About this property

Sand Lake - Lakeside retreat - Lake Park, MN

This stunning redone brick home is the perfect secluded retreat for your group to enjoy.

An expansive layout allows for privacy and space to find your peace. Walk into a large entryway, with three doorways, to the right a chef's kitchen, with an open concept to the large dining room, forward a large living area, and to the left are bedrooms and bathrooms.

Come relax at the lake on almost 100 acres. There are several sitting areas and multiple fire pits, trails, and a dock to fish off of. A private patio and gas grill right outside of the kitchen area. Breathtaking views of the lake and countryside from the oversized deck on the back of the house. Sit and relax in the outdoor hot tub just off this expansive deck. Additional fee's applied if using the hot tub. It’s a short walk to the stabor (Primitive cabin, built by hand) in the woods located on a few miles of hiking trails and with a view of the lake. During the winter the place is located on a snowmobile trail. Which can be accessed from our yard. The lake is a great place to cross-country ski or snowshoe in the winter so bring them if you have them. There is another home on this property that can be booked together for larger groups. Beautiful place to hold a small wedding or a family reunion.

Things to access
The dock and all the sitting areas by the lake. The stabor is a short walk in the woods. There are also other hiking/walking trails for use. It would be a short loop for fat tire bikes but usable. There are other bike trails in the area also. I get a two mile run in on the woods trails. We do have some poison ivy in the woods so stay on the trails. This property would make an amazing small wedding venue, with a guest cottage available for an overflow of guests. Pets are allowed with a pet fee.

Watercraft and lake toys are available to rent through Sota Lake Properties in Perham, MN.

All of our bathrooms are stocked with toilet paper, washcloths, body towels, hand towels and soap. All bedrooms are complete with bedding and at least 2 pillows per guest. Additional items included in this stay: paper towels, dishwasher detergent.

The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, utensils, silverware, glassware, potholders, a toaster, a crockpot, a blender, a Keurig, paper towels, kitchen washcloths, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent. (we do have an outdoor 3 burner propane grill with grilling utensils)

June 2024 - Nice but misleading

It is a beautiful home and had all the space we wanted. However be aware that the windows are not operable so you cannot open them. The AC worked fine, but we missed the fresh air. Our biggest issue is that we were mislead by the ad. When it said "cottage available to rent for extra sleeping space" we did not realize it meant it was a totally separate property that would be rented if we didn't rent it. It was an uncomfortable surprise for both parties. We were each led to believe the entire property including the dock and patio area were ours to use. It was not clear at all that those were to be shared areas. We paid more than we've ever paid to rent a home, and thought we were getting a secluded place all to ourselves. If we wanted a resort-like experience where we were sharing space with strangers we would have chosen that. The other renters were nice people, but the principle of the matter left us feeling disappointed. We will not be back. Our advice is that you rewrite your ad so it is very clear to future renters that unless you pay the extra money to rent out the cottage it is not a private experience. And for the 1 bedroom cottage ad it should say that it will not be a private experience because the big house will be rented by another party.
