Relaxen bei Armando

Wir haben mit 2 Erwachsenen das Haus in ländlicher Umgebung gemietet. Die Lage des Anwesens, der Garten einschließlich der Aussicht sind ein Traum. Im Haus haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die beiden Terrassen, Sonnen-- und überdachte Terrasse bieten Erholung pur. Der Vermieter Armando ist sehr liebenswert und fürsorglich. Wir freuen uns auf den nächsten Aufenthalt bei ihm.

Island paradise

Our stay was amazing- just a perfect get away- so relaxing in every way. The place is even better than advertised- so roomy with lounge chairs to enjoy the morning sun and evening sunsets on an upstairs patio. Awake to the cacophony of bird song and the energizing island- it was private and peaceful. Thank you Armando!

Une maison lumineuse et confortable dans un vaste jardin avec vues sur la mer et les montagnes

C'est une belle et vaste maison, lumineuse du fait de sa baie vitrée. Elle a de grandes pièces et tout le confort nécessaire (rien ne manque, et les lits sont fermes ce qui est l'idéal pour le dos, le chauffage quand nécessaire se fait au moyen d'un insert de cheminée, le wifi est de parfaite qualité). Son immense avantage par rapport à d'autres tient dans son emplacement au milieu d'un vaste jardin avec pelouses, arbres et fleurs, et dans son calme parfait avec pour seuls sons le tintamarre joyeux des oiseaux, et le matin quelques coqs et quelques chiens dans le lointain. Dans le même jardin se trouve une seconde maison, à distance de la première, laissant toute privacy, elle est occupée par les propriétaires quelques semaines de l'année, louée à d'autres périodes. L'autre immense avantage de la maison est qu'elle est proche des axes de circulation, et notamment de la 4-voies qui rejoint Villafranca do Campo d'un côté, Lagoa, Ponta Delgada, l'aéroport de l'autre, et donc des restaurants et supermarchés et des lagoas et ports. Précision pour venir facilement : depuis l'aéroport, il faut suivre Lagoa, puis Villafranca, et ensuite Cabouco, on longe une série de maisons blanches cubiques, Vivendas Loureiro est indiqué vers la fin, il suffit de suivre). Nous avons eu le plaisir de rencontrer Armando, le propriétaire, qui parle français, anglais, portugais, c'est un homme attentionné soucieux du confort de ses hôtes. Lors d'un prochain séjour sur l'île, ce sera notre maison.

Enjoyed but could be better

We enjoyed our stay, however our realistic feedback: great quiet peaceful location, pretty views, good highway access, 5 min to grocery, property mgr was quick to help with issues (power outage, entrance gate stuck). Inside needs improvements: kitchen needs a thorough cleaning, very poor lighting in all rooms and furniture is dark so inside house is quite gloomy, beds are ok but pillows rock hard, smells musty, bedrooms could use ceiling fans, had a few large roaches inside when we arrived but that's common in this climate. There are cows, roosters and dogs in the area (not on the property) so you will occasionally hear them in the distance (and maybe smell manure), it didn't bother us because we like the country, but it could bother others.

Awesome get away, lots of space to stretch out

Beautiful property, with wonderful and responsive hosts. Team of local support that provided anything we needed. Washing machine and line for drying worked great for us. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful top deck to relax and see the city lights in the distance at night and ocean during the day. Would highly recommend a stay at this typical Portuguese home. ❤️

Azores sister adventure

We loved the house and location is central to quickly access north and south coasts of the island. Property plantings were special and having a working gardener planting out the summer crops was fun to watch. Any questions were quickly addressed by owners or the property caregivers. They take pride in the island and in their property. Highly recommend. Abrigado! Armando, Mary, Helena, Pedro and Frederico. We hope to see you again!

Nice villa, which need some upgrading

Fantastic garden, nice view, peaceful district, helpful and kind owner. We had all we need to have a nice time in the villa, some negativs with the belonging in the house. Kitchen and one of the bathrooms was a little bit older, needs some reparing and one of the beds upstairs is not so god. I missed to have a drying machine.

Great location and value on Sao Miguel

My friends and I enjoyed our stay in Vivenda B. It was in a great location for us to explore the island. Before booking we did have some confusion regarding which amenities were part of Vivenda A and which were part of Vivenda B; I'd prefer to have seen these as two separate listings. Though we didn't end up needing the washing machine, we found out that it's not in the house, but rather is in another spot on their property. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and thought it was a great value for a few days on Sao Miguel.

