About this property

Pioneer Log Cabin on the Lake

Take a step back in time to a simpler way of life! Enjoy this log cabin that was originally built in the pioneer days. While the cabin retains the charm of the 1800's, it also has been updated with basic amenities like electricity, indoor plumbing, hot water, and everything you would expect from a modern cabin. Located on Cataract Lake, yards from a public boat launch, this is the perfect spot to get out onto the lake or just relax amongst the trees. Boat parking is provided on the property.

The space
The log cabin is situated on 3 acres of land. It can be slightly rugged in spots, so watch your step. The cabin consists of two main living spaces with a spacious entryway between. A bathroom and kitchen sit at the back of the cabin. Upstairs in the main bedroom on one side and a loft on the other side.

Guest access
You will have full access to the entire cabin, deck, and property. The spaces that are not available for guess use are the shed and detached garage.
Parking on the gravel only, please do not park in the grass.

Other things to note
The cabin is in the woods, so expect some dust, bugs and small animals in the area. The terrain around the cabin is natural, so watch your step around uneven grounds or on slight hills. Want to see more? Follow the cabin on Insta - pioneer.log.cabin

Wonderful weekend getaway
The cabin is beautiful. Just a short walk to the lake. Everything was very clean and nicely maintained. It made for a nice father/son weekend getaway.

Perfect hosts, charming cabin, lovely experience
We loved our 4-night stay in this charming log cabin. It provided all the comforts of home and more. We loved that it had four queen-sized beds. Linens were soft and fresh. The whole place was sparkling clean. Mounted signs helped us understand how to use things around the cabin like the tv remotes. The kitchen is well-equipped. There’s plenty to do to keep us busy during the day, and lots of books, games, and movies for rainy days. The WiFi helped us out a lot bc our phones didn’t have signal (not a bad thing for a getaway!) and we needed to look up directions to various local attractions. The cabin is full of character, and we felt privileged to stay here. It’s not every day you get to stay in a modernized cabin from the 1830s! We slept comfortably and enjoyed perfect weather. The whole experience was worth every penny. We highly recommend this host and this cabin. 10/10!!

Great second visit!
This is a sweet and funky cabin. Just wrapped up my second stay here. Enjoyed the porch immensely. Well shaded. Watched the birds and critters. Restful. Very comfy bed and linens.

Not your typical cabin in the woods!
The cabin was as clean as could be and lovely! It's a very unique stay with lots of sleeping options. It was just my wife and I so we didn't get to try out all the beds but enjoyed it. They even had a basket of toys out for the pups! It was so quiet and the first night it stormed, loved falling asleep to the sound of the rain!

Rustic cabin getaway
We comfortably slept 6 adults in the cabin. We had everything we needed and enjoyed sitting out on the deck. We didn’t have to leave the cabin but did enjoy driving to Cataract Falls and visiting the General Store. Had we needed anything a small store was close by. There were plenty of games to play if we wanted, as well. Overall, a nice getaway spot.

Getaway in the woods.
Some friends and I had a few days of activities in the area and needed a place to stay. This cabin was perfect for our needs! Everything we could have wanted was provided. Just show up with food, drinks and clothes. The view from the deck was great. The owner was incredibly prompt and accommodating.

A magical step into the past
What a magical place this old log cabin is! My wife and I and our two pups celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful time. The 170+ year old cabin, with its massive cut logs, makes you wonder what stories these walls could tell. The cabin has all of the modern amenities, LED lighting, a new kitchen, and lots of charm. The bed was comfortable, and the huge collection of classic DVDs was a nice surprise. The host was attentive and anticipated our every need (including our dog's :-). Best of all was the beautiful deck - we took most of our meals there, and enjoyed just hanging out with our dogs amongst the trees and the birds. There is no direct water access; you get a lake view if you hike to the bluff, and the boat launch beach is quite close. We brought our canoe and went for a long paddle up Cataract Lake. A wonderful stay!

Rustic, Cozy Cabin
So enjoyed my quiet retreat here! The deck area was great, very protected. Spent most of my time just reading and relaxing- watching the birds and squirrels. Even a little lizard …. The cabin is sweet and funky! Kitchen decently stocked. The downstairs bed was comfortable and the sheets of nice quality. Towels were as well. Great communication with Jenny, the host. Great spot- check it out!
