and details designed to create the perfect retreat for you and your guests. This property was constructed in 2016 by a Virginia builder that is known for quality and detail using local logs and stone. You will enjoy every square inch of the craftsmanship throughout this house.
Discover surrounding experiences such as the Virginia Creeper Trail, Zip Lining, Back Of The Dragon, and Hungry Mother State Park, or enjoy quaint shops, The Bristol Motor Speedway, The Hard Rock Casino in Bristol, and a selection of restaurants wineries, breweries, and distilleries.
River Access is available to all guests. The depth ranges from inches to 10 feet along the length of the river. A dip in the cool, clean water is highly encouraged and a great source of recreation. Enjoy great fishing in the South Holston for trout, smallmouth bass, carp, and brim. Caution should always be paramount while swimming or wading in the Holston River at any time of year. Currents may be stronger and depths may change without warning due to rain or snow melt throughout all seasons.

Lovely stay on the river

Beautifully set-up home with lots of thoughtful touches. Most of our time was spent outdoors enjoying the river, hot tub, and the other outdoor amenities. Great for kids as the river is slow enough in parts for wading while also supporting adults in kayaks. Inside was well set-up for families with convenient sleeping arrangements for all. Would definitely return to this riverfront gem!

Beautiful and relaxing getaway

I took my elderly mother and niece to SW VA for a wedding weekend. Everyone loved the house, the backyard, and the quiet neighborhood. The owners did a great job thinking about extra touches such as kleenex, nightlights, etc. The house and property were amazing. And after I realized I had forgotten shampoo and shower soap, Wal-Mart was conveniently only 20 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again.

Great long weekend!

We came to Virginia from Michigan for our friend to visit with family she hadn’t seen in 12 years they live on Vetrans hwy. this was about as close as we could get a rental. It was wonderful. Had every amenity. Very clean. Well decorated and not broken down like some rentals. Hot tub was lovely. We fished and cooked breakfast but didn’t have enough time to do everything the lodge had to offer. You could easily stay for one or two weeks and stay busy! Our only suggestion would be to provide oil for the cast iron pans and have less puffy pillow options. Other than that, beds were comfortable. Thank you!!

Relaxing home with everything you need

This house was a great find! Stayed here over Spring Break for a few days and they really did have everything you need to relax by the river. The house was clean, comfy and well stocked. The location is convenient to downtown Marion and Emory and easy to find off of 81. The highlight of the house though is the outdoor space. The yard is large with plenty of space to run and toss a football. We easily took the family out in the canoe/kayaks, loved the hammock, fire pit, hot tub frisbee and more! Great getaway to unplug and visit nearby hiking trails or just to stay by the river and enjoy all the house has to offer!

Wonderful home and setting!

This super well equipped river front home with a cool log framed design was a perfect setting for my husband and I to host our far flung family of 3 adult kids and their SO's. We appreciated the overall cleanliness of the cabin, the new king size mattress in the master and the up to date kitchen with plentiful new kitchenware and service for a large number of guests. We came together to celebrate the holidays for a few precious days and were so delighted to find a decorated home complete with Christmas tree and welcome gift for toasting the new year. We are an outdoorsy family and really enjoyed all the nearby parks and hiking trails. In addition, a show at the Lincoln Theater a few minutes away and a tour at the Buller Fish Hatchery to learn about endangered species were highlights! All in all we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while making use of the yard toys, kayaks, fishing, games and puzzles thoughtfully included. We highly recommend!

Best Christmas EVER!! My family and I have a tradition of staying at a cabin for Christmas and choosing to stay at Matt’s and Jess property was the best decision we made when choosing our stay. The hosts truly went above and beyond, from providing a property where memories can be made such as being able to kayak and enjoy the jacuzzi with a beautiful view to adding christmas decor as we requested, I have nothing but great things to say. Check in was easy, hosts were responsive, hygiene was 10’s across the board and the fun was endless - definitely a stay to remember :)

River House

The River House and property is beautiful! So peaceful and relaxing! There is so much to do trout fishing, canoeing games galore and a hot tub to enjoy! Matt is an excellent host! He was answered our questions immediately and was so helpful and friendly! We enjoyed our stay and hoe to return one day!