Tolles Ferienhaus in Super Lage

Wer eine super modern ausgestattete Ferienwohnung mit allen Schikanen erwartet, wird vielleicht etwas enttäuscht sein. Wer hingegen eine großzügige und gemütlich eingerichtete Ferienwohnung mit toller Terrasse und einem riesen Grundstück und einem wunderbaren Blick in die Landschaft erwartet, der ist genau richtig. Die Doppelbetten sind wohl ursprünglich für kleinere Südeuropäer konstruiert worden, d.h. ab 1,90 m wird es wirklich eng. Für die Selbstversorger, Gasherd, Pfannen und Töpfe sowie was man sonst zum Kochen benötigt sind einwandfrei. Die Dachterrasse lädt zum Sundowner ein und Frühstück mit Vogelgezwitscher ist garantiert. Die Lage der Ferienwohnung ist für die Erkundung der Insel hervorragend, da man schnell überall hinkommt, bzw. der nächste Anschluss an die Autobahn nur wenige Minuten entfernt ist. Alles in allem hat mir das Ferienhaus und der gesamte Aufenthalt auf der Insel sehr gut gefallen, auch der Vermieter hat sich rührend bemüht.

An Adventure in the Azores

We had a wonderful vacation on Sao Miguel this June and stayed at this villa. It was a perfect size for our family of 4 with a modern kitchen and 2 roomy bathrooms. The grounds and gardens are gorgeous and well maintained. We rented the owners mini-van through Car Amigo to get us around the island, A car rental is a must. The van was older and we had a few problems with it when we started our week but overcame them. We were picked up at the airport by the owners housekeeper Helena who was lovely. She gave us a quick tour of the area, showed us the supermarket and around the villa. Armando checked on us daily with many suggestions for area attractions and was very helpful when we had questions or issues. There is a washing machine but no dryer so don't do your wash on a rainy day. There are plenty of clotheslines to dry your clothes though ,so plan accordingly. The mattresses are a bit firm, more then we are used to so we had to adjust to that, and play musical beds until we found the right fit. My husband is 6ft 7in so he struggled to fit in the bed, but thats not unusual. The second floor porch is lovely to have your morning coffee! The area is ideal because it's close to the city but in the country. Cows graze on the hillside pasture across the street and the sound of the doves in the morning is so peaceful. The market is a 5 minute drive and very affordable, wine and cheese are amazing and the people are friendly and helpful. The area attractions are fairly close: thermal baths, a waterfall, beaches, markets, botanical gardens, scenic overlooks etc. The roads are well marked and maintained, the island is clean and not many bugs! It's like the Caribbean without the heat. I would recommend the villa to anyone, it's a clean, comfortable home with all the modern conveniences you need. Thanks Armando for a wonderful stay!!!

Top Lage, Betten zu klein!

Dieses Haus ist umgeben von einem wunderschönen Garten und der Blick Richtung Ozean und Ponta Delgada ist phantastisch! Der Vermieter kümmert sich sehr aufmerksam um seine Gäste. Im Obergeschoss befindet sich eine tolle Sonnenterrasse. Leider sind die Betten zu kurz und als Doppelbetten zu schmal. Zudem fühlen sich die Räume feucht an und der Geruch war dadurch für uns mitunter trotz ausgiebigen Lüftens etwas unangenehm.

Excellent home from home

I (Dave) stayed for 3 weeks to escape the Canadian winter and to get some biking and hiking exercise. My wife, sister and 2 daughters joined me for the last week to tour. The ladies rated the house and extensive grounds excellent, particularly the log fireplace in the living room. The rural location, set in the volcanic hills near the village of Cabouco was very beautiful and I did a lot of interesting bicycling on quiet well surfaced roads. The January weather was great for outdoor activity, daytime highs about 17 to 19 C, overnight about 14 C, very little rain, overnight, and plenty of sun. We had only very minor problems, and the owners, Armando and Mary were only a phone call away, were very helpful and themselves called on neigbours to assist us. We would love to return.

