About this property
Woodsy Retreat with Pool, Hot Tub, and much more
Enjoy a capacious indoors, or jump in the solar-heated pool, lounge in the hot tub and enjoy the fire pit in the evening. You will be a short scenic drive from redwoods, oysters, wineries, fabulous hiking and mountain biking, and Point Reyes. A well tended vegetable and flower garden surrounds the house`. A little gazebo, on a secluded knoll in the woods, provides a romantic/meditative ‘retreat within a retreat.’ The entire 5-acre property is private, shielded from neighbors and the road.
The space
The main house consists of two large bedrooms (one upstairs with a private garden entrance and its own full bath), a huge living room with grand piano, wood-burning fireplace, HD-TV and comfortable sofa, a dining room and open, well-equipped kitchen. Around the pool are: our veggie and flower garden which will provide you with delicious food and floral displays, The office (w/printer and scanner and strong wifi) which is attached to Daniel's library--a writer's eclectic lifetime of reading--please delve. Many historic comix and children's books included A hot tub, outdoor shower, multiple pool floats, loungers galore, fire pit and bbq round out the outdoors festivities. Twenty yards from the house is Jamie's large, airy painting studio which is available to guests as well.
Guest access
Everything on the property is for guests’ private access.
Other things to note
There are sweet neighborhood dogs that will stay outside the fence (unless you invite them in.) If you don't like dogs, this may not be the right place for you. Speaking of animals, there are goats next door, deer on the road, hawks and turkey vultures, owls, coyotes and raccoons at night, gophers on the hillside, quail strutting, wild turkeys (ridiculous birds who look like gangstahs marching down the road), squirrels, Western Fence Lizards and so on. You get the picture. It's the country--with urbanized delights but still the country. It's a place for people who like nature.

Hi, I'm Daniel Ben-Horin. My wife Jamie and I divide our time between rustic Marin and urban Paris. She's a painter; I'm a novelist who spent many years in the nonprofit sector. More on wikipedia if you're interested. I had a very happy experience for 25 years renting out a Sierra cabin and enjoy having trusting, friendly relations with my guests.
Why they chose this property
After 40 years in San Francisco, we were ready for some country. But not *too* far from urbanity. This seemed like a perfect mix. For city people like us, the chance to have 5 acres of forest was too good to pass up!
What makes this property unique
We are in the middle of nature with the comforts of home.
