About this property
Glen Lake - Spectacular Dune Views & Complete Privacy!
The 'Beach House' on Little Glen Lake was built in the early 20's as part of the old 'Oasis Resort', one of the early resorts that used to operate around the lake. Originally a boathouse, It was converted to a cottage sometime in the late 30's. In 1996 we completely gutted the original building and rebuilt it as a private guest cottage. Surrounded by extensive decks and a shaded private outdoor dining area the cottage sits on a very private setting on the north shore of Little Glen Lake with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and fabulous sunsets.
The water is crystal clear with a sandy bottom and is excellent for swimming and is especially nice for small children as it is shallow for over 100' out. You have your own private dock, and a dedicated mooring is available should you bring your own boat.
The south facing deck in front of the cottage has both chaise lounges and adirondack chairs and is perfect for reading, getting a tan or enjoying a beverage. A canoe and 2 kayaks are available for your use. After dark enjoy a fire and smores in your own private firepit.
Be aware that there is a stairway which you must negotiate to reach the cottage - not steep, 22 steps with several landings. Not appropriate for wheelchairs or walkers.

Cute cottage directly on Glen Lake with all the amenities you need. Bob and Joan are very welcoming and helpful. Ideally located in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. Hope we can return some day.
We really enjoyed our stay on Little Glen- right on the water which is a very unique, cool experience! Our family of 4 was so comfortable in the cottage which was cozy, private and clean. Central location to all things in Glen Arbor and beautiful sunsets!
The location which was right in the water, the hosts who were tremendous and the cottage which was in great condition equaled a great week and I plan to be back.
My husband and I had a spectacular week staying at Joan and Bob’s lovely cottage. The location, the view, the comfort provided were all first rate. Many times we enjoyed just staying put and cooking our meals in the well equipped kitchen. The side patios lended lovely intimate spaces to enjoy our meals. We look forward to returning to this cozy spot next year!
A wonderful, beautiful ,authentic experience. One steps back in time as this property has been restored from original times. Warm inviting hosts. Great to visit with as well as their adorable dog Curly. Feel as though we are visiting family

Gorgeous - dosen't get any better
Bob and Joan, the kind & gracious owners have a lovely estate on Little Glen that provides a Family Compound experience and lacks nothing. The beautiful waters, view of Sleeping Bear Dunes and the lovely cottage has everything one needs to live the cottage life in pure Michigan. Same time next year! Grateful for a place where each of us found the best of ourselves and had the opportunity to marinate in such beauty.
We loved our stay on Little Glen lake! The cottage was homey but not cluttered and it felt very clean. It felt very private and relaxed. It was a great location for access to Sleeping Bear Dunes as well. The deck was great for morning coffee and evening drinks. Lots of avian wildlife to observe, we saw many birds including a bald eagle right above the deck. The host had great suggestions for beaches, trails, and restaurants. They are also very responsive and quickly address and resolve any problems.
It had everything we needed and we especially loved the available kayaks and paddle board, and fire pit with wood included! Thank you so much for a great stay.

Beautiful!
We have been coming to the Glen Arbor area for many years for vacations. The Hawleys are a very nice couple and own a beautiful property. The cottage is very nice. We just felt that when you are told there is air conditioning, there should be air conditioning. It was warm and humid during our stay, and it got really warm in the cottage. Also, when you are paying $400+ per night, you shouldn’t have to walk through chicken droppings to get to the cottage and deal with ants on the kitchen counters. The Glens are truly gorgeous, and we will definitely be back to visit them again!
A hideaway in the center of an adventurer's paradise!
The clear waters of Little Glen Lake lap on the sandy shore just steps away from this sweet cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped and the living room is cozy and inviting. Just outside the picture windows are the sparkling lake waters. It's so quiet and hidden from houses and roads that you forget -- for a while -- you are a short drive from hillside hikes, easy kayak floats, breathtaking overlooks, vineyards and wineries, apple orchards, roadside produce stands; or quaint shops and casual restaurants. Return to the cabin at sunset, pour some of that Michigan wine from the day's outing, relax on the deck of your retreat at the water's edge and know THIS is a perfect place to relax, refuel and recharge for your next adventure!
The property was phenomenal. Quaint, clean, beautiful views of lake and dunes, wonderful sunsets. Bob and Joan were awesome hosts, made us feel at home instantly!!! We had a wonderful week. Thanks so very much. We will be returning!!!
Bob and Joan were wonderful hosts!! They were delightful to talk to and their dog was adorable! The rental was very clean, comfortable, and felt like home. We were able to watch the gorgeous sunsets from the deck while enjoying a glass of wine. Although the weather was less than ideal, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning next year. Our family has been vacationing at Glen Lake for the past 17 years, but this was our first time renting Bob and Joan's "slice of heaven". Thank you so much for an enjoyable stay.
Thank you Bob and Joan. We had an amazing time at your beautiful cottage and made memories to last a lifetime! The property was absolutely perfect for our family! We loved being right on the water, Glen Arbor is such a cute town and it was only a 30 minute drive to some of our favorite surrounding cities. Thank you again!
We had a wonderful week at Glen Lake.
The beautiful boathouse is comfortable, cozy and clean. The views are spectacular!
Bob and Joan are great hosts, very accommodating.
Curly and Quacker added to the fun!
We hope to return soon!
We loved our stay at this sweet cottage on the shore of little Glen Lake. The location is perfect, the beds are comfy, the views are beautiful! Little Glen lake is the perfect shallow depth for our toddler grandchildren who visited us for the day. We hope to return again.
Our time at the boathouse was one of our most memorable in northern Michigan ever. The accommodations were so lovely, warm and inviting - everything we could possibly need was right there. The view from our deck was beautiful during the day and even more so at sunset. Bob and Joan were the most gracious and accommodating hosts. We hope to stay at the boathouse for years to come.
Glen Lake is absolutely amazing. Warm, clear waters and breathtaking sunsets over the sand dunes. Excellent accommodations with attentive and hospitable owners on site. Location near Glen Arbor is convenient with plenty to keep yourself busy, if you can tear yourself away from this lakefront!
Great place to stay on the water. Very cozy and quaint. Bob and Joan were great hosts and very kind, considerate, and helpful. Awesome cottage on Little Glen Lake!
A wonderful week on the beautiful lake...
Amazing sunsets...great kayaking...great nearby hiking paths...
Everything you need is there...
With open windows at night the lapping of the water lulls you to sleep...
Thank you for a great getaway...
This property and the owners are great! Bob and Joan and welcoming and truly just want you to have a good vacation. The property is lovely and great location to all surrounding areas. We will be back again!
We had a great time despite the weather, the sand dunes scenic drive was made even better by arriving on a no fee day! Apparently the park service has several of these a year. Our hosts were timely in their responses and Joan our host was very gracious. Word of warning, even though they state the property is not handicap accessible there is no mention of the stairs you must negotiate with your luggage, its a little bit of a work out. Overall its very well appointed and cozy.