Wunderbares Haus und Grundstück

Wir hatten vorher die Bilder gesehen und das sah alles gut aus. Üblicherweise stellt man dann vor Ort fest, dass Bilder zu viel versprechen. Das war diesmal nicht der Fall. Ganz im Gegenteil ist es vor Ort noch viel schöner als auf den Bildern. Auf der Terrasse sitzen, den Garten und dahinter das Meer, einfach schön. Der Vermieter war auch vor Ort, und hat sich sehr um uns gekümmert. So half er uns sofort, als die Fluggesellschaft den Flug mal eben um 2 Tage nach vorne verlegte. Auch später, er war zu der Zeit zurück in seinem Heim in Kanada, hat er sich mehrmals gemeldet, und uns bei Problemen mit dem Tor sofort geholfen. Wenn wir wieder mal auf die Azoren fliegen, wird das Haus unsere erste Wahl sein. Ach ja, man sollte unbedingt ein Auto haben. Andere Verkehrsmittel haben wir nicht gesehen.

1 Woche Ferienhaus auf Sao Miguel

Sehr herzlicher und netter Empfang von Carmen und ihrer Familie, sehr gepflegtes Anwesen, sauber, sicher und absolut ruhig gelegen. Küchenausstattung ist komplett vorhanden, Dusche und Bad gut, Wohnzimmer mit Kamin sehr gemütlich. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse bis Ponta Delgada ist grandios, wir genossen den Abend mit einem Glas Wein und den Blick auf die Landschaft. Für den in der Nähe gelegenen Landwirtschaftsbetrieb (Milchkühe) sollte man Verständnis mitbringen, auch wenn bei ungünstigem Wind der 'Duft' des Betriebes auf das Anwesen weht. Dafür kann aber der Vermieter absolut nichts, wir konnten damit leben. Jederzeit gern wieder. Vielen Dank für die nette Kommunikation und Betreuung vor Ort !

Nice house with some Unfortunate circumstances

My husband and I planned to stay a week at Vivenda A the second week of June. Armando was very helpful at answering all my questions before we arrived and arranged for his housekeepers to pick us up at the airport and show us around on our way to the property. The grounds and views are spectacular. The house is roomy and clean. Unfortunately it was unusually hot and humid and the house was ver damp. The beds are small so my husband and I slept in separate rooms. We had to open the inside windows( there are shutters and metal grates on the outside, that we were told not to open) to get some air in the rooms. There were many dogs in the area that barked all night. I had to put music on to drown out the barking. There is also a cow pasture next door and although it is very pastoral to look it,it can send smells into the house if the wind is blowing uphill. We left two day early because there were large brown cockroaches in the kitchen and bedroom. I am aware that these are common in hot and humid areas ( my son has them sometimes in NC) but this wasn’t one or two flying in. The screens were closed at all times and we killed 4 on the kitchen counter, 1 in the sink, 3 on the floor and a couple in the bedrooms. When I am on vacation I don’t want to be spraying for bugs. I read all the other reviews before I booked this property and no one mentioned the things I did, so I don’t know if this was unusual but I do believe it needs to be mentioned. Armando was very concerned about us leaving early and wanted to rectify the situation but I just wanted to get home to my own bed.

Charming, Beatiful and Cozy!

We stayed two weeks at this property and enjoyed every second. Armando and Mary, although they were not present, kept in touch and gave us great advices on where to go to enjoy our stay. The property is spacious and well kept, the fireplace was a very nice touch for the colder April nights and you have everything you need in the house. I would definitely recommend this charming property and might very well be renting it again in the future.

A Wonderful 3 Weeks!

We thoroughly enjoyed three wonderful weeks in April 2016 based in Armando's beautiful and very well located house (Vivenda A) on Sao Miguel. The location has a expansive view of the ocean, Ponta Delgada and the green hills above. It is conveniently located to tour the entire island but being slow travelers, we still left some for a future trip! The surrounding gardens are perfect for a stroll and we enjoyed both the sweet and sour oranges that we found in the garden. The kitchen is well furnished and we only had to add a few spices and a plastic flipper to spare the new-looking non-stick frying pan. The house is large, a good size for us (a couple with an active but elderly mother), and sparkling clean. The living room furniture wasn't the most comfortable and could use a refresh. The TV had a good selection of channels with many in English (some subtitled in Portuguese). The WiFi worked well for our collection of tablets, phones and a laptop. We had lots of towels and the luxury of two bath/shower rooms was appreciated. The fireplace worked well and we used lots of the supplied dry firewood. It can be a little damp and chilly on April evenings in the Azores. Armando lived in the other house on the property for the first two weeks of our stay. He gave us a quick guided tour of the area. It was a perfect introduction to key information for living in Cabouco -- bakeries, groceries, local bananas, restaurants, the layout of Lagoa and connections to the rest of the island. He was very attentive and helpful but discreet and very conscious of not invading our privacy. After Armando returned to Montreal he called us once to make sure that everything was going well and on that call we met Mary who had had to stay in Montreal so we didn't meet her in person. We hope to continue our exploration of Sao Miguel, but next time we'd change it up and travel a little later in the year. Sorry for the rather late review. We've been dealing with a lot of medical issues since our return and are just now getting our heads back above water.

