Short stay
Very nice setting. Close enough to nice historical part of town and beach, but separate and quiet.

Great Location for the Dunes National Park
Communication could be better, but the location and apartment were as advertised. Close to the national park, private, and well attended to. Ancillary charge dampened the stay, but still a great location to see the area and the natural beauty of the landscape.

Cute, Convenient, and Cozy
A great space near to beaches, national and state parks, and several nice towns in the area. The indoor space was cozy and there was a quiet outdoor patio as well. Near to everything but also felt away from it all while there.

Peaceful getaway
The property is surrounded by nature and woods. It was clean and well-stocked. The beach is a 4 minute drive away and the wind keeps it from getting too hot there. There are lots of hiking trails close by, too. The WiFi was fast enough for my buddy and I to both game separately (we are very particular about internet speed, so this was a must). The host was very friendly and communicative, responding quickly to my inquiries. Will book again.

Loved the Location. The Rental was cute and cozy however not very well maintained or clean. I had to reach out to host to get information on how to get into the property about 2 hours before we arrived as nothing was ever sent to us. Found Dirt socks in bedding which made us question how clean any linens/bedding were, and floors really needed to be cleaned, as there was popcorn kernels and hair throughout the living room. Multiple cobwebs throughout space. Found a jar of old weed and lighter in main closet. Bedroom doorknob was practically falling off as well as one of the kitchen cabinets. Don't get me wrong our stay was great just very disappointed with cleanliness and maintenance, with the amount of money they charge for Host fees I would expect these items to be taken care of.

Not clean, poor communication
Bed linens were covered in stains, lint, and sand; used tissues were on the floor and in the bathtub. Sausages were left on a plate in the vintage gas oven -- which doesn't work! Windows were filthy, bad cobwebs / dust / grime in every corner and upper surfaces. Chemical air freshener made the cabin unbearable until we found it and put it in a closet. Large blue light from (unusable) wifi disrupted sleep until unplugged. No information shared for wifi access, safety or maintenance info, contact info, etc., despite repeated requests via Vrbo -- a real problem when a transformer blew and we lost power our second morning!

ABOUT THE OWNER

Monica started North Star Properties with one goal. To better serve the Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan Area with a concierge service mentality for short term rentals. From the North suburbs of Detroit she was bred to be in the real estate industry. Both of her parents were entrepreneurs. She watched as her father built Gauthier Corporation, a very successful construction company, which is still running as strong as ever. Her mother started a cleaning company that meticulously made sure every home shined like the top of the Chrysler building. Working for both of her parents growing up, she understands the drive and passion it takes to achieve success. Prior to starting North Star Properties, she sold real estate on the Northside of Chicago before moving to the Dunes and making a permanent home.
"As a Realtor and Property Manager, I want to bring back the kind of service people forgot about it and should still come to expect from their agents today! It's not about getting the sale or rental, it's offering a uniquely qualified experience to my clients by building trust and a long term partnership. I can take care of all your Real Estate needs and if I can't, I will turn you in the right direction. I specialize in buying, selling, vacation rentals, investment properties, general contracting and property management services.
