The host was quick and friendly to answer our questions. Check in was simple with the key code on the door. The cabin was super cozy and nicely decorated. Had everything we needed. The only thing was little privacy when other guests arrived to stay in the luna’s across from us. Peaceful piece of heaven!
Just as advertised. Other than some yurts close by on the property which also are available from this owner, we couldnt see any neighbors. Lots of wildlife and close to several lakes and hiking spots. We really enjoyed staying in this cabin.

The Nest
We liked the cabin overall. It did have all the necessities to help make the stay good. A couple of times would have improved the stay:
A waste basket in the bathroom, hooks in the bathroom for towels, a curtain on the bathroom window since the other tents are directly across from it. The coffee pot was not clean and the water left in it had floaty things in it. We used the hooks on the log support in the living space for towels. The biggest obstacle was finding the cabin so add directions to the renter’s notice or send directions by email or text to the renter.
We liked the cabin and it’s location to the other activities we did. It was quiet and lovely. The owners were attentive when we asked for more towels and brought them the vet next morning.
We would have no trouble recommending it or even renting it again. Thanks for making our weekend get together great!
The three of us loved our 2-night stay at this charming cabin in the woods. Initial concerns about remoteness and lack of reviews dissipated immediately upon arrival.
The newly built cabin is in a forest clearing opposite two geodesic glamping domes, a companionable arrangement that maintains individual privacy.
Rustic yet stylish, with solid log walls and high ceilings, the cabin’s interiors are spacious, clean and thoughtfully furnished. The porch door opens into a contemporary and well-equipped kitchen with broad steps up to the main living area - a studio arrangement with a dining table and wood stove on one side, comfortable queen bed and sofa on the other. A spiral steel staircase in the center of the room leads to the lovely loft with its two single beds - perfect for kids (or in our case, a nimble adult).
We enjoyed breakfast and nightcaps outside on the roomy porch, spellbound by the rustle of wind in the towering pines and by the evening glow of the solar “owl” lantern.
FYI: Google Maps got us there without a hitch; Apple Maps got us close but not close enough. There are also subtle Red Owl Retreat signs along the gravel road after the turn.
Bright overhead lights would benefit from dimmers to soften their glare and we had to wear sleep masks to mitigate early morning light (there are curtains on some but not all the windows). The bathroom (accessed from the far end of the kitchen) sports a powerful rain showerhead but lacks towel hooks and a window blind.
