Double French doors open onto a lush lawn, gorgeous garden, sun-filled patio and expansive backyard. A late October haven

Visiting MDI a little later than we usually do in the fall, we were delighted that The Greenhouse could be our base of operation and haven. It is charmingly located in a meadow on the edge of the woods, with deer, turkeys, and other wildlife all around. The house itself is comfortable and fun, with everything that a visitor could need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the Scottis and their four-legged friend, Pip, and would recommend The Greenhouse to anyone visiting "the Quiet Side."

Acadia National Park visit

My husband and I were hiking in Acadia and were looking for a cute, quiet place to stay. This place was perfect. Elena had the sweetest gift basket waiting there to welcome us. She had a ton of great recommendations about the area that we used. The place had everything we could have needed. It was rainy while we were there so we did the two puzzles she had available which was very fun. There is also a cute patio area with chairs where I sat and read my book and enjoyed the sunshine. I would definitely stay here again.

Barn style retreat in Southwest Harbor

The Greenhouse is a spacious, sunny, two story building with an open floor plan downstairs (kitchen, dining area, living area) and two bedrooms/ bathroom upstairs. The larger sun filled bedroom is also a great place to hang out, with large windows, skylights, and comfortable furniture. As well, the outdoor patio and expansive yard, easily accessible through French doors, offer a great place to relax, play or grill your dinner. The kitchen cabinets are open (no doors) and make it easy to find all the well appointed cooking needs. The location is very quiet and private, yet very close to town. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed watching the many hummingbirds. When we were not out exploring all the area has to offer, we really enjoyed just hanging out here at the Greenhouse. We would definitely return here for another stay.

Great home ina great location

Great place to stay when visiting the ‘Quiet Side’ of Acadia National Park. Convenient to all hiking trails on this side of the Park. Nice outdoor space with beautiful gardens. House was comfortable and welcoming.

Wonderful stay

We have stayed in many VRBOs and this was by far our favorite. We went in August and I was concerned about no AC, odly we did not miss it at all. As a trained chef I was shocked with the kitchen supplies. I had everything I needed including various seasonings. The location was perfect, quiet and secluded area. The owners special details were also amazing. There was a book library in the shelves and I found a book to read during our stay. Lots of interesting boardgames too.

Wonderful getaway

Its amazing to arrive at your home away from home and discover it's even better than you expected. The beautiful yard and private location on the "quiet side" of the island are perfect when you want to escape the crowds.

Wonderful Family Stay!

We traveled from VA with our 2 kids and pup and stayed a week in this cozy and very well- equipped home. The garden is just beautiful and the location on the quiet side is private but also still very close to so many hikes and the little village of Southwest Harbor. We hope to be back!

Beautiful stay - home away from home

We stayed for a week, perfect home base to explore Acadia to our hearts content! We loved the Greenhouse, it was very clean and comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the thoughtful design of the space, we felt we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We packed food and supplies and cooked most meals (in well equipped kitchen) in our cozy house. We explored Acadia daily, most trails took approx 20ish minutes from the greenhouse. We enjoyed dinner at close by Beal’s and one night and Abel’s. We really loved picking up lobster meat and huge shrimp at Parson’s and made our own lobster rolls at home, eating in the dining area or the outdoor space ! We travelled with our two adults sons, bedrooms were comfortable, we managed with one bathroom. We noticed an extra rollaway twin and a small chaise in the primary bedroom- you could fit additional kids in the primary if you needed to. Overall experience was a comfortable stay, we would recommend the Greenhouse if you are planning to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor!

Great Stay!!

This place was perfect for the two of us, even though it had an extra bedroom with 2 twin beds. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals at home. Outdoor patio was great to enjoy a glass of wine after hiking all day! Great location on the quieter side of the island close to the center of the town of southwest harbor. Would stay here again for sure!!

Great launch point for a wonderful Acadia week

The Greenhouse is a great homebase for anyone spending a week in Acadia. Cute open concept thanks 4 min away from some great hikes- we loved our week in Ellen’s cabin on the quiet side of the park.

Perfect Quiet Side Getaway Cottage

Wonderful stay at the Greenhuose

The property was well maintained on a beautiful property. The host was a very nice lady whom we spoke with several times. The house was well equipped with everything you would need .There is a well equipped kitchen with many cooking condiments and plenty of linens and fresh towels .Also the owners dog Pip, who was very loving would mosey by occasionally which was quite nice, The house sits in a yard with flower beds and also has a lovely large patio and grill for you to use. The owner Elena also left a gift basket for us with coffee and different goodies for our stay. A definite 10 star rating if that was possible, Thank you Elena for sharing your property with us Bob and Peggy Repella.

Great week in well-equipped home

Property as described and better than the pictures. Kitchen was very well-equipped with pots and pans and glassware, along with oil and vinegars and spices. Outdoor gas grill and dining set-up were quite lovely, with quality furniture and a good umbrella for outdoor lunches. Great written resources on the island: a phenomenal trails book and trail map, among other things. The property was very clean, with plenty of towels and linens. Good supply of soap and cleaning implements, as well as a lovely welcome gift. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others who want to be on this beautiful part of the island.

Perfect week on MDI!

Perfect Getaway!

The Greenhouse is the perfect spot to stay and enjoy the quiet side of MDI. It is close to all the great hikes in Acadia National Park, the Park Loop Road, and if you must downtown Bar Harbor. But once you have finished exploring for the day, its the best place to come back to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens. The house was spotless and had everything we needed to feel at home. Our dog loved the spacious grassy grounds and the comfy bed provided just for him.

Comfortable stay on the quiet side!

We enjoyed our stay at the Greenhouse on the quiet side! It’s conveniently located if you’re looking to stay in Southwest Harbor and a great option for much of what Acadia has to offer. We enjoyed a stones throw from Echo Lake, Acadia Mountain and all of the food/shops in Southwest Harbor. Our pup and kids also loved staying here, too!

Peaceful Surroundings But Just a Short Walk To Town Center

This is a really nice house! It is comfortable, nicely decorated, and very clean. It's well supplied for your stay -- good kitchen equipment and plenty of towels. It feels secluded but is an easy walk to town center. And the wifi works like a charm at 100+ megabits!