Très bel environnement, accueil chaleureux

Grande maison dans un grand jardin magnifique, très bien située et au calme. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques et veulent faire plaisir, grande gentillesse ! Seul petit bémol, le mobilier un peu vieux. Mais pour les vacances ce n'est pas gênant 😀. Je conseille cette location et j'y retournerai volontiers!

Fantastic and Memorable

Dear Armando and Mary, The Acores are truly awesome, and your place is a paradise we highly recommend to anyone seeking the beauty and natural serenades of a countryside getaway. The Vivenda Loureiro is like a garden park with the various plants and trees that make your chateau so fascinating. The house is beautiful and roomy and well supplied with all amenities. We had great weather and got to see a lot of the island’s treasures. We were amazed at the number of birds flying by and I got some great photos of the hawks, gulls, and a bat at dusk. Cabouco-lagoa, wonderful!!

The house and property was amazing and the location on the island was ideal! Our weather was cool and damp so we didn't get to enjoy the grounds around the house but it was perfect weather for the furnas! Absolutely beautiful island with wonderful people and Armando and Mary were so accommodating with offers to pick up at the airport and excellent suggestions for restaurants and things to do. Would highly recommend the house and Armando is very kind and helpful to deal with, it was so easy! I big thanks to their caretakers Fernando, carmine and lizette, wonderful lovely people!! I can't say enough, except I look forward to going back 😄

LITTLE PARADISE WITH 5 STARS!

Myself, my wife and our 2 adult teens have wonderful memories of our vacation at this “little paradise”. We strongly recommend this vacation house to come visit with your family the beautiful Sao Miguel Island and we rate our stay with 5 stars for several reasons: 1,Location: The estate is only about 15 minutes' drive from the airport, centrally located on the island in a very quiet village. Perfect location for exploring by car the many wonderful places and sights to be found on this beautiful island. The beach is reachable within five minutes by car, also close to restaurants and supermarket in Lagos. As soon as you pass the gate of the property, it feels like entering a little paradise. Very large manicured garden with beautiful flowers and trees, amazing views of the ocean and island 2, Comfort: We stayed in House B, also very comfortable and plenty of room with a spacious 2nd floor where the teens slept. The house had all the comforts of home with a well equipped kitchen Perfectly located veranda, perfect facilities to barbecue and cozy outdoor dining in the garden. Everything was very clean 3, Hospitality (the most important reason): Armando, you really showed us the beautiful island through your own eyes. We still enjoy and remember the contacts with the local people, the little trips that we made together, the helpful hints and in particular the organization of the fishing experience on the ocean at night. Thank you so much for making our vacation so wonderful and a memorable one for Céline and Jonas. Our only regret is that your lovely wife Mary was not there. We really hope everything goes better Hugs from all of us... , we are sure that we see each other back in the near future!

Quiet and peaceful

Booking was smooth - Armando patiently answered all of our questions. The estate is only about 15 minutes' drive from the airport and just off the highway. It is a bit tricky to find it but Armando's map made it easier. There are 2 houses on the estate and we are staying in house B. There was no guests in House A so we pretty much had the whole campus to us. Air is fresh and birds were chirping, starry sky at night, we felt as if we were in a different world. Ms Ana and her daughter met us at the property and helped us settled in. The 2 houses shared a washer and we hung our clothes outside. house B is spacious and has a 2nd floor that can sleep another 4 ppl. We didn't need it and only stayed on the 1st floor. The house is in a very quiet location yet just minutes to highway and downtown Lagoa with shops and restaurants. Armando also called a couple of times to make sure we were OK, which we appreciated very much. We highly recommend this vacation house!
