About this property

'Neighborhood of The Year' Bungalow and Garden Oasis in an Artist Enclave.

Historic Kenwood, National Neighborhood of the Year in 2020, chose this home for its 2021 annual Bungalowfest Tour of Homes, "The Garden Edition." The neighborhood is known for friendliness and inclusiveness, it is home to an Artist Enclave (many artists living and working from home studios) Porch parties; walking distance to bars, restaurants, museums, galleries, breweries, world famous DOG BAR (you can get a doggy fix there) Brick lined street, open parking (no driveway) Enjoy old time big open front porch which includes a dining table and 2nd seating area with 2 fans, fountain, mango tree, privacy in the front yard with large hedges; enter home to original wood floors and double hung windows, ample size living, dining, kitchen, laundry. This home has been most often referred to as 'charming, cozy, exudes abundant warmth' and my favorite..."It feels like a hug" I cannot agree more!

You will have many options to get outside in your own yard, the back yard is a tropical and private oasis with multiple seating and gathering spots, and fenced, or, venture out to world famous white sand gulf beaches (20-25 mins drive) or downtown waterfront (10 min drive) to see Dali Museum, Beach Drive. Public transportation avail, Sun Runner stop only a few blocks away- Sunrunner is new transit takes you from downtown to gulf beaches, currently free and fast. A small studio sits at the back of the property (detached) and is an artists studio, it will likely be occupied, by me, a professional portrait photographer and member of The Artist's Enclave.

I love this home and this neighborhood, and all that St. Petersburg has to offer, and welcome you to come and explore, and enjoy! PS should you wish to have vacation portraits taken I will happily suggest best places, times, and even take you there, with MY CAMERA, should you wish to add this service (photoshoot extra $)

Some of our favorite things to do:

Drink: Walk over to Central Avenue, (4 blocks) and explore shops, bars: Dog Bar, COCK, Dirty Laundry, Grand Central Brewhouse; 3 Daughters Brewing, La La.

Dine: Wild Child, Good Intentions, Eat Love Central, Taquirita, Urban Still House, Bo and Moes, La La, The Burg
Art: Grand Central Arts and Warehouse Arts District, both walking distance, and host monthly Art Walk, many independent galleries and shops here, but for more hop on the Sunrunner, head downtown check out: Dali Museum, The Chihully, Museum of Fine Arts; Arts and Craft Museum, The James Museum, Morean Arts Center, and many boutiques and galleries all about.

Sight See: Downtown St. Pete: The Vinoy Historic Hotel, The Pier, Beach Drive, or go west to world famous white sand beaches: Ft Desoto, Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach and so many gorgeous views all around.
(PS Currently the home has one of two bedrooms available, plus futon in the living area. The second bedroom is not occupied, but is used for my personal storage. At some point soon the 2nd bedroom will be available, with adjustment to rate.)

I do have a dog, who may be staying with me in the studio. (private entry on opposite end of property) Your privacy is my aim and my dog will either be leashed as we come in and out, or it will be fenced. He is very well mannered, rarely barks. I am well mannered, and never bark!

Hi, I grew up in the Detroit area and moved to FL mid 20's, for my love of sunshine and beaches. St. Petersburg has been my home for 20 years and I could not be happier here. I love animals, nature, conversations, dancing, music, art and artsy people. I am also smitten with intellectual people and will hang on every word, wishing I had furthered my own education. Never too late they say! I spent 20 years as a multi family property manager, making sure my residents and staff and owners were all satisfied at the same time this is not easy at all. But my primary focus was always the residents, for without them, nothing else mattered. I hope to provide my guests with a wonderful experience, and plan to be hands off and out of sight, unless you need me or want my input, help etc. I am looking forward to meeting my future traveling friends.

Why they chose this property

I was drawn to the wide open smile also known as the porch, which seemed so friendly and warm. I was so intrigued and compelled to explore this smiling street, lined in red brick, gigantic granite curbs, and oak trees, so neighborhood like, it called to me! My friends and family questioned my decision, single female living alone in what was then (20 years ago) a 'pre-transitional' neighborhood. It was in fact transitional, they just could not see it, but I could. It has since become one of the most sought neighborhoods in the nation, winning 'National Neighborhood of The Year- 2020" ; also featured in "Bungalow" magazine; creating St. Petes first officially zoned "Artist Enclave"; and serving as a model of how to love a home while loving your neighbors at the same time. It is very very convenient to everything! I often think I might sell my car, as I rarely use it, I prefer to walk or take public transit or cheap uber/lyfts. Museums, waterfronts, gulf beaches, festivals, restaurants, nightlife, and my favorite of all THE DOG BAR, are all so close and convenient to us. It is quiet here, although you can here the traffic from 275 when outside, or if windows are open, but it sometimes sounds like a stream, a lazy little stream and it makes me grateful to be home and not on the expressway. Silver Linings. Neighbors are fantastic!

What makes this property unique

This home is probably suited for those who like to be at home a little while also on vacation...I know I do. I love a lazy vacation and one that provides a comfortable place for me to be, vs a sterile generic hotel room that makes me want to run out of it, this home will hopefully feel 'like a hug' and make you want to hang out a little bit, inside, or outside, front, or back, many lovely spots to sit and ponder your next move. At anytime, if you feel like doing something, it is so easy to just get up and go. Call a Lyft, take a walk (4 blocks to Central Ave- named "St. Petes Coolest Street") or hop the Sunrunner to gulf beaches (world famous white sand beaches) or grab a scooter if you dare, or a bike, heck we have a Jolly Trolley and that is just fun to say, it LOOPS around downtown, ( if you can catch it) we even have a pedal pub a few blocks away. The Pinellas Trail is a few blocks away, it goes from St. Pete to Tarpon Springs, my friend rides her bike all that way..many do! A super cool thing about this house...it is part of an Artist Enclave, and I am a member and have a studio at the back of the property. I am a portrait photographer, specialize in artistic nudes, boudoir, glamour, but also do traditional family portraits. If you are interested I can arrange a shoot for you while you are on vacation, do here in the studio or in the garden oasis, or on the town, or beach, etc, or, I can just give you a tour. We have many creative people all around us, galleries and museums, we even have art on our street posts, "Finials". Finally, if you consider history, this home is nearing its 100th year...I find this to be what I love the most about it. It has endured so many hurricanes, storms, people, love, heartache, changes all around, but it stands firm, and solid and tells me everything will be ok.
