About this property

The Breakwater - at Dockside. Ski Bohemia. Ride Keweenaw snowmobile trails!

Mount Bohemia is just 25 minutes away. Snowmobile trail 133 runs right up to the driveway. We also have snow sleds and snow shoes. The deer are fed at 4 every day. Great for pictures!
Lots of Lake Superior shoreline. We have our own small marina! Picnic tables. Tiki hut. Kayaks. Sandy area to walk in. Paddle and Play in the water. Cast a line if you are a fisherman. Jump off the docks. Beach towels are provided. Take a bike ride to the museum in Gay. So much to do on-site!
Our spacious vacation houses are completely renovated with lots of popular features. Awesome, open concept great room with enormous windows to enjoy the views of the lake. Includes a well stocked, stainless kitchen, a dining area, an island for even more prep space, and a very comfy living room. We really splurged on the bathrooms, with stone vessel sinks, gold fixtures, and a large custom walk-in shower. We want you to feel pampered here.
Our deck is also over-sized and well appointed. We have a grill, an eating area, and a seating/hangout area. Wood is provided for the fire pit. A basket on top of the fridge has the fixings for s’mores.
Then, explore the Keweenaw. Our location is so convenient. To the north you’ll find Brockway Mountain Drive, Copper Harbor, Mount Bohemia, Fort Wilkins State Park, quaint museums and antique shops, the Calumet Theater, all just a short drive. Going south a bit you can stop in the mineral museum at Michigan Tech, enjoy lunch and shopping in Houghton and stop for ice cream in Lake Linden.

We have deep roots in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Our grandfather emigrated from Finland around 1900. In the 1920's he started a commercial fishing operation in Gay. In the next decades he established the ferry service to Isle Royale National Park and expanded his fishing business to Copper Harbor, Our Dad also fished commercially from Gay and Copper Harbor and then with our Mom and her family resort, they built a wonderful motel in the center of the Harbor, where we all worked when we were kids growing up.
Now as a brother and sister team, we are converting the marina and land in Gay into a hospitality center. The views of Lake Superior are awesome here. The marina provides lots of fun. And the location is still handy for afternoon rides to Copper Harbor, Calumet, Houghton or any of the towns and restaurants and such nearby.

Why they chose this property

The Keweenaw Peninsula is a magical place. As beautiful as can be with great scenic drives, mountains for skiing and for overlook opportunities, shoreline picnic spots, historic Fort Wilkins near Copper Harbor, and so much more.
Our family lived in Gay from the late 1940's up to 1960 when we moved to Hancock to finish our education. We attended a one room classroom at the school in Gay. Now the school is a really nice museum, well worth a few hours to browse around.
We love so much about this part of the world and we love to share its great nature outings, its historic culture, and its beautiful scenic spots.

What makes this property unique

Our piece of the Keweenaw is especially magical because we have over 1200 feet of shoreline on Lake Superior. Lots of room to explore. The marina sits in the middle of the property and offers lots of recreation. Swimming. Fishing. Kayaks, Corn Hole. Tiki Hut, Games. Picnic tables. Great place for hanging out.
Our newly renovated houses have all of the luxury and conveniences one wants from a vacation house, plus lots of rustic moments to celebrate being in nature.