Holston River Lodge

We had a wonderful stay at Holston River Lodge. The property is beautiful. If you are into fishing, swimming, yard games, sitting by a campfire, tubing, then this the place for you. The hot tub was a plus. Highly recommend.

Great spot for a quiet getaway.

We stopped here for a couple of nights to break up a long road trip. It was a perfect spot - beautiful property, nearby activities (state park), and the small town of Marion had everything you would need for shopping/restaurants/etc. The area is very picturesque, even in the dead of winter. Great for hikes or a walk in the wilderness. The home has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a great hot tub - perfect on a winter’s night.

Thanksgiving with family

This was a perfect place to get together for Thanksgiving weekend with out of town family. Our Mother wasn't able to take a very long trip ,so this was a perfect solution. She enjoyed spending time with her three children and the grandchildren . Great location !!!

Nice location BUT....

The location is beautiful along the river, and the house is impressive but there are a few issues that need to be addressed. First...The roof leaks and there is mold on the ceiling in the master bedroom and bathroom. It also leaks beside the fireplace in the living room. Second...when we arrived, there were dead flies everywhere. Not sure why there were so many but I don't think the house was checked prior to our arrival. Third...there is no where to put food in the kitchen, you just have to leave dry goods in a box beside the island. The oven was dirty, and one of the rings on the stove top didn't work. Some of the pots and pans were in the cabinet dirty, and some were in bad shape. The outside grill needs cleaning because it was smoking like crazy. The house has a lot of potential and we a little TLC I think it will be amazing.

Wonderful retreat!

We had a wonderful time. Beautiful home and fabulous views! The river is beyond words! Clear, cold water. Full of fish you can see from the bank! I paddled with the kayaks on the property. It is set in the country, but close enough to towns if you forget something! Great bbq in Chilhowie, can’t miss downtown shops in Marion, and Highlands distillery whiskey tasting! We will definitely visit again.

Creeper Trail Fall Getaway!

The property was perfect for our fall weekend away to the mountains wanting to relax in a quiet area and enjoy biking the Creeper Trail. The house is beautiful and on the most picturesque piece of property on the river have a full outdoor experience. Our family and friends had an amazing time! The host was great and quick to respond to any questions we had.

We loved the beautiful house and it’s location. It was just right for us. It’s a great vacation spot even if you never leave the property. The surrounding area is great too. So much to see! I would love to go back.

Cousin Fun

We live very close to this property but was looking for an experience for the young cousins in our family. We sure found the perfect experience. We had so much fun and the property has so much to offer for all ages. They spent hours fishing and caught all different types of fish. I heard them all say several times that they loved the house and didn't want to leave. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

Country Haven

An unusual log home in a lovely location. Owner was wonderfully responsive. All the necessities -- I can't think of anything we needed that wasn't provided -- and even some luxuries (HVAC, two gas fireplaces, a hot tub). A great place for R&R after chasing wily (sometimes downright elusive) trout all day. By the way, the house is on the Middle Fork of the Holston, which is not what the listing says.

My wife and I love traveling and we have stayed in many VRBO properties. After all the experiences we had at these other VRBOs, we decided to do it ourselves and we purchased the Holston River Lodge. We also love meeting new people and hearing their stories. We're so excited to share our beautiful lodge with you!

It is truly the best of both worlds! The beautiful cabin is quiet and relaxing with amazing access to the river. Then travel a small distance to town where you can enjoy dinner out. There is so much to do nearby, the Virginia Creeper Trail, Hungry Mother State Park, Wineries, Breweries... whether you want a peaceful getaway or a weekend full of fun and adventure you can enjoy both at the Holston River Lodge.

What makes this property unique

The Lodge is truly unique, custom-made with huge beams, and beautiful views! It's the best of both worlds as it is close to restaurants where you can enjoy a nice dinner out and then return back to our tranquil lodge to enjoy the hot tub overlooking the river.
