About this property
Forest cabin in the Kent countryside – pet friendly!
ABOUT
This rustic cabin in a serene woodland location makes a peaceful hideaway. It has comfy Eve mattresses, a bathroom, kitchen / diner and seating area.
It’s crafted from salvaged wood and fitted out with vintage finds.
Hike or bike the pine forest trails on the cabin’s doorstep, explore the local National Trusts (Sissinghurst, Scotney, Bateman’s etc) and the many other open gardens including Pashley Manor, or check out nearby Rye (ancient and full of charming independent shops). Head to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve for coastal walks – the rolling dunes at Camber Sands are glorious too.
THE SPACE
This rural bolthole has been stylishly converted using salvaged wood. Enter through the main door into the kitchen /dining / sitting room.
There is a microwave, dishwasher, gas hob, and fridge but no oven. There is a charcoal BBQ on the terrace outside.
The kitchen area includes a large dining table and tressle bench seating (it can double as a work station). In the living area there are two comfy armchairs to relax in, plus a foot stool, rug, lamp, cushions and side tables.
There are two cosy bedrooms on either side of the main living space, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds. The external shutters can be closed for even deeper silence and total blackout. Pillows and duvets are duck down, the bedding is cotton and linen; mattresses are by Eve.
The bathroom has a deep tank-style bath, a shower, toilet and sink with wood panelled walls and Terrazzo marble flooring. Towels are included.
Outside, the property has a secluded back garden which guests can enjoy. There is a table and chairs on the patio.
GUEST ACCESS
The cabin sits at the edge of a 14-acre plot which is surrounded by the forest.
The cabin is just across the back garden from the owners' house. The back garden sits between the main house and the cabin and is for the use of the guests.
OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE
This cabin is only suitable for a couple or a family with children aged 3-18.
Not suitable for group bookings.
Back garden for guests' use only.
I have 2 children so you may hear them occasionally.

LOCATION
The cabin is located in a pine forest in Kent's high weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It's a beautiful part of the countryside full of rolling hills, rambling hedgerows, woodland wilderness, wildflower meadows, apple and cherry orchards, pick your own fruit and veg (the asparagus, cherries and strawberries are amazing), vineyards, distilleries, fairytale castles, quaint villages, charming pubs and glorious walks.
There are antique shops to peruse and farm shops to plunder and there is good food to be had at Water Lane, Tillingham, Birchwood and The Smallholding. You can also paddle board along the idyllic river Rother (Bodiam boating station) and windsurf at Bewl Water; Go Ape at Bedgebury or hide out in the dunes at Camber.
Rye Harbour Nature Reserve provides a glorious coastal walk. None of this is more than about 20 minutes’ drive away from the cabin, and most of it is much closer than that. The forest of course, is right on the doorstep. There is so much to see and do here, it’s a really special part of the countryside. We hope you love your stay.
GETTING AROUND
Guests can park their car directly outside the Cabin.
Staplehurst and Headcorn mainline stations are about 12-15 minutes away by car, offering direct regular services into London Waterloo, London Bridge and Charing Cross.
The pretty villages of Cranbrook and Tenterden are approximately a 10-minute drive away and the nearest main town is Tunbridge Wells, about 35 minutes by car.
Bring your bikes – cycling in the forest and especially on the miles of special mountain bike trails at Bedgebury is So. Much. Fun.
Walk or hike the trails in the forest where the cabin is situated – just open the front door and step right into nature.
Otherwise hop in your car and explore the area – there is a huge amount to do and see. The driving scenery is breathtakingly beautiful, just beware ye olde Kentish pothole, of which there are a few too many.
